It is 15 1/2" tall and ... more29" in circumference, and 8" wide. The top of the jug is 8 1/2" in circumference and 2 3/4"wide. The handle is in pretty good condition although it does have a 1" chip out of it. It is marked: A.K. Ballard. Burlington, VT, 2" Here is a list of the issues: It has 5 chips on the spout. One is 1 3/4" long and the second one is 1"long. The others are 1/4" long or less. There is also a chip on the handle that measures 1/2" wide. It has a beautiful cobalt design and overall it is in pretty good condition for it's age. There are several places where the glazing has flaked off around the middle/bottom, exposing the pottery underneath. I would say the condition is good but it does have spotting, staining and chipping. There is a surface crack in the glaze that is 6" long and there are about 4 rust stains. Please view all photos as they serve as part of the description. There are two chips on the bottom that are both 1" long. It has some sort of flour/powder on the inside that I have not cleaned out. I will let the new owner do that. It is heavy and even though it has issues, it displays beautifully. I have in this auction a ovoid crock 2 gallon made by A.Ballard Burlington.Vt. It has a bit of blue on top,name ect.It is 10 inches tall,9 1/2 wide at top,6 inches wide at bottom.Not a great deal of wear but a crack on back right side,it is inside also.Still a nice display piece for dried flowers or on a shelf.Please look over carefully and ask any questions.Please visit my other auctions and ebay store.

Antique 4 Gallon Stoneware Crock A. K. Ballard 1850-1870 This Antique 4 Gallon Glazed Crock has an unusual floral decoration in cobalt blue across the front. It is approximately 11 3/4 inches high and is about 11 1/2 inches across in diameter. Stamped at the top with: A. K. Ballard. Burlington, VT. Alfred K. Ballard used this maker's mark between 1867 and 1874. It also has the number 4 stamped on the front, just under the maker's mark, indicating the 4 gallon size. This Antique Crock is in good condition for it's age. It does have some places where the glaze has come off probably due to bumping throught the years. the biggest place measures 3 1/2" x 4" in the back) in the back.Along the rim, and on the handles. There are some chips and minor cracks in the glaze along the rim which can be seen in the pictures. Incised mark reads H.N. Ballard-Burlington Vt.2. This is the mark of Hiram N. Ballard of the famous Ballard family of potters. Hiram alone ran the pottery in Burlington in 1855 after buying the failed Nichols pottery. He was joined in 1856 by his brothers and the stamp changed to O.L. and A.K. Ballard. The H.N. BALLARD mark is one of the rarer marks that you'll find by this pottery. The measurements are 9" H x 9" Diameter. Highlight of this nice piece is the decorative cobalt flower with its beauty and simplicity. Please note that ... morethere are a few small chips out of the cobalt flower in our photos. The condition of this crock is very good. There are the expected bumps. Small marks from manufacturing that make these pieces special! There are four tiny red spots seen in the cobalt decoration area. There is a small surface only crack located on one handle. Note that there are two manufacturing defect areas at the base and a blue shaded area on the backside of the crock. Antique stoneware jug with a salt glaze manufactured by A. K. Ballard of Burlington. VT. This classic piece has two handmade handles and has been stamped with the company name. Below, the crock has been decorated with a cobalt blue leaf-like design. A. K. Ballard made stoneware in Burlington under his own name from 1867 until his death in 1874. This piece is in fair condition. With some hairline cracks to one side that have caused the pottery to darken. There are also some small chips around the rim. Please examine the pictures provided. You are bidding on an antique Salt Glaze Crock. This crock has a blue floral design on the front and says"O. L. A. K. BALLARD. BURLINGTON, VT, 3" This crock measures approximately 11" tall and approximately 10" across the top. This item has been repaired, it has been glued back together. You can see this in all the photos. The repair was made to the back half of the crock. All the pieces are there. The front of the crock was not repaired. You can not see the repair when it is displayed and does not take away from the piece. This piece weighs approximately 11 pounds 2 ounces before it is packaged. Very heavy piece.
