You are bidding on one antique Small size Louisville pottery/stoneware Indian Head crock. This item has the Indian head picture encircled in stars. I do not see any other markings on this item. I assume it is Louisille only because of the indian design. I am not an expert. There is some chips around the top edge. Also there is some chipping on the inside. Please see pictures for condition. This item is approx 3 1/2 inches tall by a bit more than 5 3/4 inches diameter measured from the top. 5 1/2 diameter measured from the bottom. This is an estate sale find. +++A kind ebayer shared this information with me; You are correct that this piece was made by the Louisville Pottery Co. But"it is generally believed that the company ceased using the Indian-head logo and the Cherokee name completely around 1950, thereby allowing the pottery to focus ... morefirmly on the John B.Taylor name. When they were removed, my father, who was on our state Supreme Court, managed to"snag" one which I now have. Second, not sure what you mean by"garlic press" as mine is a small hand-held item. Salt Glazed pottery and stoneware were manufactured in the early 1900's. Most of these were utilitarian stoneware pieces such as churns. Jugs and crocks. This piece is in good Vintage aged condition- some minor chips and repaired crack at part of bottom but not too noticeable. Displays nice! Offered as is. this jug weighs about 10 lbs and measures 12" tall and 7" wide with handle and finger tip grip on side. Very nice turn of the century Louisville Pottery Indian Head Logo#3 butter churn. It measures 13.5" tall and about 9.5" in dia. in the middle. Has a masher with handle. 2 applied handles in which the top is looped and the bottom is cupped. The lid has a few small hairlines.
