These are a beautiful pair of original Art Deco slip shade sconces. Very nice detailed design in shades and sconce holders. The finish on the the back plates looks to be original and is great shape but could use some cleaning. The detailed shades are beautiful with the original orange highlights and are in great shape. There is a teeny sliver chip on the side of one shade near the fitter(barely noticable only mentioned for accuracy) and a thin line on the fitter tab of the other one that is not seen when shade is in fitter. See pictures. The electrical and switches do work but they have cloth wiring and should be checked by a professional or rewired. See picture of one of the sconces lighted. It is in great antique condition with no chips. Breaks or repairs. It has a bronze finish push on and off button switch below the arm. It is very decorated with embossed roses and flowers with a big ribbon at the top and a smaller at the bottom. It has been rewired and has a ground wire. The plastic candle cover has been replaced and is cracked. It has 6 holes for prisms and probable originally had teardrops. It is quite heavy for its size and has double mounting holes on each side of the center medallion. It measures 17 1/2 inches long by 4 1/2 inches wide. The arm extends approx. 7 inches out. Antique and original pair of Art Nouveau brass piano candle sconces. Or wall sconces. These sconces swivel on the piece that mounts to the wall. The y both have hard to read marks on the back- looks like DEP.MUSTER. Each scon ce stands out from the wall about 9 3/4 inches(24.8 cm) The flat piece that mounts to the wall measures about 4 3/4 inches(12.1 cm) top to bottom and 2 3/4 inches(7 cm) across at the widest point. Some points on condition: the pins on which these sconces swivel are different and likely not original. There is some pitting and greenish oxidation(see pictures) also some very small age/stress cracks that do not affect either the look or structural integrity of these sconces. A PAIR of Antique THEATER SCONCES Light Fixtures! Here we have very cool and very scarce find. A pair of antique light fixtures. Sconces, that I am told came out of an old theater that was being torn down. These were purchase in New York around 20 years ago. They were probably hanging on either the wall above the aisles or over the doorways into the theater. They look to be from the early part of the century to me. These lights are huge. Measuring approximately 26" long by 6" wide. Beautiful Art Nouveau. Deco flower and scroll design that would work either horizontally or vertically. They are metal with wood backing and are quite heavy. Looks like they were originally painted gold and one of them is worn more to the metal than the other. One has original inside fixture. The other needs replacing, this should be an easy find and ... morethe backs come off very easily. The last photo. although not a very good photo-sorry) show the one with the fixture lit, to give you an idea of the pretty glow they make when working. Of course even though this one worked, I would rewire it anyway. These would be amazing brought back to the original look. 1920S ANTIQUE EDWARDIAN ART NOUVEAU ACANTHUS LEAF YELLOW- CHIPPY SHABBY PAINT M ETAL ELECTRICAL WALL SCONCE WITH CLOTH-COVEED WIRE(SEE PIC OF BACK OF METAL SCONCE PROVIDED) The m etal wall sconce has its original yellow s habby chippy yellow paint with blueish-green painted leaves-the paint is chippy and piece shows paint loss as it is original. The wall sconce has lovely raised relief acanthus leaf on bottom under a petal scrolled holder and has original-painted leaves in greenish-blue in raised relief as well alo n g sides(see pic close-ups in c luded) The piece has its original chain pull cord which works well and produces the typical'click' sound when pulled. I have not hooked this sconce up to electricity and so it is'untested' and is being sold'as is' because it is untested-may need to be rewired(see pics of ... morewiring) I have inclu ded close-up pics of the socket and the porcelain interior parts and mechanisms to show the electrical compone n ts and hardware which appear to be all-original. SUPERB PAIR ANTIQUE ART NOUVEAU WALL. PIANO SCONCES, BRASS, GERMAN MARKS, CIRCA EARLY 1900'S, EXCELLENT CONDITION, BUY IT NOW I recently acquired this wonderful pair of brass wall or piano sconces. The woman who sold them told me they were art deco but I believe the style is more art nouveau with the swirling curves. They are a very superb pair of sconces made of brass and are very solid and weigh over a pound. The mounting plates have a hammered texture and the rest of the sconces have a smooth surface. I have not polished them and have left the original patina. I only cleaned out the old candle was residue although there is still some left. The back of the mounting plates are marked Ges Gesch 21. I believe the sconces are either from Germany or Austria. They measure 8 1/4" long and are about 5" high when measured from the ... moretip of the scrolled base to the edge of the candle holder. They are a cast material.and a magnet will not stick to them. The switches turn fine. Up for sale is an Antique Solid Brass Gas Wall Sconce features a rose design. Looks like a bouquet of roses. There are 2 tubes that lead to the large open roses, which thread onto the tubes. The front features a hole where a knob would be mounted to control the flames. There are a total of 2 gas burners, it could be used as candlestick holders or even be converted to make a really nice wall accent lamp. It is approximately 21"T x about 12 1/2"W, and total it stands approximately 4" from the wall, so I would say 4" deep. This is a really intricate and realistic casting, note the detail work on the closed buds and on the leaves. This is a very quality piece, and very solid and heavy, it weighs almost 6 lbs. Up for auction is a gorgeous pair of matching 1930's bedroom. Hallway, bathroom or parlor wall light sconces in excellent repainted condition. These are incredible Art Nouveau style sconces and have beautiful antique milkglass globes with a lot of detail. Each is 10 1/2" tall x 5 1/2" wide x 8" off the wall. Beautiful detailed castings to the metal sconces and matching details in the milglass globes. Very fancy! There are a lot of uses for these. I think they are bedroom lights but I could see these used on either side of a bathroom mirror or as very ornate hallway lamps. The milkglass gives off a very delicate glow. Original wiring is good. You will need mounting hardware which can be found at any good lighting store. I don't know what to call it as I have never seen this type of glass before. The best description would be to say it is a ROUGH CRACKLE TYPE GLASS. It is made in one piece and is cylinder shape. The glass is not smooth. There is a texture to it and it is rough and jagged like, with long striations within the glass unlike typical crackle glass. The inside of the glass cylinder is smooth to the touch with a waviness to it. Finish may have been repainted, can't be sure. Please look at photos to determine this for yourself. Upon further inspection, I did notice a slight bite on the rim(the bottom part that sits in the metal) of the glass cylinder. THE LAST TWO PICTURES SHOW THIS. You cannot see ... moreit as it sits in the metal. The metal sconce is not bent, there is some paint loss which is clearly shown in the many photos. Antique Gas Wall Sconce Solid Brass Electric Crescent B.M. Co. Art Nouveau
Up for sale is a gorgeous antique gas brass wall sconce. It has been converted to electric. But it is a vintage/antique original conversion, with the original cotton wires from the early 1900's. Stamped with the maker"Crescent B.M. Co Pat'd" on the back(there is also a patent number but it is unreadable to me) I would caution any buyer who purchases to please rewire for safety reasons. Those wires are not considered safe anymore, needs new wires if going to be used. Also needs a switch. Is in good condition, with only one notable issue. It appears that at one point there was a decorative accent on the top, it has been snapped off, it looks like it never had been there in the first place, so the break happened in a natural looking place. Electric sockets have cardboard candle sticks covering the hardware, they slide off, ... morefor easy removal and access to the wires. The wiring is easy to access, so easy to replace. Pair of Antique Batwing Slip Shade Sconces - Art Deco Nouveau - Wall Light
Available here is a pair of slip shade sconces. These sconces feature the highly desirable batwing slip shades. I can find no damage to the shades. The metal sconces have a machine age look. They retain the original polychrome finish; including gold. Silver, blue, yellow and red colors. I can find no damage or issues with the sconces. They do have new sockets and new rotary switches. The wiring is up-to-date and the on/off rotary switch does work. While the rotary switch internals are new. I was able to retain the original knobs. The original knobs have the polychrome finish and wear from years of use. Any wiring seen in the photos would be hidden when installed properly. Available here is a set of four slip shade sconces. The amber colored shades feature a floral design and leaf pattern on the three visible sides. The depth of the moulded glass displays very nicely when the sconces are lit. The glass shades sit within the metal fixture around the socket. I can find no damage to the shades. The metal sconces also feature a floral design that compliments the shades very well. I am not sure of the base metal. But these sconces have a bronze finish. There is some foreign paint around the metal fixtures, I have not tried to remove it. They do have new sockets with up-to-date wiring. These unusual Ivory Colored lamps are in good vintage condition. No Cracks or Repairs and just minor scuffs and/or normal slight discoloration on some seams. They measure 8" tall(from bottom to top of socket) and the circular base measures 5-1/2" in diameter. They extend approx. 6" from wall. They are adjustable and have a sliding rotating arm that tightens with the wing nut. If positioned a certain way. They can be used as table lamps. Unfortunately. Beautiful antique wall sconce for restoration. Made of either copper or bronze, I cannot tell for sure. Switch was made by Leviton, back of sconce only says design and mechanics have patent and USA, no maker name that I can see. It measures approx. 13" in length, and is 6 3/4" at widest point. Socket says 125 to 250 V. This would take a slip shade, which unfortunately was not with it when found. Opening at top that shade would go down into(widest part) is approx. 5 1/4" It has original patina, but where some of the patina has rubbed off I see a some color to the metal, looks copper. Up for bids is a fantastic Art Nouveau or early Art Deco wall light with a beaded Bohemian or Czech glass fringe. It measures about 16" the light being about 10" and the fringe measuring about 6" The usual minor roughness around the rim of the shade and one very small flake(pin head size) on the rim. A few strands of the glass beads are missing but most of it is still intact. The light is pull chain operated but could easily be hard wired. The end of the pull chain even has a cute acorn finial. Antique Kosmo Brenner oil lamp, double Wall Sconce, Art Nouveau
Exceptional Kosmo Brenner oil Lamp. In a configuration you don't normally see, a Double Wall Sconce. It's small stature makes me think this was intended for mounting on a ships wall, in a stateroom, or above a desk. This lamp co. was famous for it's nautical oil lamps, so this isn't such a stretch. But these are really old. Hand blown and decorated glass, copper and brass fixture that mounts to a wall, both arms move in or out. Lovely nouveau styling on brackets. And of course they feature the roll up wick device that turns a flat wick into a circle, which Kosmo Brenner is famous for. Oil lamps are removable from fixture, please see photos. These have been used, so there is some discoloration from burning oil, I have not tried to clean them.
