$60.00 Shipping Condition: Used Location: Mooresville, United States This is an old favorite of mine.Small enough to be very versatile.My mother was a librarian and I have her large 60 and 72 drawer units from her library ... morebut this guy is a real treasure.The larger units are from the 60s, this guy with it's dovetailed joints goes back to the 1890s. Each drawer has the 1892 and 1894 patent date on them.The Library Bureau Sole Makers Company was in business from the early 1880s to about 1925.I guess the library in the 1890s had to be the only gateway to the world and the hands that were in these drawers.Very nice old patina and there are a few issues but not major and easily addressed and fixable with low expense.There is a piece along the right rear back panel which is not really visible from the front.A couple drawers have some cracks and one has a piece of the rear panel gone but every issue is repairable and I have not altered or repaired anything so you are dealing with the original item.No screws or glue added but it could use some skill to keep it original.There was tape used on the exterior over the years and those are the shadows you see in the photographs.The shadow of the ring on the top was put there by the original librarian so I had a place to put my coffee cup.It is a really cool piece and soundly built.Another 100 years is no problem with this guy. Vintage Cool 1894 Oak Library Bureau Sole Makers 9 Drawer Card Catalog Cabinet
This is an old favorite of mine.Small enough to be very versatile.My mother was a librarian and I have her large 60 and 72 drawer units from her library but this guy is a real treasure.The larger units are from the 60s, this guy with it's dovetailed joints goes back to the 1890s. Each drawer has the 1892 and 1894 patent date on them.The Library Bureau Sole Makers Company was in business from the early 1880s to about 1925.I guess the library in the 1890s had to be the only gateway to the world and the hands that were in these drawers.Very nice old patina and there are a few issues but not major and easily addressed and fixable with low expense.There is a piece along the right rear back panel which is not really visible from the front.A couple drawers have some cracks and one has a piece of the rear panel gone but every issue is repairable ... moreand I have not altered or repaired anything so you are dealing with the original item.No screws or glue added but it could use some skill to keep it original.There was tape used on the exterior over the years and those are the shadows you see in the photographs.The shadow of the ring on the top was put there by the original librarian so I had a place to put my coffee cup.It is a really cool piece and soundly built.Another 100 years is no problem with this guy. This listing is for a nice vintage cabinet by the Yawman and Erbe It is a one-drawer example. With the original brass drawer pull, and brass tag that reads"Y and E" It has the original adjustable sliding card holder in the drawer. Everything operates smoothly, the back however is missing(see picture) and there is some paint splatter on the front. These files were in common use in the early part of the 20th century in libraries, schools, and offices and were built to last. This example has wonderful quartersawn oak wood grain patterns and quality dovetailed construction with a few small cracks on the sides from over the years, but does not affect the overall condition. I have never come across one like this in 30 yrs. of buying and selling antiques, it has 3 seperate compartments in each drawer also the drawers faces are hinged to swing out of the way to remove the rods, however the rods are missing and the key also is missing. These are easy to make keys for and the rods are standard round stock. Most people that would use this would not need the cards locked in like this, so it can be used as is. Hi. Up for your consideration is a Vintage Globe Wer. Co. library catalog file cabinet/box. I believe it is made out of Tiger Oak. All the joints are dovetailed. This was an estate find. I have done nothing to it-no polish or Old English. It is a beautiful piece of History and would make a wonderful addition to someone's personal library! All the drawers are made to fix 3"x5" index cards and they all are still in fine working condition. VINTAGE GLOBE WERNICKE LIBRARY CARD CATALOG CABINET FINISH 237 W-OAK
Up for auction is this really nice vintage library card cabinet by Globe Wernicke from Cincinnati.It is a 2 drawer unit. I don't know when it was produced. It still has a paper label on the inside of the cabinet that has the makers name and the stain number. The drawers have dovetails. The cabinet does not. There is a small strip of the veneer missing on the back panel of the cabinet at the bottom approx. 1/2' wide see photo no. 5. It also still has the catalog brass medallion on the side see photo no. 6. It has been refinished at 1 time or another. But seems to still be it's original color. ANTIQUE vintage Weis index. FINGER JOINT WOOD LIBRARY POST FILE CARD CATALOG BOX
Item is in fair condition with minor surface scratches. Finger joint construction. Back finger joint had lid bracket pulled out and is reflected in picture. Lid has a split next to finger joint damage. Look at picture. Their is damage to it. I had this in my vintage office for display and worked very well as the damage is hidden. Someone put a nail for a hinge pin as noted in picture. Still retains the nice Weis logo. 13 inches long by 5 3/4 inches wide by 4 3/8 inches in height. Up for auction is an excellent vintage wooden two drawer card catalog. This piece measures 16 1/2 x 15 7/8 x 6 5/8" and features two drawers with dovetail detail. This is a vintage piece. So it does show sign of past use, including scratches, scrapes, and dings on the surfaces. At some point, it looks as though the original drawer pulls were replaced with metal knobs, which you can see in the photographs. The drawers still have the metal card catalog framework inside, and I can move the framework back and forth from the bottom. I have not cleaned or polished this piece, but I would imagine that it would look even better with a little care. Please view the photos carefully, as they best describe the condition of the item being sold.

The finish does have some minor flaws. There is what look like a little paint on the top in 1 spot. The overall appearance is nice. It would look very nice with a light coat of clear wax to clean it and bring out the beautiful grain. The pulls are non-magnetic and appear to be brass. The construction is very nice with dove tail joints and is still in good shape as far as the stability. Each drawer has a card hold the works to keep them from falling back if the drawer isn't full. Vintage Industrial Wood Card Catalog Four Drawer Library Index Card Organizer
Measures 13x13 1/2 x 9 inches. It could use some attention like a refinish. I will leave that up to the new owner. It does not have a maker but does have four capital letters on the left upper corner(FBVE) which I believe it stands for Federal Board Of Vocational Education. And to the right the numbers 2- 1006. It is made of wood and appears to have some light water damage on the bottom. All four drawers open and close without a problem. It also appears to have all its original hardware. 1940s Vintage "Weis" Wood Library Index Card Catalog Industrial Cabinet File
This antique"Weis" index card catalog file cabinet measures 19-1/4 inches wide. 15" deep, and 14-1/2" tall. Modular construction, it has a top half and a bottom half, with two drawers per section. The drawer fronts are made of wood, not oak, fine grain hardwood such as ash or maybe poplar, and is painted olive drab green. The sides and back are made of a thin sheet material, perhaps plywood or masonite. Please note the original Weis decal located on the top of the cabinet. The drawer pulls are made of metal, probably steel, but I didn't check. This type of cabinet is great for index card storage, of course, but I have others like it that make great'small parts storage' for my workshop. This item is really hard to let go. It is a beautiful 18 drawer library card catalog. It was the second catalog I've ever bought and really is what got me into collecting these beautiful pieces of history. This item is perfect for an introductory piece. It is not nearly as large as some of the other pieces out there so it doesn't cause space issues. WC Heller has been around since 1891. They are an Ohio based furniture company that is still producing library furniture today. They are very well known amongst collectors due to their incredible craftsmanship. I am not certain the age of this piece and I have honestly never seen another one and. Believe me, I have looked. Each of the 18 drawers are stamped with the makers mark. Relisted with a Lower"Buy It Now" and Reserve. Here we have a stunning 6 Drawer Library File Card Catalog Cabinet in Beautiful golden Oak. This came from a Private Library in a California estate. It is in very nice to excellent condition. This is about as nice as they get. a beautiful piece worthy of use and/or display just about anywhere. I don’t know the manufacturer(Globe. Remington Rand, Gaylord Brothers. Sole Makers? but the craftsmanship of this piece is superb. For example: the drawers are all wood(no plastic here) with solid oak fronts the Dovetailing on the front of the drawersis intricate and precise with 4 dovetails instead of the typical 2 or 3. There is also dovetailing along each side of the top. see pics) All the drawers and slots are numbered and were individually fitted. The brass pulls are nice originals and are ... morethe style that have 4 mounting screws also indicative of the higher end pieces instead of the typical 2. They are showing a bit of wear as is typical for a piece this age. The metal card sliders(see pic) are all present. The tongue and groove construction on the backs of the drawers also indicates excellent craftsmanship with 6 detailed notches. Up for sale is a vintage library card catalog. It is a four drawer. Dovetailed oak, two piece stacking unit. The drawers are wood, and in excellent condition with their original brass pulls. All the drawers slide fairly easily, except for drawer L-Q which has some wear on the wood but it still works fine. The metal rods and card stop/supports are all there and work well. Supports are stamped Pat. June 25, 1912. The bottom stacking piece has some age cracks along the sides in addition to some scuffs and scratches. Paint spatters, and a few dings to the wood. The pictures show the worst age cracks where the wood is split in two places, but it is still solid and together. Dimensions of the two stacks combined is 13 3/8" wide. 10 1/4" tall, and 15" deep. Vintage Card Catalog This is vintage 6-drawer card catalog. It is composed of oak wood with a medium-tone finish. The bottom of the catalog is made of pressed board. The catalog was made to hold standard 3" by 5" index cards with holes in them. A rod inserts through the hole in the cards to hold them in place. There is a laminate piece that was placed on the top. There are 2 drilled holes in the top. Faded paint? markings throughout. One drawer pull is split, there is one pull missing. Wheels were attached on the bottom with ply wood, can be removed. This stands 26.6" tall minus the wheels and ply wood. 33" in width. Very heavy. This is an original classic. A 9 drawer library card catalog unit. Used for a distinct set of special collection cartds. I have no known date, though one of the drawer inserts lists patents from 1892 through 1903. But I can't tell you when it was made or when it was purchased. This is an almost perfect size example of the gone and disappearing library card catalog. It can be used as a decorative piece, or for many types of storage. All it takes is imagination. This is a nice antique oak 2 drawer card catalog file made about 1915-1920 by the Library Bureau Sole Makers company. It has the original brass tag and drawer pulls. And still has both adjustable card supports in the drawers. This has very nice quartersawn oak wood grain patterns and features quality dovetailed construction. The finish is clean and this file is ready to use and enjoy. It holds 4" by 6" index cards or photos. The outside dimensions are 6" tall by 14" deep by 15.5" wide. This is a vintage card catalog file with 12 drawers. I was probably made around the 1950's. When the blonde maple finish was popular. The manufacturer's tag on the back is from the Gaylord Brothers Company. It's in very nice condition, with a nice patina and a few normal scuffs and minor dings from the years. It does have 2 very small veneer chips on the back at the bottom edge. These wouldn't be seen if the file was on a desk or table against the wall. Please look at the photos for the best idea of the condition. All the drawers open and close smoothly and have their adjustable card supports. The drawer fronts are maple and the interiors are plastic. It will hold standard 3" by 5" index cards. The drawers can hold objects up to 15" long. The outside dimensions are 20" wide by 17.5" deep by 17" ... moretall. If you are looking for extra storage space for small items, artist or craft materials, or office supplies, this would be great. This has a few scuffs and scrapes that look a lot worse under the camera flash than in real life. I am not sure of the age or the maker. I do know that this is very heavy solid construction with dovetail drawer construction. This was made for heavy use by the public. It is missing 4 of the 9 rods and metal sliders. I took a picture of the inside of every drawer. I could not find a makers mark or name but maybe its hidden somewhere. Do you know where it is? The outside is veneer because you can see it chipped off in a few small places. If you have any questions I would be happy to answer them.
