Old Antique Redwing 5 Gallon Stoneware Crock Jug Butter Churn Red Wing
We have this old Redwing butter churn crock to offer in good as found condition. It is marked with the wing and Union Stoneware logo. It has wire handles. No lid and a nice 4" wing. The crock has a flaw on the bottom that looks like it was made this way. Just a hole, small. not a chip. There is a 1" crack that is on the bottom rim that is also a firing crack. Only shallow and not seen inside. This is a good Redwing Churn and is a hard to find piece. It is in good clean condition and is 16 1/2" tall. This auction is for an anitque stoneware salt glaze whiskey jug crock. This old jug is 2 gallons- as marked on the front. There are no other markings on the jug. It is in great condition. It does have some uneven spots around the bottom that were glazed over and there are a couple of niks on the bottom but they do not affect the integrity of the piece. For sale is an Antique Pickle or Kraut Jug 4/5 Gallon with a Wide Mouth. This is a piece of North Carolina Stoneware circa 1900 made for domestic use. The jug is 8" tall and 5.75" in diameter at the base. It is 2.75" at the opening. The jug is in good antique condition with no real chips and only manufacturing flaws and related ageing defects. The jug still holds water. There are markings on the base but they are indistinguishable either from wear or age. Please examine the photos carefully. I take great effort to take quality photos of all angles and a picture is worth a thousand words. I guarantee the item to be as described. F or your consideration is a Red Wing crock. Pre 1915, which is this one is clearly before the handle patent. These big wing crocks are getting tougher to acquire. This one is crack and damage repair free, but does show some bottom edge chippers in pics# 10& 12. Number 11 shows a factory clay dimple. Always allow for stoneware glaze skips. And glaze runs which are possible. This one does have a noticeable skip by the"5" Piece rings very well. The block letters are unique also as this changed shortly after this period also. Here is a beautiful old water cooler from the late 1800s.doesn't look like it was ever used. It's about 5 gallons with a rich Albany type glaze inside and the upper outside. These were used in saloons. Bars, pubs, hotels and warehouses to hold the refreshment of choice. It is 18" tall.8 1/2" on the base and 38 1/2" around the ovoid middle. I bought it awhile back and was going to get an artist to paint a big red rooster on it and label it red roost rye.as a decorative piece.just didn't happen. The old wooden spigot didn't come with it but I'll throw that in as well. It weighs almost 22 lbs. unboxed so you can figure 25 lbs to your zip from 23851.for postage. Mini Whiskey Advertising Jug 1/2 Gallon New York Liqour House Crock Stoneware
This is one of the neatest Liqour advertising jugs we've put up for sale. It actually has an old four digit phone# on it. And that is very rare. At 8" tall x 5 3/4" this isn't exactly a mini jug, but it is a very nice collectible 1/2 gallon size. The Denver phone service started in 1879. After some research we found that both the Telephone Exchange and The New York Liquor House were on Larimer st. The jug says: The New York Liquor House 2311-13 Larimer Street Telephone 1910- Denver. Colo. The jug is in pretty good shape. No cracks. There is one chip on the upper shoulder. And three chips at the bottom of the jug. All shown in pictures. There are also the usual hand made manufacturing defects that are under the original glaze, blurred and faded stamp, color spots, glaze skips, crazing, debris under glaze, and thats OK because ... morethey show the real age of the jug. This jug comes from a time when the old west days and the Victorian days were mixing together. And they had a telephone. WoW! How cool would it be to call over for a bottle of wine and a guy on a horse delivers it. At the same time when a lot of America didn't even have electricity. Investors this is the real deal. This jug is a collector cross over of several different types. From the wiskey advertising jug, of the old west, to the high tech telephone. Don't miss out. Two years later(in 1878) Frederick O. Vaille obtained rights from Bell Telephone of Boston to develop telephone service in the new Rocky Mountain state. The next year, Denver’s first telephone exchange opened at 1514 Larimer Street above Frick's Shoe Store on the south side of Larimer Street. It housed the 17th telephone exchange in the nation. The office belonged to the Colorado Telephone Company. Three rooms contained a business office, battery room and the central office where boy telephone operators connected the local subscribers' calls. At the time, there were 162 subscribers. For auction is this old 1-gallon stamped crock jug for JAMES DOBBIN'S SON- GROCERS probably dates to the late 1880s-1890s and is in very good condition. The only issue is a minor chip along the lip. It is 11 1/2" tall. Though it doesn't have a place name. I googled this and found an example online from a prior antique sale that noted it as being from Philadelphia and there is an 1899 city directory from Philly that lists James Dobbins Son Grocer. Vintage 3 gallon crock. It has no makers name on it. It has the number 3 on it. Nice heavy duty crock. It in in decent shape with a few nicks here and there. Also. Please note the one crack shown in the pictures. The crack goes from top to about 3/4's the way down. To protect the structural integrity of the crock. I did add a little bit off Gorilla Glue in the crack with a very fine needle. After drying, I cleaned it up and it looks as it did before gluing. 1 Gallon Glass Jug in a Ceramic Crock This is vintage. Age unknown. The patent on the jug was filed in 1957. I will include a printout of the patent that I found online. This is a beautiful item. Great condition for a vintage piece like this. When we found it, it was covered in dust but has cleaned up quite nicely! The crock does have 2 hairline vertical cracks. This does not seem to affect it at this time. The jug is a bit lose but cannot be removed from crock. There is an old"L-3" handwritten on the bottom of the crock. This item is heavy and fragile(10 pounds before packaging! It will ship double boxed. Packed very well, and insured by the USPS. We have been selling unique items on eBay since 1999. Nice handled jug. I see no markings on the item. It is about 10" tall without the cork. There are a few chips along the bottom edge but nothing that would not be expected for its age. The largest is mostly on the bottom. The upper edge of the white also has some chips as seen. Jug weighs about 6 pounds. There are no cracks or anything that I found that would prohibit it from holding liquids. I see no damage to the upper brown area including the handle and mouth area. Photos should show details. The horse drawn carriages were clipclopping past at a lazy pace! This Unmarked 2 gallon Tornado Jug is clean. Mean, and keen inside and out with well stamped hollow numeral"2" on the front upper shoulder, underneath is a very nicely wrought blue cobalt slip Tornado Vortex type of figure, perhaps a fancy Beesting. The décor is perfectly centered and very neatly done with good detail. Overall clay color is a nice even tone light shade. Crock stands 14" tall on a 8" diameter base. The single rear strap handle is strong and perfect and the bottom is toasted light brown from the kiln. Please study all pictures taken outside in natural sunlight this time of year in spring lighting to see actual features. No greasy stains or odors of former contents. Clean aged natural bottom. No repairs. No hairlines, no stone pings. Condition Report: No major issues for item guaranteed 125 years plus! Stands right at 9.5 to 10" tall, has a base diameter of 7" across. It has an A on the side towards the bottom where the handle is. Minor imperfections as crocks go, no cracks that I can see. Antique Salt Glaze Beehive 1 Gallon Jug Crock Whiskey Redwing Western
This auction is for a very old hand made 1 gallon Salt Glaze Jug. This has a hand applied handle and no markings. You can see the lines going around the jug showning it was hand made. The neck has leather aloing the inner walls to seal a stopper(not present) There is a black line shown in the pictures that is not a crack. It is in the salt glaze and not damage. This is a Blue Ribbon Brand Crock/ Jug. It overall is in fair condition. It has surface scratches to the outside and the bottom edge has some small chips out of it. But standing a few feet away looks great. It does retain liquids and could be used for its original intended purpose. It looks very nice as a home decoration and definitely brings a vintage feel to any room. Crock is in good condition. In my opinion there is no chips or cracks on it. A HAMILTON JONES CO. 3 GALLON CROCK It is 10" in diameter. 17" high, and weighs 13 pounds. James and William"Leet" Hamilton founded the Jas. Hamilton pottery company in 1850. And it operated until 1866. They sold the company in 1866 to Leet's son and son-in-law forming the Hamilton& Jones Co. Therefore, this crock was made sometime after 1866.
