I’m very pleased to offer this astounding. High-quality 1920s 5-arm chandelier by Halcolite of New York! Halcolite was located at 100 Grand Street in New York City. The chandelier is amazingly luscious. And abounds with rich details. Wow. Wow! The whole is cast brass. And the weight is impressive. I must stress the quality. The brass retains its original polychrome. This is a burnished gold. And with accents of red, blue, and green. Gorgeous. The whole has an appealing but hard-to-describe quality– the five arms of the chandelier seem to be leaping into the air. Like ballet dancers on point. Another wonderful detail is the many dangling finials. I’ve seen the fixture on occasion but the dangles are usually missing. The fixture is not actually restored yet. Save for touching up the blue on the ceiling canopy. The finish is a very good vintage condition. I will fully rewire, and the exposed vertical wire will be cloth-covered like the original. The paper insulators will also be replaced. All this will take a week after payment is received. Style-wise. The fixture is well suited for a Spanish-Revival-style home, a bungalow, Arts& Crafts, or really any home built between 1920s and WWII. This fixture will be shipped wholly restored and with new wiring. Ready to hang, and with all the mounting hardware needed! DETAILS: Sadly. The period-correct, hand-painted bulbs are not included. Impressive chandeliers I’ve ever offered, and abounds with amazing details: 1) The finial! Wow! Instead of the standard glass sphere. This chandelier has an intricate glass spear! Wow! 2) The five glass S-shaped arms have notches cut into the glass. 3) There are five additional arms which leap into the air. These hold a glass(not plastic! ring. The ring in turn holds double strands which swag out to the other arms. Elegant. Stunning! 4) The candle covers are not plastic. Nor cardboard. They are glass! Yes. Glass! I’ve never seen this before! 5) The glass bobeches(the disks under the candle covers) are unique. These are normally bowl-shaped but the bobeches here are more plate-like. And each has lovely details cut into the glass. 6) The candles sit in glass cups. And these, too, have lovely details cut into the glass. 7) Above the intricate glass stem is a large bobeche. Porcelier made some of the finest lighting fixtures and house wares(they closed in the 1950s) There’s a book on their work: Collector’s Guide to Porcelier China By Susan E. Grindberg This fixture is the most remarkable Porcelier I have ever offered. Here is why: Before the company closed in 1954. They updated their lines and created fixtures unlike anything previous. Like this fixture. Never, never had Porcelier offered an austere frosted white shade. Indeed. All their previous shades were dazzlingly elaborate. And their porcelain components normally featured stunning floral decals. But the porcelain components on this fixture feature elegant gold accents, and porcelain“leaves” on top with eight glass drops. Wow. While the shade is simplicity in itself. Note the oversize gold disk. It is porcelain. Yes, porcelain! And the gold is, I believe, real gold. Then there is the finial. This is a holdover as most Porcelier pendants and chandeliers offered the same wonderful. Hand-blown glass finial. I particularly love the white-on-white quality. I’m very pleased to offer this rare and remarkable pewter and crystal chandelier! I’m uncertain as to the exact age of the chandelier. It might be very late 1930s. I believe it’s 1940s. I’m certain it’s not earlier or later. I’m certain. Too, as to its beauty. And rarity. I’ve never offered a chandelier like it. All the metal components appear to have a pewter finish. Nice. Each arm has distinctive crystals. The hurricane shades are particularly lovely; that they remain in situ is frankly amazing. I also like the expressive glass stem. The chandelier is clearly modeled after an Argand lamp. From Wikipedia: The Argand lamp was new to Thomas Jefferson in Paris in 1784. Which according to him gave off"a light equal to six or eight candles. These new lamps. While more complex and costly than the previous primitive oil lamps, were first adopted by the well-to-do but soon spread to the middle classes and eventually the less well-off as well. Argand lamps were manufactured in a great variety of decorative forms and quickly became popular in America. This fixture is. Obviously, a delightfully faux Argand lamp chandelier. The chain is original. As is the ceiling canopy. The exposed wire is cloth-covered like the original. I would say the the chandelier. At 17-1/2-inches wide. Is medium in scale. To me. Finding such a fixture is a special treat. And bringing life back to it is even better. It’s hard to express, but seeing the chandelier literally full of light once again makes
