AAFA - Small 19th c. Butter Crock w/Cover, Cobalt Blue Swags, 1/2 Gal.
Found in New England is this great looking. Slightly tapered 1/2 gal. salt-glazed stoneware cake crock with 7 repeating dark cobalt blue swags. The dark tan glaze is still glossy and completely covers the bottom as well as the sides. There is a decorative incised line 1-1/2" down from the top that goes completely around the crock. The interior is a rich brown albany slip. Included with the crock is a very nicely fitting lid, although I'm not sure if it is original to the crock. The crock stands only 4-3/4" high with an 11/16" lip x 7-3/8" wide at the top, and 7-3/4" wide at the bottom. The condition is excellent and solid, although there is a professionally filled hairline that can be seen in the last photo. There are also a few old surface chips on the top of the lid. See second to last photo) Other than that, ... moreit is in great shape and displays beautifully. It will be well protected for shipping. I ship USPS Priority and the crock will be insured. The suggested shipping fee is only an estimate, the actual fee will be determined when I know your zip code. Please see my feedback and bid with confidence. Good luck and thanks for looking. BEFORE YOU BID: The color photos are fairly accurate. But if you are very particular about color, or are trying to match other items in your collection, please contact me before bidding. I usually list an item for 7 days and I welcome your questions. On Mar-23-13 at 15:39:16 PDT. Seller added the following information: In the above description. Antique Hamilton & Jones Greensboro Pa 1 gal Crock Stoneware Decorated 19thC VTG
Up for auction is this 1 gallon stoneware crock made by Hamilton& Jones Greensboro Pennsylvania in the mid to late 1800s. It is a putty color stoneware with a clean rich color inside. It is 9 1/2 inches tall. 5 3/4 inches across the top and 6 1/4 inches across the bottom. There is a slight hairline that starts at the rim and is hard to see, starts at top and is 2 1/2 inches long and is inside also. The other is what appears to be a glaze stress line on the back of the crock. As I have tried to show you in last two pics, this hairline or stress fracture starts 2- 3 inches from the top and spiders down like a lightening bolt, as you can see in last two photos, it is not inside the crock. It does reach to approx 2 inches from the bottom of the crock near where there is a chunk chip out of the bottom. Overall this crock is a great piece. ... moreThese imperfections are not noticable. I didn't even see what Im calling a stress fracture to the glaze until just now. I list all imperfections because I want you to know what you are getting. I accept returns if you are not happy within 14 days of purchase, so contact me as soon as you receive our item. See pics. Nicely decorated. Original mid 1800s stoneware crock by Hamilton and Jones, Greesboro, PA as signed. this will look great displayed. One last thing, it does have an uneven bottom and sits well, but slightly to one side(the left, Hamilton side) and will sit alone. Nice decoration in blue. There is some paint on top of crock, see all pics and email questions. Serious bidders only please. Return shipping is paid by you the buyer. Thank you. Have a great day!

Crock antique 1 1/2 gal w #1 lid VG stoneware Eastern PA free shipping pottery
Crock is in VG condition with no chips. Cracks or hairlines, just the normal small surface flaws from the firing like bubbles and a small flake here and there and such but I'm being picky here, it's in great condition. Actually if you look close I don't think it was ever used just put away in a dry kitchen cubbard all these years. The crock not including the lid measures 8 3/4" H x 9" W and has"1 1/2" on the side(see 3rd pics) The lid measures 8 3/8" W and has the#1 on it(see 2nd set of pics) It's a neat find and will make an excellent addition to your collection. 1 Gal. Crock w/ Tie Ring & Vents Made by Western Stoneware of Monmouth, Illinois
For your consideration is a one gallon crock made by Western Stoneware of Monmouth. Illinois. When this crock was manufactured, a tie ring and five vents were included. The tie ring is the extra ring around the top; this is so a piece of cloth can be placed over the top and hehd in place by a string in this groove. The vents are the five indentations on the bottom that allow the hot air and gases in the kiln to circulate during firing. The height is almost 8" and the bottom has a diameter of 7 1/4" This crock has minor chips and major cracks. Please examine the pictures carefully.
Vintage Buckeye Pottery Co. Macomb Ill Crock 1 gal beige maker mark on bottom
Up for auction is a very nice crock. Stamped on the bottom THE BUCKEYE POTTERY CO. MACOMB ILL. This crock was actually quite dirty until I washed it with Dawn, I didn't even know it said any of this! There are no markings on the outside that I can see. I measured how much water this crock holds, and actually it can hold 21 cups of water.to the tip top. Inside measurements are a little less that 6.5 inches, and outside lip to lip measures 7.5 inches. The crock measures a little more than 7.5 inches tall. As you can see by the pictures. There are a few cracks. I do not know true age, my research indicated between 1880's and 1930's. Since these are not something that I collect personally, I am just using a lot of info from the web. Also, I bought 4 crocks total and a shoulder jug from a lady who purchased them at an auction from ... moreIowa. I will be listing the others once they are cleaned up. I will be happy to answer any questions.well to the best of my ability.

VTG Antique 1 GAL Heavy Salt Glazed Tan Stoneware Crock W/Drinking Spout Hole
This is an antique very heavy 1 gallon salt glaze stone ware crock made to be a liquid dispenser. It is in excellent condition. However it is missing the lid and the spout. It is in good to very good condition, there are no large chips, but there is a small one on the inside like a bubble broke during the glazing process and 2 flea bites on the edges. It does have a what looks like a hairline crack on one side but it does not go all the way down to the bottom. There is crazing all over it. It was being used as a utensil holder when I got it. It measures 7 1/2" tall by 7 3/4" wide O.D. 6 1/2" inside, the hole is glazed and is directly on the bottom of the inside so it is 3/4" off the bottom outside& is 1 3/8" wide. It does have a step out around the top to hold the lid up. the lid is missing) The bottom has discolored ... morewith age? I guess. It is very heavy. Antique Webster Bergen North Bay NY Stoneware Jar 1.5 Gal Cobalt Seahorse 1860
Offering a fine example of early American pottery. An open stoneware crock. Or cream jar signed Webster& Bergen, North Bay, NY) I believe of c 1860 era. Decorated with cobalt on the applied lug handles, on the identifying stamp. Also, cobalt opposing seahorses, as well as a seahorse stamp to the right of the identification. All very poorly applied. The jar measures 8 1/4" height and 8 3/4" outside diameter on the opening and 5 1/2" bottom diameter. I've included many images. Please check them closely. Overall in very fine antique condition showing some appropriate indication of age. Some bubble bursts from manufacture. Chips on the inner rim edge and several on the outer edge. Some well glazed over and others from use. Please check the images. Tight. Tight downward hairlines on the rim near the handles on each side. ... moreIncluded in images is a tight line near the bottom. I can feel this with my nail but I'm not certain if it's age or happened during firing. These are not visible on the interior. No leaks or seepage. Overall. An outstanding example of early New England pottery and an excellent addition to your collection.
