This is a vintage African American folk art primitive wax candle. It is made of wax and is in the form of a primitive figure. The candle is likely an ... moreantique and has historical significance as a piece of African American folk art. Even though I have listed this as a wax candle because I found a different one after research, it really doesn't feel like wax, it feels heavier like pottery but I was told that the older wax figurines feel that way. It measures 6 inches tall and 3 inches at its widest point.

The item is sold as is, as found, and as you see it. The sale is for an unusual wood mallet that I think someone stamped letters onto it to personalize. ... moreKitchen utensil folk art, primitive and has age related issues. Dirty, used, scuffed, nicks, worn, stained. The wording makes the item rather cool; more than Grandma's boring mallet. It says on mallet 'Presented by Bob Curley, Chick Smitty, Sonny Beets, to our kitty president and Lucky.' The mallet will have dirt in grooves due to age/use. As found and all I know. Handle may be a tad loose but has a peg and nail on bottom so not about to come apart. See all pics for they are part of description. May have other issues not mentioned but mentioned most significant. Measures 10" X 4".

this is a different take on the classic native American "end of trail" piece. not sure what its made of the figure and the horse look like they were carved ... morein wood but the base looks resin. not going to scratch it to find out. I can find many examples of this piece but none like this. it is about 7 inches tall by 5 1/2 inches long, and about 3 1/4 inches wide. i'm not even sure what to ask for this so i'll start the bidding and see what happens.

Antique Folk Art Hand Painted Porcelain Corked Jug / Teapot - TFK 1901
This is one of my favorite estate finds! Beautifully hand-painted porcelain jug/teapot. Design is of corn ears in vibrant reds and golds. Many pieces from this era were made in Germany and then sent to the United States where they were then hand-painted. I assume that the initials that appear on the stopper and on the bottom are of the artist who painted it.

Antique Brown Salt Glazed Beehive Crock- Canning Crock - Faded Folk Art Painting
Offered for Auction: Old Brown Beehive Shaped Salt Glazed Crock with Faded Folk Art Painting. The crock was probably used for food storage or canning and the painting on the side appears to be a floral arrangement of perhaps dandelions or thistles but it's all but faded with just an outline in teal/green and a little yellow. The crock has seen better days and is being sold as is. I have not cleaned it and I do not know if it will hold liquid. I am uncertain of its age or origin as it is unmarked. Condition: Poor to Fair given its age and use. The crock has surface spalling. Scratches, glaze loss and dings, nicks and chips and there is a chip/void on the edge of the rim. The painted floral design has faded leaving an outline of teal/green colored paint and very light yellow. There are spots of glaze and other discoloration on the bottom ... moreas shown. The interior is dirty and I have not cleaned the crock. The crock measures 8 1/2" H x 5 1/2" W and the opening is about 2" in diameter(inside measurement) and it weighs 2 lbs 15 oz A nice primitive addition to anyone's decor Payment Method: PayPal Please Shipping: USPS Priority or Express I will combine postage with other items if they are small and lightweight and fit easily into the same box Please ask any questions prior to bidding or if you'd like to see additional photos. Early American Folk Art Pottery Stoneware - Pitchers Crocks Jugs Etc. / Book
EARLY AMERICAN FOLK POTTERY by Harold F. Guilland. Chilton Book Co. NY, 1971. Here are the utensils our forebears used– the pots. Plates, jars, beakers, pitchers, bowls, crocks– and the information on how they were made and designed. The author’s] detailed descriptions of the pottery– size, color, design, where made– and the excellent photographs make this the most valuable and comprehensive book that treats of the Colonial earthenware and stoneware tradition, American design and methods and changes from the use of earthenware in 1640 to the time of stoneware, 1700-1880, when the customs and the ensuing needs of American life altered and even the manners and mores of the time reflected in the pottery. Valuable information about techniques and processes are enlarged with examples of how the ordinary adjuncts of everyday life fit into the picture. ... moreThe decoration of a plate or keg often told a story, such as the decoration on a keg which symbolized the high quality of Holland gin which had the‘bite’ of a swordfish or the‘sting’ of a swarm of angry bees! The profuse illustrations, in-depth captions, and rich narrative combine to make this rare book a leading reference on the subject of antique American pottery and stoneware. 7.4” s 10.5” hardback with dust cover in very good condition(dust cover has several puzzle-piece edge chips) 322 pages. On his appointment in January 1863, at the age of 65, Smith was the oldest Confederate general to hold field command in the war. When Virginia seceded from the Union, Smith declined to accept a commission as a brigadier general because he rightly admitted he was"wholly ignorant of drill and tactics" A few weeks after the war started, he was present during a Union cavalry charge at the Battle of Fairfax Court House(June 1861) He took command of the Confederate troops after the death of their commander John Quincy Marr, and found he enjoyed the experience. He requested a commission and was appointed colonel of the 49th Virginia Infantry regiment just three days before the First Battle of Bull Run, where the regiment and new commander performed well. Smith served in the Confederate Congress in 1862, but returned to the 49th Virginia at the start of the Peninsula Campaign. Rare American Stoneware Folk Art Incised Ship Crock
Rare primitive Stoneware Crock with Incised Cobalt Blue Ship. Initialed"AGP" Attributed to Abial Price, the Congress Pottery South Amboy, New Jersey, 1838-1840. And possibly Taunton, Massachusetts, 1827-1838. A rare example, the ship with an British Flag; The reverse with an incised cobalt blue seaweed. Height 11 ¼ in. Crock has some wear, chips and mineral deposits. Overall in good condition for its age. The incised ship has a a British flag on the rear and a flag on the broken mast. The broken mast is often a symbol of victory after battle. Also on the deck of the ship is a incised anchor. Along the sides of the ship there are a couple of rope ladder that are dangling down to the ocean. Perhaps again another sign of a disabled ship after battle. The rear and sides of the ship are also decorated with incised windows. The theme ... moreof the crock possibly could be commemorating a famous naval battle or Colonial victory. Purchased in the Berkshire Mountains. Massachusetts circa 1990. Posted with

White Porcelain Stoneware Crock Painted w Blue Oxide American Folk Art,1900-1940
This is an extremely charming old stoneware crock painted with blue oxide. It probably dates from the mid to early 20th century. It is in very good condition- no chipping or faded paint. It does have a faint hairline crack on its off side. It would look quite fabulous holding cooking utensils on the counter top of a country kitchen. It would also work quite nicely as a vase for fresh cut flowers. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or for additional photos. And. Thank you for your interest. Height: 9 inches Width: 9 inches
