Beautiful, Antique, Stoneware Crock with Bail Wire Handle & Original Lid
This auction offers a wonderful antique stoneware crock with a bail wire handle and it's original lid. Overall the crock is in great conditon for it;s age. There are some flaws such as a small chip on the top rim of the crock. And inner rim of the lid. Ware along the top rim of the lid and handle. A small crack on the side of the crock. We have pictured all of these flaws, so please look at the photos before bidding. All and all this antique is in great condition. It is approx. 11" high from the top of the handle to the bottom. The diameter is 6" at the top and 7 1/2" at the bottom. The crock is approx. 7" deep. This crock would make a great addition to any stoneware collection, or as a decorative item in a country kitchen. Here are 2 vintage brown glazed butter or cheese crocks The first one the left does not have a lid or bale. But there are factory depressions for the bale to attach. There is a small chip on the bottom edge. It is 3 1/2" tall x 4 1/2" wide. No marks. The one on the right has the lid. Gasket and bale and is in working order. It has few minor glaze flakes on the bottom edge and inside the rim. It is about 5 1/2" tall including the bale x 3 1/2" wide. It is stamped on the bottom in purple-20822 $F139. It has the#4 that is easy to see and what appears to be the letters Qt to it's right. The second picture show a white place where the bail is attached. This is NOT a chip, but a flaw in the application of the glaze. It is 7 1/4 inches tall without the lid. It measures 10 inches across the widest part(including the handle) The body is 8 1/2 inches across without the handle. The lid is 5 inches wide and the knob is 1 1/8 inches across. A Beautiful Cobalt Blue Crock with Lighter Blue Splatter Accents. I believe this stoneware jar with a bale wired close lid was hand thrown because the mouth or opening of the jar is not fully round. The original gasket is present. Tight seal. Well functioning. Circa 1930's to 1940's. But I'm guessing on this, not certain. Heavy. Substantial Piece. 6" High by 4" in Diameter. Up for bid is a beautful vintage cheese or butter crock stoneware. Dark brown, with a wire bale locking lid. It measures about 5 3/4 at the top. About 4 1/2 inches high without the lid, and the lid adds about another 1 1/2 inches to the height when on. It locks with a wire clasp. A wonderful addition to your collection!

VINTAGE Lot of 8 Brown-Tan-Light Orange BUTTER-CHEESE CROCKS Lid Wire & Ring
Vintage Lot of 8 Cheese/Butter Crocks 5 of them are brown. 1 is a tan/beige color and the other is a light orange color The small tan/beige color is a Watkins crock. It is about 3"diameter x 3"H. The orange color crock is the same size. Both of these have the seal/ring. The metal wire snap top on the orange crock is rusted a little. The 3 medium sized crocks are about 3 1/4"diameter x 4 1/4"H. One has a rubber ring/seal. The other two do not. One of them also has a House of Cheese Sticker on the front which is partially worn off. The metal snap top wire on top has some of the silver color worn off. The 3 largest crocks are 4"diameter x 4 1/4"H. Two of them have the rubber ring/seal. The other crock does not. One of these is marked China on the bottom. There is a number on the bottom of another. The one without ... morethe seal seems to have a small chip. But it is cover with the same color brown as is the crock, so it may have been a manufacturer's flaw. This same crock also has a chip of paint missing on the side. They are all in very good condition. With the exception of some minor flaws. It measures approx. 3 1/4" in diameter and 4 1/4' tall not including the bail and the highest pont of the top or the knob.It has 175 and the cent mark on the bottom. It is in good used condition however it does have some scuffing or scratches on the one side. It does not take away from its use or even its appeal. This is an Antique Cheese Brown Pottery Crock With Wire Bale Hinged Lid in very good condition. It measures 4 1/4" tall to the top of the lid and 3 1/2" across the bottom. There is one very small place on the bottom rim I show in the pictures where the glaze skipped and there are no cracks or chips.There is no rubber seal. The inside of the lid has brown stains on the pottery. The original paper label is very faded but says Cold Pack Cheese Food and a list of the ingredients.there is no rust on the wire Bale Wire. It seal very tight. The bottom of the crock is unmarked and has rings as you can see in the pictures. A very nice piece of brown pottery.

The company has been in business for 35 years or so. Has a chemical or solvent smell to the crock. And I am not sure what it was ever used for. The crock is actually discolored(darker in a large area) And it is possibly due to whatever was in the crock at one time. Color is actually a darker tan than showing in the pictures.
