Vintage Antique Porcelain Wall Sconce Fixture White Floral Applique Green Orange
For your consideration is this great old wall sconce fixture. It is in good condition. Though it needs to be re-wired. It is a pull switch fixture. The wall plate measures 4 1/4" wide by 7 1/4" tall. The fixture is white with green lines painted on the base, two lines, one parallel to the wall, then one inside that that mirrors the shape of the top of the base. There is also a green line painted around the rim of the lamp socket. There are transfer appliques on the fixture with pink roses, green bow and green leaves. The appliques do have some wear, the top one on the wall plate, being nearly worn off. The rest, however, are in decent condition. There are also a couple of cracks near the hole in the back. They appear to be cracks in the glaze and do not appear on the front of the fixture in any way. It has a very soft white/frosted coloer with beautiful-highly detailed clear glass. All components are in really good vintage condition and are from the mid century era. The shade and stem compliment each other beautifully. The shade measures about 15 1/4 inches in diameter and is in wonderful condition with no chips or cracks. There is minimal wear which only compliments the overall vintage look of this stunning chandelier. This style of shade is very hard to find in this large size. The chain is new and is aluminum-which compliments the other metal pieces quite nicely. The ceiling canopy was sanded and repainted as is also from the same era. There are four new porcelain sockets pictured with 60 watt bulbs as well as all new wiring. This amazing light fixture can be adjusted to hang between 16 and 24 inches from the ceiling. Is painted white with cool rust as shown. The chain and canopy appear to be original and measure 20" long, the chandelier is 14" tall and is 23" wide. All of the beautiful metalwork is in good condition, the rust appears to be surface rust, no rusting through or broken pieces. The chandelier is made of steel, the candle holders are wood and have some pink and reddish splotches on them, look closely at first photo, at some point they have probably had red candles used in them. This beautiful chandelier has a thick glass shade measuring 12 inches wide. The shade is an off-white color, with a wide, clear border. The bottom center is clear with a fluer-de-lis pattern. The clear glass center column has five crystal prisms. The clear parts of the shade have a slight yellowish tint, which sometimes old glass does. All of the glass is in fantastic condition with no chips or cracks. The loops. Chain and finial are new, and have an antique patina finish. The steel ceiling canopy is new, and is finished in an off-white color. This is a two-light fixture with new porcelain sockets and all new wiring. Accepts two standard base light bulbs. Light is all original with exception of bulb socket which appears replaced at some time in it's history. was functioning perfectly when removed several months ago. Has since been stored boxed. In dry location. Light is free of damage including any cracks. Chips, nicks, scratches, etc. There is the occasional, incidental mark on the frosted glass. These can only be seen close up and do not appear noticeable on the light at ceiling level. Chrome finish is intact and undamaged, but could use a polish if desired. The Lightolier tag was directly under the bulb. When the light was removed most of the tag crumbled from the years of heat. However the last pic still shows the classic"L" of Lightolier. This auction is for 36 white porcelain roses which came from two very old chandeliers. Probably from the 1930s or older. They are all white with gold trim. Three of the roses are missing one pedal, and one has a chip. Some have lost their gold trim They range in size from 1-1/2" to 2" and the little octagon crystals attached to each one measure 3/8" These are great for lamps and chandeliers. The arms in the cups it is marked Lion. In the 1920s there were a great number of lighting manufacturers. At the very high end. However, there were but a handful. One such company was Lightolier. Which produced gorgeous products, gorgeously made. There were only two other companies producing lighting at even higher levels: E. F. Caldwell, and Lion Electric. Caldwell was at the very very peak. Creating extraordinary lighting(and extraordinarily expensive) which graced, and still graces, the White House. While no manufacturer was in a league with Caldwell, Lion Electric was a notch above Lightolier— high praise, indeed.
