Antique 1880s Brown Stoneware Pitcher
This auction is for a beautiful antique brown stoneware pitcher. It has a chip and several flakes on the rim that can be seen in the pictures and a tight 2" crack near the handle from the rim down. Otherwise. It is in excellent condition. There are several spots and color variations on the piece but these have existed from the time of its manufacture. There is some very faint writing on the bottom of the pitcher that appears to be a date 1881 or 1887. The pitcher is 9 3/4" tall and 5 1/8" in diameter at the base.

This is a wonderful old crock pitcher! It was made by U.S.A. and is in the Grape& Leaf design. I believe this piece to be over 80 years old. But I do not know the exact date it was manufactured. The glaze is a rich brown with a cream tone on the inside. The pitcher stands around 5 3/4" in height and is about 8" across at the handle/spout. A very nice piece!

There are no cracks but 3 small glaze chips in the spout area and another one at the base of the pitcher. Not sure of the maker. But the bottom is stamped USA. My mother used this for serving"supper" items during my childhood in the early 1950's. She had already owned it for quite awhile even then. Have been stored in a smoke-free. This is an early big 6 gallon crock from Ohio. OH) It's ovoid form tells you it probably mid-1800s. This big pot is in great condition with just one little tiny line near the lower side that is more of an age line than a knock or drop line. The crock is solid and rings true and would be beautiful beside your fireplace with your other primitives or pottery. It's heavy thick wall pottery. The 6 is incised on the front. Rare 1782 Blue Slip Decorated Pitcher Stoneware Crock Found In New Jersey Tulips
Extremely rare blue slip decorated stoneware pitcher crock dated Nov. 1782. On the bottom when I bought a piece of paper was(and still is. I never removed it. taped to the bottom which reads"Found in South Jersey In The 1940's dated 1782" The piece has a ton of basal wear. And there is no reason to doubt it's that old, or even(to me) doubt where it was found(In my area) I wasn't there when it was found and I'm assuming neither were you. Pitcher has no spout and has the following damage. 4 base chips, a 1 1/4" rim chip and a pie shaped piece at the rim(that's where the chip is) that has been glued.one of the smaller chips is under the tape on the bottom but I'm out of photos(12) It certainly doesn't have a typical US pitcher crock shape but then again there aren't many colonial era dated pitcher ... morecrocks around to compare it to. I realize it has damage, but find another one this early and dated in any condition for any price. I'm not saying it's American made. I don't know. Perhaps it was made by an itinerant artisan. It's a great folk art crock that was used by a colonist in any event. Most sea weed decorated mocha is English but no one seems to mind. It could very well be European, but it does have Penna Dutch style Tulip decoration. You're buying the antique decorated stoneware pitcher/ crock you see pictured. The story is for free. Little Brown Jug Crock Small Pitcher Monmouth Western Stoneware Embossed Diamond
Shown here is this very sweet little pitcher which is probably Monmouth or Western Stoneware. It is unmarked on the bottom. It is about 5 inches(13 cm) tall and about 6 1/2 inches(16.5 cm) from tip of spout to tip of handle. There are no chips. Cracks, fleabites, or crazing on this piece. There are some character marks in the greenware that have been glazed over. The pattern is not the usual concentric circles on most of these pitchers. But of embossed diamonds and around the top a dentil border. Perfect for serving milk. Cream, or heated syrup. Also would be cute used for a wildflower vase. Please see my other auctions for more. But minor, imperfections which include a couple of very small chips at inner edge of coffee pot lid and fleabite chips or flakes on edge of coffee pot spout. 1860's antique stoneware crock pitcher attributed to Samuel Irvine, Newville PA
Up for auction is this very nice stoneware pitcher attributed to Samuel Irvine of Newville Pennsylvania. This crock features a freehand cobalt flower and freehand embellishments to the rim and spout. There are flaws and glaze pops as should be expected with any piece of stoneware from this era. There is a bit of roughness to the lower section of the flower. There are some hairline cracks to the base that have migrated a short distance up the lower sides of the pitcher. I've done my best to capture these in my photos. I see no evidence of restoration. COLLECTION MINIATURE STONEWARE JUGS & PITCHER - REDWARE, ROCK. GLAZE, ETC.
You are bidding on a collection of 12 miniature jugs& pitchers- two pitchers- 10 jugs. The largest are the pitchers and they measure approx. 1 1/2 in. high to the smallest jug which is approx. 5/8 in. high. All in very good condition except for the Meredith's Diamond Club Whiskey which is missing it's handle- photographed. Some are on a red clay with striped glazing. Some have a Rockingham glaze, some brown, one white, one has blue drip over the white. They are crude but done that way and no other damage other than what I stated above. I believe that I had read at some point that other than being give-a-ways at the stoneware factories, some were made for watch fobs which would explain the handle being off the Meredith jug. Offered is an antique stoneware jug style water pitcher measuring 8 1/2" tall. 7" handle to spout and 6 1/2" wide. This pitcher is glazed bristol white with blue sponge ware decoration. It is in good condition with no major damage or repairs. It does have three very faint hairlines on the inner rim edge, very minor and shown in photo below.
