Up for bid is a vintage pottery crock with the cobalt blue Crown 3 hallmark. The outside is glazed in beige. With a cobalt blue crown. The inside is glazed in a deep brown with rust streaks. USA is marked on the bottom. The crock is a 3 gallon size and measures 11 1/4" tall, 10 3/4" wide. It is in beautiful condition with no chips and only one tiny crack, barely visible in photo 5. Two tone Dark brown glazed pottery 3 gallon crock lid. Has a decorative unglazed circle and button handle. Measures about 11" in diameter for a crock with a 9" opening. In good condition with a fairly substantial nick on the inner rim but doesn't affect a good fit. Has no cracks but has some"water spots" and some lines in the glazing(not cracks) Another E-bayer had a very similar lid at auction and said it is an Illionios or Ohio Pottery lid. MIALI POTTERY El Monte California Small Crock Blue Band 3" Tall- Since 1906. This is a nice crock and it measures almost 3" Tall and 5" across. The edge is wavy in one spot and that is how it was made see last photo. Color of my photo is just a tad more yellow. The item is a bit lighter in color. Kind of a off cream. It has some crazing and that is normal for pottery this old. I am guessing this is around 1920's era. No chips or damage just the crazing. They made butter churns and other crock dishes around the early 1900's. No longer in business. Fast Shipping- Often Same Day You Pay! Stoneware 3 Gallon Cream Pot B.C. Milburn Alexandria Virginia Pottery 1840s
This is a BC Milburn Cream Pot# 3 dating between 1847-1867 from Alexandria. VA. It is a beautiful piece with cobalt floral decoration, slip and applied tab handles. The trailed flowering plant design bears 2 blossoms. Multiple leaves and a central blooming bud. Reverse decorated with 2 blossoms and multiple leaves, shorter stem. Both slip-trailed flowers extend from handle to handle. This piece is 8" in diameter. Slightly larger in center and 14-1/2" tall. There are some cracks in the bottom(3rd from last picture) And a couple of chips on the bottom(last 2 picture) and a chip on the handle. Beautiful piece though and they are hard to come by! Below is some information about B.C. Milburn for your consideration: B.C. Milburn(Benedict Calvert Milburn was the most prolific stoneware potter to work in Alexandria. In 1822 John Swann at ... moreage 33 hired BC Milburn when he was 17 at the Wilkes Street pottery. John Swann did not last in business through bad debts and was out by 1825. The next time we can place BC Milburn at the Wilkes Street pottery is in 1833 when he leased it from Hugh Smith. In 1841 he purchased the Wilkes Street Pottery from Hugh Smith. The ran the pottery business strong until the approach of the Civil War in 1861. BC Milburn had 3 sons that were also in the pottery trade Joseph. Steven, and William. BC Milburn died in 1867. While at the Wilkes Street Pottery BC Milburn produced wares for merchants Hugh Smith, Hugh Charles Smith, and JP Smith… and it was only after Hugh and Hugh Charles’ death that he let the information out that he had produced wares for rival merchant EJ Miller. If you've got yourself a basement bar or require an authentic Period item for accurate decorative representation. Now is your chance to make a shrewd, discriminating purchase-most surviving examples of this type of liquor jug are much smaller than this example, or are priced in the $250 range- are usually shattered& found in pieces, during excavataions. Wheel-thrown pottery body with applied ring-finger handle. Most probably from the latter half of the 1800s. Overall measurements of about sixteen inches high& nine inches inches acrosss. No discernible hallmarks. But a good quality, utilitarian piece brought back from Maine, about three years ago. No cracks. Dings or bruises; very nice& clean& thoroughly presentable. Naturally, there's a small flake off the heel(as shown) that typically occurs when it's being removed ... morefrom the kiln, since crockery tends to stick to the floor of the oven& needs to be'sawn' off. For your consideration is a three gallon stoneware preserve jar with a lid. This preserve jar was manufactured by the Robinson Ransbottom Pottery Company. This company was founded in 1856 in Akron. Ohio and was originally known as Johnson, Whitmore and Company. Through a series of mergers, acquisitions and taking on different partners; it became known as Robinson Ransbottom Pottery Company and was located in Roseville, Ohio. This three gallon preserve jar has a"dirty" white exterior, a brown interior and the lid is"dirty" white on the side that is on the interior and on the side that is on the exterior. The crown with the 3 in it was factory applied under clear glaze and cannot be scrubbed or scraped off. There is an applied handle on each side. This preserve jar is 13 3/8" tall, the opening is 6 3/4" in diameter ... moreand the bottom is 9 1/4" in diameter. This preserve jar looks OK, but on the underside of the lid is a very shallow chip and there is a very tight hairline approximately 1 1/8" long associated with this hairline; this hairline is not visible on the exterior side of this lid. 3 Peoria Pottery Wax Seal Canning Jars Fire Sunburst Regular, Squat, Small w Lid
Grouping of 3 1880's Peoria Pottery Wax Sealer Canning Jars and small galvanized cap lid. All have areas of nice fire sunburst glaze coloring. Pictures 3,4, 5 and 6 are 1/4 turn views. The middle jar has a larger girth and base than the more common size on far right. I have heard some folks call this a"squat" jar. The"Peoria Pottery" mark is weak on the small and squat jar. A poured wax cap with a wire that tucked into edge hole. wire was used to zip open wax top) was a common method to seal this style of jar. A galvanized cap that was also used. The one shown only fits small jar and is snug. Small and regular size jars are free of chips. The squat jar has a bottom edge chip and a inside top rim chip. Along with some small glaze bubble pops at outer rim, pictures 9, 10, 11 and 12. Measurements- Small- 6- 5/8" ... moretall. 4- 3/8" girth dia, 3- 5/8" widest at base. Antique Pittsburgh Pottery 3 Gallon Stoneware Crock
Used 3 gallon stoneware crock made by Pittsburgh Pottery. It is 10-3/4" tall and 10-1/2" wide. The color is beige and it has been used and in our family for over 70 years. These were used for storing lard. Making pickles, storing sausages, cream and milk, and many other preserving and storage duties. This was used but well cared for and is in very good condition for it's age. Crazing cracks are part of crocks and don't affect their useage and are found in all crocks I have seen. There is one manufacturing flaw near the bottom but is only on the outside and doesn't affect the interior. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask and look over the pictures well. Vintage 3 Gallon Crock Stoneware Buckeye Pottery Blue Ribbon Brand Macomb IL
This is a vintage Stonewear 3 gallan crock by Buckeye Pottery. Blue Ribbon Brand, McComb, IL. This is an older, larger mark and is more blue than it appears in the pictures. Approx. 10-3/4" high and 10-3/4" wide(outside rim to outside rim) There are some pretty heavy"drips" in the rim glaze as pictured. And some flea bites along the bottom edge. The largest is pictured and is an old chip as shown in the pictures. With plenty of character. There is also as small stress fracture on the bottom edge but that was done before firing as on closer examination you can see it is glazed over. It does not go through the crock nor does it appear to run any danger of opening or expanding. On the backside at about 2 o'clock from the vintage chip described above is a 3 armed spiderweb(almost a peace symbol without the outer ring) ... morebut it is very hard to capture in a picture and does not seem to be in the glaze but, again, under it. There is also a minor amount of crazing on the bottom inside of the crock with has discolored with age as shown. It is limited pretty much to just the bottom of the crock however and, on a whole, the crock is in very good condition. Please look carefully at all twelve pictures provided and consider my feedback. I generally over describe flaws as I would much rather you be pleasantly surprised than even slightly disappointed. Price includes free shipping within the lower 48 States. Vintage 3 gallon crock. It has no makers name on it. It has the number 3 on it. Nice heavy duty crock. It in in decent shape with a few nicks here and there. Also. Please note the one crack shown in the pictures. The crack goes from top to about 3/4's the way down. To protect the structural integrity of the crock. I did add a little bit off Gorilla Glue in the crack with a very fine needle. After drying, I cleaned it up and it looks as it did before gluing. Out of my 35 years being a collector I've only seen one and it wasn't know where near being as nice as this one is they always get thrown away after it's fired. Folks. Listed is this Vtg Antique Pittsburgh Pottery Diamond Brand 3 gallon Ice Water Stoneware Crock. The logo is not clear but I think this is the Diamond brand logo. Crock has three tight cracks. One is on front and also shows on back. Another is on side and also shows on insde. One is on inside and doesn't show thru to outside. There are no chips. Button on spout still pushes in and out. Crock is 10 1/2" tall. I hate the fact that there are cracks but still a rare piece. Thanks for lookin' Folks. Please carefully examine the pictures carefully. I tried to get every imperfection. The crock stands a bit over 10 inches tall and is a bit over 10 3/4 inches wide from the outside rim. There are cracks. But it is very stable. And as can be seen in the pictures it shows signs of aging. But it is still a beautiful piece.
