Not a hairline to be found anywhere, only some rim chips- the largest measuring just over half an inch in length, just right of center on the top rim. Two more which are very tiny- both toward the back on the inner rim, less than a quarter inch each. There is wear to the blue decoration, but the stenciling is plenty legible. There is also some yellowish staining on either side of the crock. Other minor imperfections such as tiny dings and glaze skips, of which we are unsure whether they occurred in manufacturing. Antique 1800s C&B Skey Pottery Tamworth Oyster Jar Stoneware Crock England This is an antique stoneware oyster jar made by the George Skey Pottery Tamworth. England, in the late 1800s(1870s 1880s) It is 6.75 inches tall and is pale gray on the bottom and light brown on the top. It bears the Tamworth oval mark and the C& B triangle with square mark. It is in very good condition with no overt damage. There are some black marks or residue on bottom and there is a small chip on bottom edge which appears it could have been a manufacturing defect—I mention only for completeness I do combine shipping to save you money on multiple items.

WHAT A CROCK OF. Gooseberry Preserves. Lemon Curd, or perhaps Clotted Cream, Dear Collectors, this is a genuine 19th c antique English lustre glazed Preserve Stoneware Crock Jar peculiar to those made across the big pond for food preservation of yesteryear in the British Isles. Every respectable farmstead would sport several in the kitchen and buttery/pantry for daily use and storage of preserved foodstuffs well before the days of modern refrigeration made these charming sturdy stoneware vessels outmoded and relegated to collector status. Quite similar to American Albany slip brown glaze. The exterior of crock is covered lavishly in pearl brown lustre wash glaze giving it a soft lustre reflective pearl shine with life that dances off the surface at all angles. It features twin lug handles at upper side to aid gripping crock during cooking ... morewith a decorative stamped incised single beaded ring running around the upper middle kissing lower handle extensions. It has a most gentle chamfered base bevel, then the bottom is simply unglazed stoneware clay patina. A thick well formed rim likely once had a lid no longer present, but no matter, clean sage gray green glazed interior is happy to hold your wooden spoons and kitchen utensils in period style. Overall it has a tall, slight flared upright shape like a fine pail with great dignity and usefulness to industrious housekeeper.remember Mrs. Bridges from Upstairs, Downstairs? Hudson would approve and no doubt Downton Abbey has a few on display as well. It stands 6.25" tall and 5.75" across open top. I would guestimate, holds about a quart liquid capacity overall. Up for auction is a Scarce and Marked. Wisconsin Porcelain Company of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin(1919 to Present) 100% True Heavy Porcelain, American Art Pottery, Crock-Jar and Lid with a Brown Speckled and Mottled Gloss Beige Glaze Application along with Gold Trim in"Near-Mint" Used Condition, Circa 1930s to 1970s(or Possibly Later) which was Manufactured for an Unknown Purpose or Client at the time of this listing. This superb heavy porcelain crock-jar has no chips. Cracks, glaze crazing, scratches, scuffs, stains, repairs or factory flaws of any kind. I've graded its condition as being"Near-Mint" because when you look at the gold trim which was only applied to the lid you will see some tiny specks where some of the gold is either thin or worn away. You can see this close up by using the"Super Size" and"Zoom" ... morefeatures I've provided and you'll also see the worn gold isn't that noticeable. It really doesnt' hurt the aesthetic value of this fine crock, but it must be pointed out for accuracy sake. This jar measures about 3 3/8 inches tall with the lid on and without the lid it measures about 3 inches tall. Across the top it measures about 3 3/4 inches in diameter and the inside top opening is about 3 3/8 inches in diameter. The very bottom was left dry without glaze and it's sightly recessed which leaves a 1/2 inch wide ring base for the piece to rest on. The lid for this jar actually hangs over the top ridge so it measures about 4 7/8 inches in diameter and it's about 1 1/8 inches thick. The mark on the bottom is in-mold and it reads"Wisconsin Porcelain Co. within a recessed circle. This crock-jar was made from a true porcelain and it's a heavy porcelain piece weighing just over 2 pounds at exactly 2 pounds. 1.1 ounces. When you weigh the bottom jar section by itself it weighs 1 pound, 4.7 ounces and the lid by itself weighs 12.4 ounces. And glaze runs which are possible. This one does have a noticeable skip by the"5" Piece rings very well. The block letters are unique also as this changed shortly after this period also. For sale is a Antique Albany Slip Stoneware Pottery Jar or Crock. This is an old Wax Sealer sometimes referred to as Earthenware. The jar is 4.75" tall and 4.75" in diameter. The jar is in good antique condition with some edge chipping and a ghost hairline on the base that does not show on the inside. The jar will still hold water. I rarely find these pieces in this size. I have tested it for lead so I would date it to about 1880 to 1900. Glass jars were still quite expensive so stoneware jars were still in use during the late 19th century especially in the South. SMALL BROWN GLAZED CROCK JAR POTTERY STONEWARE 1860 VIRGINIA WEST INCISED RING
Here is a MOST INTERESTING OLD CROCK from WEST VIRGINIA OR VIRGINIA I THINK. I know that it is old. Probably pre CIVIL WAR around 1860- It has a an INCISED RING down to about the middle that sets it apart from most others of its type. It is small, even diminutive, measuring just 6 1/4 inches in height, 4 inches across the top and 4 1/4 inches across the base. The bare clay on the base indicates that it is REDWARE. Now the GOOD NEWS- It is in MINT- PERFECT CONDITION. I cannot find one thing wrong with it. For the age that is REMARKABLE. You will notice that one of the photos make the pot look like blue. That is where the sun was hitting it, a reflection. The interior shows the EXACT SAME BROWN GLAZE AS THE OUTSIDE DOES. GREAT LITTLE JAR. Buyer pays $8.00 domestic shipping and handling. more pictures below description* This large pot is a bit of a mystery. I believe it is oriental or middle eastern. It has a Naga, serpent or dragon on it. It is 16" tall, 17" across top and 11.25" across the bottom. It weighs 37 pounds- it's big& heavy! There are indications that say this might be handmade, like how the glaze does not entirely cover all areas, especially on the outside near the bottom and some other glaze flaws. Also, the brown drip marks present around the outside top. There are many abrasions and marks but still displays well. Other than what appears to be one small chip on the underside of the base rim, it is in superb condition with no other nicks, chips, cracks, crazing or other condition issues. A vintage stoneware fruit canning jar/crock with lid and metal latch. It measures just shy of 8" tall. There is a chip on the outer rim of the lid of about one half inch in width. And another of about 1/4" in width on the lid on the opposite side of the first chip. please see photos) There is also a small chip on the bottom edge of the jar measuring about 1/4" in width. There are some chips on the underside of the lid(not visible when the jar is assembled) The metal hinge is in good working order. The chips are small and mentioned only to be thorough; this jar displays very well. No hairlines or cracks. Miller Pottery Alabama Vintage Pottery Crock Jar Antique Blue Shamrock RARE
This is a huge 22.5 inch high and 17.5 inch wide crock.This is a large 20 gallon stoneware crock I believe to be Miller Pottery out of Alabama. It is 22.5 inches high and 17.5 inches wide. It does have hairline cracks on lower sides that make it where it does not hold water. None of the cracks are structurally relevant it is very sturdy. I tried to show everything on pictures. Has a shamrock on the front and a 20 for 20 gallons. It is a cream colored beige. Inside is dark brown. I put water in it and after a while if started to leak out of a few hairline cracks on the sides. There may be a hairline crack in the bottom but I can see it on the inside but not the outside. No cracks around the lip and it structurally very sound and very heavy. This is for local pickup only. Dallas Fort Worth area. Texas. Unless we make other arrangements. It has a lovely center embellishment- a brown trim on top and bottom with a now quite absent. Floral spray hand painted on. Most of the image is long gone, with only a remnant of the painted flowers remaining. This is a very heavy piece! CONDITION ISSUES: paint is chipped as previously noted, and there's a missing lid. antique C.Hermann Milwaukee Crock fruit jar canning primitives pottery 1856 rare
This is a true antique canning/food storage jar made by the C. HERMANN COMPANY of Milwaukee(1856-1886) Actual exact date of this piece is unknown due to lack of information on the production from this company. This crock was painted gold at one point by a previous owner. paint stripper does not harm the jar and I used it to strip the paint off until I could find a side stamp into the clay. Identifying it as a C. HERMANN CO. MILWAUKEE item. After using this item to store long handled kitchen utensils for a few years I no longer have the space for it so it needs a new home. Research the company and you will find that these crocks are hard to find. This item was brown glazed inside. no repairs, cracks, or chips. This auction is for an antique crockery cookie jar. It is a beautiful blue color inside and out. It has remnants of hand painted flowers. It is missing it's lid. But is still very usable could be for the pot shelf or could put cooking tools in. There is no damage, no cracks, breaks or chips. It measures 9" tall and 5.75" across at the top.
