Offering this antique Robinson Ransbottom. Roseville, Ohio large#6, 6 Gallon Stoneware Pickling or Storage Crock with original Red Handles. It is 14 1/2 inches tall, 13 1/2 inches across top and weighs 30 pounds unpackaged. Add 5 pounds for double box safe shipping. There is a 6 inch hairline starting at the top on one side, see photos of inside and outside shot showing the crack. Rings solid and still very decorative and useful. Crown mark with number 6. R. R. P. Co. ( Crown Brand or Robinson Ransbottom ) 3 G. Stoneware Preserve Jar
For your consideration is a R. R. P. Co. AKA Robinson Ransbottom or Crown Brand) three gallon stoneware preserve jar with a lid. This company started in Akron. Ohio as Johnson, Whitmore and Company in 1856. Through a series of mergers, acquisitions, taking on additional partners, etc. it became known as R. R. P. Co. Robinson Ransbottom Pottery Company) and was located in Roseville, Ohio. The crown is a pale black and is under the glaze. The interior is glazed with a brown glaze. This quality jar was manufactured using a two piece mold; with the seam being horizotal and approximately halfway between the top and bottom. The handles were skillfully applied. All in all this piece was made conscientously. This preserve/storage jar is approximately 13 1/2" tall and the bottom is slightly more than 9 1/4" in diameter. This preserve/storage ... morejar has 0 chips on the jar itself, however on the bottom of the lid an insignificant flake with a very tight hairline; the hairline is not visible on the top side of the lid. Also there is a crack on the bottom of the jar and I would argue that was caused by the clay not being dry enough when it was fired. The chips on the bottom the jar are glazed over; meaning the chips happened during manufacturing, before the item was fired. Check out my other listings as I combine shipping when practical. It is a light bluish gray with cobalt blue stripes. The bottom is marked Robinson Ransbottom Roseville OHIO USA#308. About 5" tall, 8 1/4" across. Excellent. A flaw on the bottom edge that is a slight gap in the clay. In photo#3 you can see it at about 1 o'clock. You can also see it at about 5 o'clock on the bottom of the crock in the last photo. The inside of the pot is brown. There is a cobalt blue crown and the# 2 inside the crown. The pot and lid are in very good condition. This is about 14 inches tall. Pictures 5.6, 7 show very small chips to the upper inside rim which are so high they don't comprimise this at all. The inner lip of the lid cover them completely. For your consideration is a three gallon stoneware preserve jar with a lid. This preserve jar was manufactured by the Robinson Ransbottom Pottery Company. This company was founded in 1856 in Akron. Ohio and was originally known as Johnson, Whitmore and Company. Through a series of mergers, acquisitions and taking on different partners; it became known as Robinson Ransbottom Pottery Company and was located in Roseville, Ohio. This three gallon preserve jar has a"dirty" white exterior, a brown interior and the lid is"dirty" white on the side that is on the interior and on the side that is on the exterior. The crown with the 3 in it was factory applied under clear glaze and cannot be scrubbed or scraped off. There is an applied handle on each side. This preserve jar is 13 3/8" tall, the opening is 6 3/4" in diameter ... moreand the bottom is 9 1/4" in diameter. This preserve jar looks OK, but on the underside of the lid is a very shallow chip and there is a very tight hairline approximately 1 1/8" long associated with this hairline; this hairline is not visible on the exterior side of this lid. Description: Here is a nice Robinson Ransbottom one-handled bean pot or crock. This isn’t the typical brown over cream color. This example has a nice carmel color over cream.The lid could be a replacement as it almost looks like a mix of brown and black. The lid is a perfect match to the crock. There is what could be a small chip under the lid but I think it was a casting flaw. Judging from the nice color inside. I do not think that anything was ever baked in this crock, especially beans. look at all my pictures as they are the best way for you to judge color and condition for yourself. It also has the typical Blue Crown logo with a number 2 in it denoting that it is a 2 quart crock. The crown stamp is also crisp and clear and everything about this example screams quality. Antique Robinson Ransbottom 4 Gallon Blue Crown Stoneware Water Crock w/ Spigot
This is a very nice vintage crock made Robinson-Ransbottom sometime during the mid-1900's. The company initially started producing from The Ransbottom Brothers Pottery in 1900. The pottery shop was the largest stoneware producer in the world at the time and was sold to The Robinson Clay Products Company in 1919. Together as Robinson-Ransbottom they produced stoneware with the blue crown logo. And some marks show“RRP” in the crown. Others have a number inside the crown, which indicates the size of the crock or bowl. This four-gallon crock measures about 11" across and 14" tall. The piece is decorated with royal blue stripes which give it a beautifully rich aesthetic. There is wonderful detail in the glaze, so please view the pictures carefully for paint and condition details. Vintage Stoneware Robinson-Ransbottom Pottery 5 Gallon Butter Churn Pot Made in Roseville. Ohio This beautiful stoneware 5 gallon butter churn pot stands 16" tall and measures 10" across the brim. It has wire handles with red wooden grips. The removable lid has a hole in the center where the butter paddle is inserted and is marked USA and the numbers 5-6. There is a chip and a crack in the lid. There are also some small surface cracks on the barrel and some inner cracking but the integrity of the piece is still solid. It is marked with a crown and the number 5 in the center. It comes with a plunger which seems to me that is made for a 2 gallon churn. But I will include it with the pot. Antique Blue Crown Robinson-Ransbottom Pottery Pickle Crock 2 Gallon Stoneware
This old crock was found in a corner of a basement. Where it had been stored for decades. I don't know for sure when it was manufactured, but from other postings here, I gather that Ransbottom and Robinson-Ransbottom. made crocks like this early in the 20tieth century. It is approximately 9 inches high and 9 1/4 inches in diameter. It is heavy. You can pick it up locally to save on the shipping costs. This was obviously used. It is dirty both inside and out. Even after an attempt to clean it. There is some damage to the glaze under the 2 where the crazing is causing some minor flaking off. Please look at the pictures. This is heavy and will not be the easiest thing to pack and ship.I would prefer a local pick up. For something this heavy. I am also stating no returns,unless I have made a mistake in my description,because of the shipping ... morecosts. Of course, if it is picked up locally, there will be the opportunity to inspect it. You are bidding on the stunning 5 gallon blue crown multi colored crock pictured above. This crock was made by Robinson Ransbottom I believe in the early 1900 s. It is in very good condition with no cracks and only a few small chips chips. The combination of tan brown and navy blue makes this a very unique piece. My knowledge is somewhat limited on stoneware so if anyone has any additional information I would love to hear from you. Hopefully you are able to gather all you need from the pictures provided.
