Absolutely stunning chandelier. Incredibly heavy 40 lbs or more. Just over 30 inches across making a 60 inch circumference. It is hanging down about 40 inches the way I have hooked it for the photos. Each post is 15 inches long from the leaf tip to the end of the brass and copper ball. This looks as though it has been re painted. It has been painted over on the electric wires. The iron has some slight pitting underneath in small areas but it is a normal issue considering its age. There are 4 chains plus a cap with more chain to hang lower if needed. Antique Wrought Iron Chandelier, 5 Bulb - Late 1800's Early 1900's
This is a great 5 bulb wrought iron chandelier. An estate item from a 50+ year old grandson who explained he had his grandmother's things. The fixture itself is 16" high and 18" in diameter +/ with another 16" of chain/post(9" chain& 7" post) then a 6" diameter ceiling plate. The acanthus leaves are steel, not iron, flexible, and are very sound. The wiring was original and unusable. I took the time to remove it and brushed the whole lamp down, leaving the patina or getting you that much closer to refinishing/rewiring. I hope it stays"rusty" The paper candles are dirty and a few wax drips are off. As well as the tops a little rough. I didn't try to clean them. The retainer tabs for the wiring are intact but one. I put a picture of a part of the wiring for dating, if you know about that. I ... morelooked up wiring and that fabric insulation ended by 1930 or so and started about 1875 I believe. I did not find any brand or maker's marks. All the finials/threaded parts turn and thread freely, not seized. The leaves at the bottom do have tiny holes at the tips to add crystals. No crystals are with it, but there was a tiny wire on one leaf that made sense when I looked at other examples. If you have any questions or would like additional pics, please ask. I reply fast. Antique French extra large Gothic wrought iron lanterns sconces 22 1/2" Tall Up for offer today an exceptional pair of sconces. These sconces date back to the 1940’s or about. These hung outside of a residence in Brussels Belgium. On the front door left and right of the door. But covered under a roof of the entrance. So these were protected from the rain etc… On another note. These sconces are not made to hang them straight in open air. These are not waterproof etc… These come with 5 pieces of glass each. We replaced these with new ones as the old ones were cracked and missing. The glass is new. 4 on each side of the sconce and one underneath. Originally these were painted or finished is a black paint. Rust was coming trough here and there. So somebody in the past finished these in this reddish color finish. You can either leave these ... morelike that. Which I personally prefer as it shows the age and character of the sconces much more. You can either strip the paint of or paint over this color to make it a more distract appearance. Just to give you a couple of ideas. These sconces were probably custom made at the time for this house. The estate these came from were higher class of houses for that time of period. Now the size. This lamp has been stored for a long long time and could use a good dusting! Measures 14 inches tall. Finial on the canopy is present and has a loop with a chain for display/ hanging. Lots of ornate scrolling/ twisted and curly metal. Magnet does stick. the metal has been painted to look like copper. There are 6 glass panels. Glass is has an orange tint. Antique Hammered Wrought Iron Hanging Pendant Lamp Arts & Crafts Medieval Gothic
This a fabulous antique Stickley Era hammered brass and wrought iron hanging pendant lamp. It measures 17" tall and the design is that of the Arts& Crafts/ Spanish Revival Era featuring florets. Leaves, and a beautiful large amber glass prism. It is very detailed and has a hammered surface that appears copper in color although I believe the metal is actually brass or wrought iron. The upper part of the lamp is brass as is shown by the interior section. The original cloth wiring is still intact and lamp is in good working condition but the new owner may want to have wiring replaced just to be safe. All are in very good condition but the amber prism does have flea bite nicks around the edges. There is a narrow ring of white paint around the top edge where the edge meets the ceiling(someone was not careful when painting! but it just ... moreon the edge and isn't a lot of paint and should be easy to remove(see pics) My pictures do not do this piece justice- must be seen in person to appreciate- very unique and authentic antique.
