Antique New York Stoneware Blue Flower Salt Glazed 4 Gallon Stoneware Crock
Up for auction is an Antique New York Stoneware Deep Blue Flower Design 4 Gallon Crock. The New York Stoneware Co and the number 4 is impressed. The flower design is a very dark cobalt blue. Each side has an applied elephant ear handle. Circa: 1859- 1885. Fort Edward. NY) Measurements: 11 1/4" tall. 11 1/2" in diameter at the top. Base 11" in diameter. Floral decoration is about 5" wide X 6" tall. The blue floral decoration has dots and circles. Condition: This crock is being sold AS IS. This is a solid crock but it has issues. Large Blue decoration has excellent dark cobalt blue color but has a chip at the top branch. Shown in picture 2. There is a large chip at the rim above the ear handle, picture 8. The same ear handle has a chip underneath the handle, shown in the same picture. On the outside, there is a spider ... morehairline that starts on the bottom and runs up the side, see close-up picture in picture 5, 10& 11. I would not trust this crock to hold water. There is one small chip in the dark brown glaze on the inside, last picture. Picture 5 shows a raised dark spot on the outside which appears to be from the manufacturing process. See all pictures. Stoneware was once an almost universal material in American homes. The versatile. Nonporous ceramic made ideal containers of all kinds, including the ubiquitous stoneware crock. Stoneware is made of gray and tan clays fired to a high temperature. As there were few American producers prior to 1800, most existing antique stoneware crocks date from the 19th century. Up for auction today is a rare Red Wing Salt Gla zed Crock 4 gallon Bee sting mark Absolutely wonderful for this p ie ce being over 100 years old. Made be tween 1877-1 897-has the bee sting or to rnado sty le mark with hand pressed or hand molded handles(elephant ear-I think is what they call that) Red Wing stop ped using the Salt Glaze Process in 1897. So this dates before that. One handle is broken-more like chipped- as shown in the pictures. Other than that. The molted or dimpled glazing is in g reat condition with some marks. As can be seen. Extremely Rare M&T Miller Newport, PA 2 Gallon Crock (Near Mint)
You are bidding on a original 2 gallon M& T Miller decorated stoneware from Newport. Pennsylvania. This crock has a beautifully painted large cobalt blue floral design. These crocks are extremely rare and have sold at auction for well over $10.000. The crock displays beautifully with the painted blue floral design being in extremely fine condition. At the top of the crock the words"M. T. Miller Newport. PA 2" can be seen. This crock is in very nice condition. I would describe it as mint if there wasn't a couple extremely minor flaws. At the top of the crock there are two small chips measuring 1/8" 1/4" No Cracks There are two more chips. But can not be seen when being displayed. Underneath the one handle I can feel a very small chip, and on the bottom of the crock is another chip. I took a picture of where the ... morechip on the bottom is to illustrate that it can not be seen when it is sitting flat(2nd to last photo) It can only be seen when the crock is flipped over. I live roughly 15 minutes from Newport. PA and came across one a few months ago and listed it for sale. That crock had a couple major problems with it including two large cracks that almost went the entire way down the crock. It also had numerous chips. I have seen one M&T Miller jug for sale on ebay since then, and no crocks since mine. And when I searched on ebay when I purchased the first crock I could not find one that had been sold. This shows just how extremely rare these crocks are. Also, to find one in this type of condition could, without paying an extremely high price, take months upon months if not years. This is a Vintage Blue Crown 2 Gallon Stoneware water Cooler Crock With Lid A nd Sp igot. Th is is a cool old crock. I do not know it's exact age. I t looks like the lid may be a replacement but I cannot tell for sure. The spigot is pla stic and the interior of the cr ock and lid are immaculate so your guess as to the age of this is as good as mine. This would make a big hit on your Thanksgiving beverage table or next summer picnic. The exterior of the crock has quite a bit of crazing and also has a yellowi sh discoloration of the glaze. i do not know if it could be cleaned off but I do know it adds to the character of the item. We are listing today for your consideration a lovely Antique 19th Century Stoneware Saltglazed Cobalt Blue Flower Design 2 Gallon Ovoid Crock. This crock is in Excellent Condition with a few spider cracks on the base with 2 going through to the inside. 3 of them extend up the outside bottom of the crock. There are minor shallow chips to the upper rim. Both outside and inside. The crock is 100% structually sound, it rings true when you tap it and holds water no leaks. No other issues at all. The crock measures 12" tall x 10" wide x 8" at the mouth x 6 1/4" at the base and weighs approximately 10lb 10oz. The crock has an incised 2 below the one handle. 10 Gallon Antique Crock
This Crock seems to be in very good shape. I could not see any cracks or chips. It does have a couple spots of what seems to be latex paint on it. I scratched at one of them with my fingernail and the paint started coming off. So it should clean up nicely. The pictures are of all sides, I rotated the crock as I took them, so you can refer to them for the condition of the crock. Ohio was/is well known for its good clay soils for producing pottery, ceramics& glass. 6 Gallon Crock Western Stoneware Co Maple Leaf #6 BLEMISHES, INTACT FANTASTIC!!
This auctin is for a Vintage 6 Gallon Western Stoneware Crock. Has the maple leaf and the number 6 on the front in blue. This has blemishes and hair line fractures but is intact. I hope the pictures help you. Someone placed a piece of tape along the bottom, I started to remove it but will let you finish. It has two chipped areas along the bottom, top is not chipped. As mentioned there are spider veins or hair line fractures going through it, but no daylight cracks or breaks. Stands right at 13.5" tall and the top diameter is right at 12.75" wide. Vintage Stoneware Six Gallon Salt Glaze Crock with Stenciled 6 and Decor
For your consideration is a salt glazed six gallon crock. I am not sure what company manufactured this crock. However there are some clues that could help: It is yellow(or at least I think it would be if properly cleaned) The 6 and th decor around it were stenciled on. The decor around the 6 has an outside diameter of approximately 2" The crock is hand turned. There is a sigle trim line, running not more than 1/8 of inch below the rounded rim and another single trim line approximately 1 1/4" below the rim. This crock stands approximately 13 1/2" tall and the bottom is approximately 12" in diameter. This crock is very stable, but has the following imperfections: In the front and running downward into the decor circle, is a very tight hairline approximately 4" long. Closer to the right handle, than the front is a three ... morehailine"crow's foot" each of the three hairlines are between 2 1/2" and 3 1/2" long and all three are very tight. On each handle, are minor to insignifcant chips. On the backsideare some places where the glaze is missing. This crock is basically in"as found condition; all I did was wipe the dust off. Old Antique Redwing 5 Gallon Stoneware Crock Jug Butter Churn Red Wing
We have this old Redwing butter churn crock to offer in good as found condition. It is marked with the wing and Union Stoneware logo. It has wire handles. No lid and a nice 4" wing. The crock has a flaw on the bottom that looks like it was made this way. Just a hole, small. not a chip. There is a 1" crack that is on the bottom rim that is also a firing crack. Only shallow and not seen inside. This is a good Redwing Churn and is a hard to find piece. It is in good clean condition and is 16 1/2" tall. Stoneware Five Gallon Hand Turned R.R.P. Co. or Crown Brand Crock
For your consideration is a hand turned five gallon crock made by Robinson Ransbottom Pottery Company of Roseville. Ohio. This company was founded in Akron, Ohio in 1856 as Johnson, Whitmore and Company; through a series of mergers, acquisitions and taking on new partners, it became known as R.R.P. Co. and was located in Roseville. I think(think, not 100% sure; if anybody knows for sure, please inform me) the mark on this crock was used during the 1930s. The crown is in blue and under the clear glaze; meaning it cannot be scrubbed or scraped off. The interior of this piece of stoneware shows evidence of being hand turned. There is a large USA debossed into the bottom. This stoneware crock is almost 13 3/4" and the bottom is almost 11 3/4" in diameter. This crock has 0 cracks, however it has a chip where the left side of the front ... moremeets the bottom; this chip is less than 1/4 of an inch in diameter and is very shallow. The interior glaze feels rougher than usual on a hand turned crock. Please, carefully examine the pictures, as the pictures are part of the description. Check out my! 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Crock 5" tall by 7" diameter SMALL FRACTURE,ADDS CHARACTER!
This auction is for a vintage 1/2 gallon stoneware crock. This measures right at 5" tall and has a diameter right at 7"across. This has a fracture in the that start part way down the side and continues half way across the bottom. This is a fracture not a break. I am not sure what the crock was used for, I have cleaned it up, you may want to do more. Most crocks will have a fracture and some blemishes, to me it adds character to these pieces. For your consideration is a three gallon crock made of stoneware. This crock was manufactured by Red Wing Potteries of Red Wing. Minnesota. This company was previously known as Red Wing Union Stoneware(1906-1936) and was originally known as Red Wing Stoneware(1877-1906) Part of Red Wing Potteries production was stoneware until 1947. This crock has a Red Wing that is 2" long. This crock is slightly more than 10 3/4" tall and the bottom is approximately 9 7/8" in diameter. This crock has a crack that is approximately 13" long. This crack starts at the rim and is vertical for 3-4" then curves until it is almost horizontal when it ends. There are chips associated with this crack. Here is a white glaze one gallon stoneware crock. It is side stamped in cobalt blue RUCKEL'S STONEWARE. It is also bottom marked RUCKELS STONEWARE WHITE HALL ILLINOIS. It is in excellent condition. There is only one glaze pop located to the right of the side stamp(see photo) There are no chips or cracks. It does have light crazing appropriate for its age and it is very clean. The smaller gallon sizes are harder to find because they were used more often and thus more breakage occured. Nice specimen. In my opinion. I would rate this one 8 or 9 on a scale of 10. Vintage 3 Gallon Red Wing Union Stoneware Co Crock Redwing MINN. 10" Tall NEAT!!
This auction is for a Vintage Red Wing 3 gallon crock. Has a blue number 3 on the front. A red wing and the Red Wing Union Stoneware Co. Red Wing Minn. Stands right at 10" tall with a diameter of right at 10.5" across. This has some blemishes, a chip on the rim and fractures across the bottom as you can see in the photos. Also on the bottom someone has placed felt pads so the crock wouldn't scratch any surface it set on, these could be removed. This is solid, the fractures are not breaks. Antique 1 Gallon Stoneware Gray Colored Crock With Cobalt Blue Feather Design
Up for bids is a one gallon antique gray colored stoneware crock with a cobalt blue feather pattern as pictured. The crock is probably native to here in southwestern Pennsylvania where many famous potters made their crocks and jugs with this color clay and blue designs in the mid 1800's. The crock stands 10 1/4" high and measures 6 1/4" wide across the top rim and 6 3/4" wide across the bottom. If your looking at the crock from the front where the number one is there is one chip on the top left side. One chip on the bottom edge on the right side and a tight 4" long hairline crack on the back side as seen in the pictures. Otherwise the crock is in very nice solid condition. Rare Primitive Stamped 3 Gallon Crock Antique Salt Glazed Crock W Cobalt -Fisher
Unique hand painted three gallon salt glazed crock with beautiful cobalt blue markings. This is one from my personal collection that I need to whittle down a little bit. Its absolutely beautiful! The cobalt blue flower and number three richly stand out. The front of the crock is STAMPED"J FISHER LYONS NY" and was made sometime between 1872 and 1902. It measures 9 3/4" tall and 11" wide not including the handles. There are two cracks on the back that are pictured. Since they are on the back they do not affect the ability to display this piece. Antique 4 Gallon Stoneware Crock A. K. Ballard 1850-1870 This Antique 4 Gallon Glazed Crock has an unusual floral decoration in cobalt blue across the front. It is approximately 11 3/4 inches high and is about 11 1/2 inches across in diameter. Stamped at the top with: A. K. Ballard. Burlington, VT. Alfred K. Ballard used this maker's mark between 1867 and 1874. It also has the number 4 stamped on the front, just under the maker's mark, indicating the 4 gallon size. This Antique Crock is in good condition for it's age. It does have some places where the glaze has come off probably due to bumping throught the years. the biggest place measures 3 1/2" x 4" in the back) in the back.Along the rim, and on the handles. There are some chips and minor cracks in the glaze along the rim which can be seen in the pictures.
