A tall syrup in a slim tankard ... moreform with gorgeous conical lid in stoneware. It has Aged extremley well. Near Museum quality in our opinion and look at the shape. Slight underglaze darkening but glaze beautiful. gorgeous loop hangle with thumbrest. Lid immaculate. Hinge immaculate. Original gold lines on rails bordering collar almost completely cleaned off but an easy restoration. Magnificent the way it is. There seems to be the slightest rub of the lid on the backside shoulder edge and a nick. Perhaps but otherwise, near museum quality to me. The glaze on the top edge of the tankard looks poured on. Image 12 shows the depth of the glaze and crackling depth. Polychromic Hand colored transfer of a stylized water bird resembling a Great Blue Heron wading in flowered wetlands decorating each side of syrup body has great color and is in beautiful condition. Interesting thumb lever appears to be styled or formed as the back of a book and is serrated in a chevron on the thumb side for a sure grip while pouring. Stands 6 1/2" to the top edge of the slim tankard. And 8" to the finial on beautiful conical lid. Handsome slim tankard form with beautiful classic loop handle with great thumbrest. You will not find many of these around in this condition. Stamped"BENNETT'S/ JAN 23. 1873/ PATENT" I would be interested in the patented feature or innovation represented by that patent. Magnificent slim tapering form. Great loop handle, outstanding lid and outstanding condition make this one you will REALLY LIKE. We cleaned the exterior. Inside is very clean. What you are viewing is an original antique 3-4 gallon(I Think) Stoneware crock with applied handles and a wonderful blue bee sting decoration on the front. Piece is in great shape for its age with some wear and aging to contend with as well as one 6in crack starting from the top. Piece has nice clean handles and crack is in the back of the piece so it won't detract much in display. Piece measures 9in X 8 3/4in X 13 3/4in and is a nice displayable size but once again, I am not sure about the gallon size. The jug is in very good condition and nicely decorated on both sides and on the handles. There are some slight glazing flaws and marks from when it was made. 3 Vintage Primitive Stoneware BUTTER CROCKS Blue, Brown, Plain
These heavy old butter crocks are in wonderful condition- the brown and the blue one have no chips or cracks. The plain colored one looks a little older and a little rougher. And has a 2" line that looks like a crack, but only on the inside, under the glaze. All three are 5 1/2" in diameter and 3 3/4" tall. No visible markings on the bottom, but the blue one still shows traces of markings from a long time ago(see picture) They all have the same shape and will look beautiful on display in a country kitchen.

Fresh from an upstate New York estate! This primitive hanging salt crock from the late 1800's will add some lovely country charm to your home. The heavy salt glazed blue and white decorated pottery can be hung or displayed on a hutch or counter. It has a hinged wooden lid and a hole in the back of the pottery for mounting on a wall Though over a hundred years old. This crock is in remarkably good shape. It does have the typical mold flaws of early stoneware. In addition, the interior has a dime sized spot where the surface glaze is missing and there is a small chip in the glaze on the front edge. see pics) There is the typical age crazing and hairlines to the glaze but the cobalt decoration is bright and the pottery is structurally sound. This auction is for an Antique. Primitive, Blue& White Stoneware Butter Crock. The bottom half is white, while the top half and inside has a soft blue color. This is 5.75" diameter and 3.75" tall, making it very displayable on a country kitchen counter or step back cupboard shelf. The butter crock was the normal means of buying butter in the early 1900's. And this is one of the more decorative colors. This is near perfect no cracks. Up for your consideration we have a beautiful antique salt glazed stoneware crock to complement your collection. This crock would be an excellent addition to your primitive or country decor. It is periwinkle blue and white with embossed butterflies around it. It measures about 4 1/2 inches tall and 5 1/2 inches wide across the opening. It is in pretty good condition with a couple of small surface chips on the sides making it look even more primitive. There is one chip around the base and in the inside it appears to have a couple hairline cracks. Crazing is visible both on the exterior and interior of the crock. Auction Item: Primitive Crock. Salt/ Butter/ Pickle Description: Stoneware with hand-painted Dark to Navy Blue double banding. It is in really nice vintage condition. Unmarked. I see no makers mark only wheel chatter marks. I purchased this crock at a country estate sale in south-western Washington State. Exterior crazing is present as are glazing pop marks. The interior and exterior are both heavily glazed. There are a couple of small chips. The interior base reveals pin-wheel marks from its creation. The bottom rim shows chatter marks created when removing from its wheel. I have inserted an up-close photo of the bottom center wheel circle foot marks. Chatter marks, and interior base pinwheel pattern. The"off" circular shape is also proof of this piece being hand wheel thrown. It is very very very only slightly oval. Primitive Stoneware Double Flower Blue & Gray Crock
Primitive stoneware blue and gray crock. Crock measures 9 5/8" tall and measures 6 1/4" diameter. The crock has a capital letter I in a circle near the top. I assume this mark stands for one gallon but I'm not positive. I've seen other crocks and they are marked with a 1 in a circle? There is a very slight hair line crack on the bottom. It does not come all the way through the crock. There is a small chip off the bottom edge.

Antique Primitive 10 Gallon Cobalt Blue Bee Sting Salt Glaze Stoneware Crock This is a very large 10-gallon stoneware crock that has been handed down in our Illinois/Indiana family since the 19 th century. The family lore is that it was used to pickle herring. It has a salt glaze exterior with a slip glaze brown interior. The decoration is a large free-hand cobalt blue“bee sting” The design measures 7 ½” long x 5” wide. The crock is 18” in height and 19” with the lid in place. The lid has a 10” diameter. The crock has a pleasing curved line with two ear-like handles. The widest section of the curved line measures 11” in diameter. This large crock holds 10 gallons. The last two pictures show the crock filled with 10 gallons of water. With the lid in place. It weighs a hefty 28 pounds. There is a fine crack that runs from the rim and curves ... moredown 9” to about the mid-point of the crock(see pictures of exterior and interior of the crack) It leeks slightly when filled with water. However, as an antique, it is doubtful that this collector item would be put back into use for pickling herring. You can be creative and use this crock in new ways. I have used it as a coffee table by putting a 30” diameter round glass piece on top of it. Use your imagination. This would be a great piece to own, display, and enjoy. Vintage Antique Primitive Salt Glazed Crock Blue Tulip Double Loop Handles 2L
Offering this great primitive stoneware two handled crock. The crock measures approx. 6 3/4" tall by 7 1/2" across. There are discolorations throughout this old utilitarian piece which appear to be in the glaze from the firing process. Each side is decorated with a hand painted tulip and scrolled leaves topped and based by a blue band. The handles are decorated with vertical painted brush strokes. This wide mouth jar has no makers marks but does have"2L"2 liter) incised on the side. I believe this to be European made. Possibly German. California buyers must add 7.5% sales tax. PRIMITIVE VINTAGE BLUE / TAN CAKE CROCK BUTTER BREAD CROCK WITH LID
UP FOR AUCTION IS ONE BLUE AND TAN CAKE? CROCK WITH LID. HAS A DIAMETER OF 7 3/4" 4 1/2" TALL. IT APPEARS TO HAVE HAD A BALE HANDLE AT ONE TIME. HAS HOLES FOR THIS ON EACH SIDE. IT IS NOT WITHOUT FLAWS. AT FIRST GLANCE IT LOOKS TO HAVE A CRACK ON THE OUTSIDE. I DON'T BELIEVE THIS IS A CRACK I THINK IT IS A FLAW IN FIRING OR THE PAINT. IT DOES NOT GO ALL THE WAY THROUGH. IT LOOKS TO HAVE TWO HAIRLINES ON THE INSIDE. THESE DO NOT GO ALL THE WAY THROUGH AND YOU CAN'T HARDLEY FEEL THEM WITH YOUR FINGERS HOWEVER IF YOU RUN YOUR FINGERNAIL ON THEM THEY CAN BE FELT. THE LID HAS A CHIP ABOUT THE SIZE OF A PENCIL ERASER ON THE TOP. ON THE UNDERNEATH SIDE OF THE LID THERE ARE SEVERAL CHIPS. I BELIEVE THESE TO BE FROM USE. I DON'T KNOW AN AGE OR A MAKER, AS I AM NOT A CROCK EXPERT. IF THERE IS AN EXPERT OUT THERE WHO KNOWS THE ... moreMAKER, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. IT'S A NICE LOOKING CROCK. And a 1/8th d eep at the deepest~but it is hard for me to measure.~I have taken pics of this! Antique Primitive James Hamilton Stoneware Crock Greensboro, PA Cobalt Blue
Hello you are looking at a original James Hamilton stoneware crock. The crock measures 9 3/4" tall and 6" across the top opening. This is a very rare piece and in very good condition no chips. Folks this would make a wonderful addition to the serious collector. A great piece of Americana! Original Piece from Greensboro PA folks. Antique Primitive Westerwald Large Cobalt Blue Salt Glaze German Crock - 1800's
Westerwald Cobalt Blue Salt Glaze Crockery This is an Beautiful Antique 10 Liter Westerwald German(or Belgium) Cobalt Blue Salt Glaze Crock. It has a gorgeous floral and leaf design front and back and more all the way around in deep cobalt blue. I think this would be from the 1800's though this kind of pottery dates back even earlier. It measures 9 1/2" tall& 11 1/2" diameter without handles& 13 1/2" across including handles. It has one hairline crack on the side running to the inside which looks like was repaired a long time ago. It also has a chip at the rim. Please see pictures) I bought it like that and it does not diminish it structurally at all. It is still very solid. This is a great display piece for any collector.

Up for grabs is this awesome#3 salt glazed handles crock with blue cobalt writing. It has a tan outside glaze with a dark brown inside glaze. It is in great shape for its age but does have a rough patch on the underneath side of one handle and 2 hairline cracks. They don't go all the way through(please see pictures) this crock is very heavy at 13lbs so shipping will be higher. Payment is due within 3 days of auctions end. I only accept PayPal. Thanks!
