$10.00 Shipping Location: Fort Collins, United States Here is a nice brown crockery lid for a bean pot. The lid measures about 6 inches across and is one early and unique lid. Let me start out by saying that ... morethis lid is in near perfect condition. What looks like chips in the photos are actually notches that were made into the lid. Look closely and you will notice that the notches are almost equidistant from each other and are almost identical in size. The brown glaze is in the notches themselves so they were not added afterwards. The only chip in this lid is a small flake on the underside near one of those notches. It does not show from above. I have had a couple dealers examine this and they were stumped as well on the reason for the notches. They surmised that it would be for ventilation. But venting what was the mystery. It is rather small for a sauerkraut or pickling crock unless you are making small batches. To further the mystery was the fact that the underside of the lid was not glazed. There is a spot where the glaze ran some to the underneath which I show in one of the photos. One dealer believed that this lid may have been hand molded as there are what looks like finger imprints and a finger nail imprint on the inside of the underneath lip/rim. This rim measures about 3 7/8 inches across. I can place my thumb nail in that nail indentation perfectly and it balances on my thumb nail in a way so that you could brush on the glaze with your other hand. This way no finger prints would be made on the top glaze. Also, if you look at the side view photos you will see a slight wavering to the lid. I am assuming that the thin outer rim sagged a bit while drying or firing. You just do not run into lids like this in this condition very often. If you have any early primitive brown bean crocks in your collections that need lids this would be a great replacement for them. If you have any other questions let me know. Image 12 shows the depth of the glaze and crackling depth. Polychromic Hand colored transfer of a stylized water bird resembling a Great Blue Heron wading in flowered wetlands decorating each side of syrup body has great color and is in beautiful condition. Interesting thumb lever appears to be styled or formed as the back of a book and is serrated in a chevron on the thumb side for a sure grip while pouring. Stands 6 1/2" to the top edge of the slim tankard. And 8" to the finial on beautiful conical lid. Handsome slim tankard form with beautiful classic loop handle with great thumbrest. You will not find many of these around in this condition. Stamped"BENNETT'S/ JAN 23. 1873/ PATENT" I would be interested in the patented feature or innovation represented by that patent. I have up for sale a wonderful vintage Arts& Crafts style Zanesville Matte Green Art Pottery Umbrella stand. It has a very nice deep cucumber green glaze. Stands approx 22-1/2" and approx 10" diameter. It is unmarked but documented and authenticated as Zanesville Pottery. It would make for a perfect addition to any Mission or Arts& Crafts decor. It is in Very Good to Excellent Condition- I see no damages but there are a fair amount of glaze miss spots through out the piece. The past owner must have tried to cover a couple of these spots with some sort of dark green coloring- I cleaned most of the spots off as much as possible. This is fairly minor but noted. England, in the late 1800s(1870s 1880s) It is 6.75 inches tall and is pale gray on the bottom and light brown on the top. It bears the Tamworth oval mark and the C& B triangle with square mark. It is in very good condition with no overt damage. There are some black marks or residue on bottom and there is a small chip on bottom edge which appears it could have been a manufacturing defect—I mention only for completeness I do combine shipping to save you money on multiple items.

There are some minor flaws; a flake inside bottom of crock/ pot which can be seen in the pictures. A very minor hairline from top edge; approximately 1-1/4" on the side near one of the handles. Does not reach the handle. Very minor in my opinion. There is some crazing common to a piece of this age. There are some areas of relections in the images, including a grayish cast, sorry. Approximate dimensions: 27" around, just below the handles- 23" around the bottom- 6-1/2" deep- 6-1/4" across the opening- 9-1/4" across handle to handle. This bean pot/ crock is a nice heavy weight. ANTIQUE ROYCROFT ART POTTERY LITTLE BROWN JUG ARTS CRAFTS OVOID STONEWARE CROCK!
I am selling my highly collectible ANTIQUE early's ROYCROFT SHOPS ARTS& CRAFTS ART POTTERY" LITTLE BROWN JUG" As I need to downsize some of my pottery collections. This darling"Little Brown Jug" stands 5" tall X 4" at the widest point of the jug body. The spout sits 7/8" above the body and the handle is large enough to put a fat finger through. The handle sits 1 1/4" out to the side. This little jug is heavy art pottery stoneware in the traditional Arts& Crafts manner with the typical satin matte glaze. The glaze is a rich coffee brown and there are several decorative"rings" under the glaze at the widest point in the body(see photos) This was made by the Roycroft Shops out of Aurora NY in the early 1900's. The jug is marked on the unglazed underside with the Roycroft" ... moreR" in a circle below the stylized cross. The impression of the stamp is not deep. But legible. The jug is in very good antique condition, it is almost 100 years old! There are no cracks, chips or repairs however the rich brown glaze does have a few little"glaze pops" here and there in the glaze only, not the clay. There are three small glaze pops that are the size of a large pin head and another a bit larger, about 1/8" in diameter. Most of these are in one area so the jug will display nicely. They are old glaze pops that are often found on art pottery, as this is the nature of the glaze. This is not considered damage as these"pops" usually occurred during firing and manufacture. The glazes are never smooth and there are usually little lumps and bumps under the glaze. These pops are tiny and well documented in my pictures. Roycroft shops art pottery is highly collectible and this is a nice size. This would look perfect with your other primitives. Mission setting or for display with dried straw flowers. I have a lot of Mission furniture and this is a nice accent piece. This is a thick, heavy little jug, thus the shipping cost. This is a great price as

Crock is in very good condition, 1 tooling mark on top rim, a hairline crack along the side of mark, running down approx. 3 inches, also 1 hairline running from bottom up, approx. 7 inches, and about 1 inch on bottom, and 2 inches another way on bottom. Very solid, crock does ping. Some minor roughness around inner rim, handles are in good condition, a little roughness. Normal ware and tear. Vintage Antique Stoneware Canning Crock w/ Lid Handpainted Pottery Estate Fine This is a from an old estate sale. It is almost 9.5" tall. 5 3/4" acrossed the opening, andabout 7" acoss bottom, I would say this would hold over a gallon, There are no cracks to this crocks sounds great, There is some chipping to the bottom and the underside of the lid, If I am correct these crocks were used for storeing meat, you would fry it and place it in the crock and pour fat drippings over the meat and store in a cool place, you could then pull back some of the fat and get your meat out, then put the fat back on this would keep for a good spell. WHAT A CROCK OF. Gooseberry Preserves. Lemon Curd, or perhaps Clotted Cream, Dear Collectors, this is a genuine 19th c antique English lustre glazed Preserve Stoneware Crock Jar peculiar to those made across the big pond for food preservation of yesteryear in the British Isles. Every respectable farmstead would sport several in the kitchen and buttery/pantry for daily use and storage of preserved foodstuffs well before the days of modern refrigeration made these charming sturdy stoneware vessels outmoded and relegated to collector status. Quite similar to American Albany slip brown glaze. The exterior of crock is covered lavishly in pearl brown lustre wash glaze giving it a soft lustre reflective pearl shine with life that dances off the surface at all angles. It features twin lug handles at upper side to aid gripping crock during cooking ... morewith a decorative stamped incised single beaded ring running around the upper middle kissing lower handle extensions. It has a most gentle chamfered base bevel, then the bottom is simply unglazed stoneware clay patina. A thick well formed rim likely once had a lid no longer present, but no matter, clean sage gray green glazed interior is happy to hold your wooden spoons and kitchen utensils in period style. Overall it has a tall, slight flared upright shape like a fine pail with great dignity and usefulness to industrious housekeeper.remember Mrs. Bridges from Upstairs, Downstairs? Hudson would approve and no doubt Downton Abbey has a few on display as well. It stands 6.25" tall and 5.75" across open top. I would guestimate, holds about a quart liquid capacity overall. It is in sound fine condition with no damage, no chips, no hairlines. nothing beyond the the usual firing scratch in the making or tiny rough clay blob on rim glazed over. I know this is English having travelled to the UK buying fields myself seeing these on offer occasionally, and this lovely example was deacessioned last week from a retired English Dealer in Gettysburg, PA who purchased it

This is a vintage white stoneware crockery Jug with Cork stopper made in Japan. Japan is engraved at the backside near the base. This little jug stands approx 2 inches high. The base diameter is approx 1 inch. It has its original cork. But the cork has a tendency to fall within the jug when touched. It had fallen inside when I tood the photos. Condition: No chips or cracks. Marking is strong. A portion of the cork is missing. So the seal is not tight. F or your consideration is a Red Wing crock. Pre 1915, which is this one is clearly before the handle patent. These big wing crocks are getting tougher to acquire. This one is crack and damage repair free, but does show some bottom edge chippers in pics# 10& 12. Number 11 shows a factory clay dimple. Always allow for stoneware glaze skips. And glaze runs which are possible. This one does have a noticeable skip by the"5" Piece rings very well. The block letters are unique also as this changed shortly after this period also. A true antique crock. I'm selling the old pottery piece for my friend. She's 92& asked me to list it. The crock came from her home place. In Bybee, Tn. where she was born& raised. She moved from the family farm in 1960. She remembers the crock as a small child. She was born in 1920 so this crock is definitely an antique. Great condition. No chips. A couple very light. Glaze hairline cracks that you need extra light to see& doesn't take away or cause any issues. The stoneware crock is 6" tall& 5.75" across the top. Two tone or two shades of brown. Stoneware 3 Gallon Cream Pot B.C. Milburn Alexandria Virginia Pottery 1840s
This is a BC Milburn Cream Pot# 3 dating between 1847-1867 from Alexandria. VA. It is a beautiful piece with cobalt floral decoration, slip and applied tab handles. The trailed flowering plant design bears 2 blossoms. Multiple leaves and a central blooming bud. Reverse decorated with 2 blossoms and multiple leaves, shorter stem. Both slip-trailed flowers extend from handle to handle. This piece is 8" in diameter. Slightly larger in center and 14-1/2" tall. There are some cracks in the bottom(3rd from last picture) And a couple of chips on the bottom(last 2 picture) and a chip on the handle. Beautiful piece though and they are hard to come by! Stoneware Pottery Crock Miniature Cobalt Blue Four Leaf Clover Rumborf
This miniature speckled stoneware crock has a deep colbalt blue four leaf clover and blue circles on either side of it and the name Rumborf on the other side(if I am reading it correctly? I do not know much about it except that I bought it in an antique shop and I can not find anything on the name on the internet. I did find that there was a potter in Maryland that often painted clovers and the clay was speckled. A wonderful miniature stoneware piece. Could be used for melted butter or as a cordial or could be planter in doll house.
