Offered for your consideration is this antique/primitive salt glaze American Folk Art stoneware crock jar with it's original lid. Has cobalt design depicting what I think is either a bee sting or hummingbird and the number 4 for it's 4 gallon size.Measures 14 1/2 inches tall and is 9 inches wide at widest. Opening is 4 3/4 inches in diameter. Very heavy.almost 20 pounds. Has no cracks! Some age-related usage staining and just one chip to top outer rim edge as shown in pictures. Very nice! This auction is for an antique H.H. ZIGLER NEWVILLE PA. stoneware crock. It has a nice clear stamp as shown and rather small measuring just 6 1/4" tall by 7" across the top. Crock only holds about 3/4 gallon. There is an old rim chip and some light staining as shown. Rim chip is located on the back side. Directly across from the stamp and can't be seen when displayed. Up for auction is an Antique Haxstun Ottman& Co. 4 Gal Fort Edward Decorated Blue Bird Stoneware Crock. This is a lovely large salt glaze crock with a beautiful large cobalt blue bird standing on a branch in the front. The blue design is 9 3/4" long X 6 1/2" high. Each side has the applied ear handles. Which are in excellent condition. This is a very decorative collectible crock. The bird design is eye-catching. Markings: Huxstun Ottman& Co. Fort Edward. NY 4(4 gallon) Circa: 1867- 1872. Measurements: 11 1/4" tall. 11 3/4" in diameter at the rim. Base is 11 1/2" in diameter. Condition: Very clean inside and sturdy but there is a tight hairline that runs half way down the back and into the base. Shown in picture 6& 7 as well as the last two pictures. There are external discoloration stains at the bottom ... moreand on the base as shown in the pictures. The bottom of the base shows a spider hairline, see last two pictures. The rim has a chip, shown in picture 8. The inside and the back have some flakes in the glaze, shown in picture 9& 10. Complete with primitive wood lid and dasher. It's cobalt glaze acorn insignia reads: ACORN WARES | UHL POTTERY CO. HUNGTINBURG, INDIANA. Condition: Very nice! The wood lid and dasher show some age(splits and just age plus it's imperfectly round; the glue to the plunger is old and brittle. A bit loose- but easily re-glued) But the crock itself is in beautiful vintage condition. There are surface imperfections(character and patina) but they all appear to be original to the manufacture of the piece. Or just from age(slight crazing) i.e. no discernable damage or repairs. Pleased to offer this beauty of a crock lid. I am not sure which crock maker produced this. It has a wonderful button handle with decorative embossing on it and ribbed pattern around it. Nice brown glaze center on top and interior. Clay exposed on top appears yellow. Embossed with a"3" 3 Gal) but it would possibly work on a 4 or even 5 gallon crock. I had it on a 5 gal and it covered opening. Just didn't extend to outside edge. Check measurements for your crock. PLEASE NOTE: The brown glaze had a white film on it in places(almost like salt or tainted water got on it) I cleaned and applied Linseed oil(not greasy) which restored it's beauty. In the future it may require a re-treatment of oil or polish. This is a large heavy butter churn with an incised 4(4 gallon? but there are no other markings. Churn stands approx 15" high x 10" wide. And outer rim is 8" inner rim opening 6 1/2" The wooden paddle pole is pretty old, disc area is a little warped, and you can see some splits in the wood but is definately old! Contained 5" hairline crack in the middle near a handle that spiderwebs at the bottom. There is a crack that runs about 5" around the bottom(side. 4 gal. New York State Stoneware salt glazed crock with Chicken pecking corn. Circa 1880 This item is a 4 gal New York State salt glazed stoneware crock with a cobalt slip design of a chicken pecking corn. Crock is in very good condition with 2” of surface glaze missing on the right handle. 1” of surface glaze missing below the right handle. There is one small ping under the right foot of the chicken and another smaller ping is to the right of the same foot. The inside is very clean with the exception of a small ping toward the front top. Circa 1880. Not bad for 130 years.

It is rare to find this item with all of these pieces. The stand is painted grey and is free of rust. It is marked"197" There are no markings on the stoneware. Total height is 42" tall with the water jug on the metal stand•The grey painted metal stand has 3 legs and is 28" tall. It is clean and rust free with a few minor blemishes. 4 gal. Riedinger and Caire. Poughkeepsie, NY Stoneware Crock Salt glazed crock with Bird on a Stump. Circa 1857- 1878 This item is a 4 gallon salt glazed crock produced by Riedinger and Caire of Poughkeepsie. NY between 1857- 1878. It has a well draw cobalt slip design of a bird on a stump by a familiar artist. It has two hairline cracks in the front from the rim, another in the back and the bottom front. Several interior chips and one larger dings on the front(see photo) The inside has a few calcium rings and one hairline crack on the bottom. There are chips on the left handle and several glaze chips on the back. Not bad for 150 years old.

This set is 4 Pieces containing a 30 gallon. 25 gallon, 15 gallon, and 3 gallon. They are all identical and are in excellent condition but are in desperate need of cleaning. The 15 gallon one is etched with the number 15 but does not show the black ink anymore. These are down in my basement and have been there their entire life. The property dates back to the Civil War and supposedly has never left the family. Everyone says these crocks were there longer than them so I have no idea how old they really are but we know back as far as early 1900's but some think they go back even farther than that. They are cream color on the outside and dark brown on the inside. If anyone has any info on these it would be greatly appreciated, in the meantime Happy Bidding!

Red Wing Union Stoneware was formed by the merger of Red Wing Stoneware and Minnesota Stoneware; both companies were located in Red Wing, Minnesota. Of the several ovals used by the Red Wing Union Stoneware Co. this oval was in use the earliest and is on stoneware pieces with the leaf trademark. The height is approximately 14 1/2" The inner rim, that the lid sits on is 7 1/4" in diameter, however a lid as small as 7" in diameter, could be used. The bottom has a diameter of slightly more than 8 1/2" On the side is crow's foot hairline with the longest hairline being almost 1 1/8" long; this hairline is not visible on the inside. ... moreOn the inside is a hairline that is less than 3" long that is not visible on the outside. On the bottom edge(almost exactly in back) is a chip that has a diameter of less than one inch and a depth of 1/8 of an inch. Around the edge where the lid sits are minor to insignificant chips. We just purchased part of a huge collection of crocks There are 10 total. Counting the whiskey jug! We have poured water in each one(the first 7 hold 1 gallon) We left water in each of the crocks for 4 hours and didn't see any leaks However we will not guarantee that they won't leak Each one is different and like things made one hundred years ago. A lot of these have imperfections. We happen to like the little dings. Color drops and weird lines, ridges and bumps. Look at all photos as they are a very big part of the description. We have tried to show all chips. Any finish issues and the top edges inside finishes and the bottoms. Most of these crocks could be used in brining with some cheesecloth and a weighted plate. The 4 and the birchleaf logo are in blue with the 4 and the birchleaf joined together to form one design. On this crock, there is not an oval and there is not a bottom mark. Some people believe that crocks, jugs and churns, made in Red Wing, Minnesota that do not have a manufacturer's mark were distributed by Sears-Roebuck or Montgomery Ward. The height is 11 3/4" and the bottom is 10 3/4" There are 0 cracks, however on the front of the top rim is a chip-like defect approximately 3 1/8" long. On the bottom edge is a chip. The corner of the birchleaves missing, is a manufacturing error. Please carefully examine the pictures, as the pictures are part of the description.

Wm.E. Warners Manufactory West Troy 4 gallon ovoid crock. No repairs one small ship on one ear. One 15" tight hairline and one 6.25 tight hairline on the base, they do no appear to go through. Title: Old Antique Binghamton. NY Cobalt Blue Bird Design 4 Gallon Stoneware Crock Descr iption: Presented for your consideration is this interesting crock. This crock is stoneware and was used for pickling and fermenting food and/or water. This crock has an intricate bird design on the front in cobalt blue. Above the design is"W. Roberts Binghamton NY 4" in cobalt blue lettering. The crock has a natural grey coloration and is finished with a smooth glaze throughout. Inside of the crock is dark brown. A small handle is on each side of the crock for easy carrying. Dates to the 19th century. This crock would make a great addition to any stoneware or crock collection! The front of the crock. Near the design is sunk in; a flaw in the manufacturing of the crock. Crock sits uneven due to the flaw. Another flaw, a flattened portion, is ... morealso on the front near the bottom. Please see the photos to see the severity of the flaw. A chip is out of the inside top edge and a small chip is out of the exterior near the bottom edge. Small surface chips are on the front with the largest being near the bird's tail. Felt stoppers were added to the crock at one point. Typical minor wear from age and use. No cracks. Antique Burger & Lang Rochester NY Stoneware 4 Gal Crock Cobalt Leaves Glaze Jug
Up for bid is a lovely 4 Gallon Antique Stoneware crock decorated with a cobalt blue foliate design and stamped Burger& Lang Rochester NY Stands 12" tall and measures 12" in diameter at the rim. Jug is in very good condition with only a small 4" hairline crack that does not go all the way through. This piece was part of a collection I recently acquired from a local Northern Virginia Estate so if you like this sort of thing please see my other listings.
