It is in great shape with only some chipping around the bottom edge which is common for a crock of it's age. It has an indian head ringed with stars and number 3 cobalt blue stamp on the front. For sale is a Louisville Pottery Stoneware 3 Gallon Double Handle Crock or Churn. I have seen these used also as Umbrella Stands. The crock is 13.5" tall and 11" from handle to handle. The crock's mark according to" Lehner's Encyclopedia of U.S. Marks on Pottery. Porcelain& Clay" is referred to as"Indian Head" and was probably made in the 1940's. It is very heavy weighing almost 14 pounds. The crock is in very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Please examine the photos carefully. 6 Gal. Stoneware Crock Cherokee by Louisville Pottery 1905/1930
Nice old stoneware crock by Louisville Pottery Co. This 6 gallon 14" tall. 14" dia. crock has the partial eight star in a circle logo. Actually that logo also displayed the image of a Cherokee indian in the center. Rare crock. Nice size to display. Make sure you read the info about the small hairline crack visible inside the crock as well as two tiny chips. The hairline crack is real small and does not go all the way through the pottery. You really cannot even feel the crack. I cannot say enough about the fine condition of this old crock. The crock has dirt in the bottom so it will clean even nicer. Starting at a reasonable price. Below is some info I grabbed off the net about this crock. It was made by the Louisville Pottery Company. The predecessor of Louisville Stoneware. A man by the name of S.O. Snyder bought an existing pottery ... moreworks, the John Bauer Pottery Co. from Mr. Bauer in 1905 and renamed the company Louisville Pottery Company. Mr. Bauer had been making pickle crocks and butter churns since 1889 and the renamed company continued to produce these and additional utilitarian stoneware pieces as part of its Cherokee line of products whose logo was an Indian brave surrounded by a double blue circle with stars inside. So the jug may have been produced as early as 1905, making it a true antique. The Cherokee line was produced until at least 1930. The Louisville Pottery Company was sold to John M. Robertson in 1970, becoming the Louisville Stoneware Co. and resold in 1970 to Christina Lee Brown, who ran it until her retirement in 2007 when it was sold to Two Stone, Inc. a Louisville investor group. Louisville Stoneware is still in business today. Cherokee 5-gallon jugs appear to be selling for between $125 and $175. With smaller ones somewhat more. Good luck.

Very nice turn of the century Louisville Pottery Indian Head Logo#3 butter churn. It measures 13.5" tall and about 9.5" in dia. in the middle. Has a masher with handle. 2 applied handles in which the top is looped and the bottom is cupped. The lid has a few small hairlines.
