$31.27 Shipping Location: Pittsburgh, United States Late 1800's salt glazed stoneware crock with cobalt decoration. This crock features 4 squiggly horizontal stripes. This crock stands approximately ... more10" in height. Is 6" in diameter at the base, and 6.25" in diameter at the rim. It came out of a north-central West Virginia estate(about 5-min from the PA boarder) so it could be easily be either a SW PA or WV piece. This crock is essentially as-made. But does have a few noteworthy firing defects. Most notably, there is a 3" glaze crack running from the edge if the base up into the lower left side of the decoration when viewed head-on. The crack does not go into the inside, and no evidence of moisture was present after leaving it full of water overnight. There is a 5mm glaze pop to the left side of the decoration, but I believe this to be a firing defect due to the presence of glaze around the edges of the defect. On the inside there is a surface line extending from the rim, but it does not go through to the front of the crock. You may notice what looks like cracks on the underside in the photo of the base. This is neither cracking nor crazing. It is a fluctuation in the natural color. Overall a great piece, and I'll be sad to see it go! Vintage Sherwood Brothers Pottery New Brighton PA OLIVE or CANNING container
Vintage early crock redware? olive or canning jar. nice looking piece of pottery. This jar was potted by Sherwood Brothers Pottery in New Brighton PA and probably sold through E Swasey in Portland Maine. Sherwood made much of the Bristol Ware that Swasey sold. The jar. That has a Sherwood patent, was intended as a packing jar for olives and had a glass lid retained by a steel rod through two of the holes in the lip. The third and lower hole was to bleed the excess fluid during filling. Would have had a bail wire and wood handle. In GREAT condition with no chips or cracks. Measures 6.5" high x 6.25" in diameter. Crock is in VG condition with no chips. Cracks or hairlines, just the normal small surface flaws from the firing like bubbles and a small flake here and there and such but I'm being picky here, it's in great condition. Actually if you look close I don't think it was ever used just put away in a dry kitchen cubbard all these years. Up for bids is an original vintage 2 quart stoneware butter crock from Cramer's Dairy of Bellwood. Blair County, Pennsylvania. Probably from the 1930's or 1940's but may be older. The crock stands 4 3/4" high and measures 7 1/4" wide across the top rim. It is in very nice condition with light overall age crazing and a couple very light stress lines on the inside of the crock as seen in the last picture that are in the glaze only and do not go into the pottery itself. Otherwise the crock is in great condition with no chips or cracks.

Cobalt blue decorated with a brushed cobalt tulips and leaves in a continuous band. Impressed with the 1 1/2 in a circle near the top with a nice tooled collar and rim. It is in fantastic condition such a stunning example of an attributed Remmey pottery piece. There are three very small glaze nicks on the edge of the rim, all the more remarkable considering the nature of the item, a churn. The lid of the dasher is made of hard pine and the dasher itself appears to be possibly hickory. It measures approx. 11 1/8" high and 7 1/8" across its widest. With the churn it stands at approx. 22 1/2" tall. Estate found, really attractive nineteenth century stoneware churn, both in form and decoration. Highly desirable. For sale is a one and one half gallon Lewistown Pottery decorated cream pot. Decorated with a pair of tulips with what appears to be a leaf. Stamped Lewistown Pottery on the front. Has one small chip on the base but very shallow. Has the obvious crack that has been stabilized with an old piece of wire that appears to have been there for some time. No chips other than the one on the base and the crack appears to have come out of nowhere. It may have come out of the kiln this way. Still very solid and heavy with a great rare decoration. The condition is very good to excellent with no cracks and no chips it has a little rough spot on the inner rim but not an actual chip. It measures 8" high and 8-1/4" in diameter at the widest part.

this is a piece of penna stoneware-called Lewistown Pottery(1854-1872)this is a half gallon apple butter crock with an incised line-this is early to middle period-there is one 1/2 inch chip on the back of the rim-covered with Albany slip-the pictures don't do much justice-my digital camera is old and I couldn't get it to focus correctly-the crock is not perfectly circular-it is slightly squashed-the clay was not perfectly ground-there is lumps in it-one of the indicators it is primitive and early period-the stamp is pretty strong-just partially filled in with Albany slip that's all-Lewistown pottery was the predecessor to dipple pottery-john dipple sr worked at Lewistown pottery-it measures-5.5" wide X 5.75" high-it is odd to see small pieces of marked Lewistown Pottery-most are one gallon or larger-if u r local u can ... moreget local pickup
