Today i have for sale a nice antique industrial era 4 drawer filing cabinet. this one is tiger oak and dovetailed. this one has the original brass pulls as you can see from the picture one drawer has some damage at the bottom.still functions properly. this piece has had some solid pieces tacked inside the top two drawers but they retain the original bottom like the lower drawers.this piece would be great in the kitchen or anywhere in the house.this one measures 15 x15 x10 1/2 inches. please look at my other industrial era auctions ill be listing a 6 drawer cabinet later in the week.

Up for auction is a very nice tiger oak Library Bureau by Sole Makers. It is a 4 drawer cabinet that has the original slide adjusters in each drawer. It is dovetailed made as pictured. The cabinet measures 19 ¾” x 16” and 13 ¾” tall. It is in great shape as pictured. It is solid oak except for the back which is a veneer. There are some chips ... morein the back veneer as pictured… nothing big. On one side. The wood has split, but this a minor cosmetic issue as the joints remain solid. There is an ERIE sticker on top, and we think it is the Erie Railroad. i have to say the tiger oak on this piese is increadable one of the best i have seen it is is a very nice vintage early 1900s file cabnet with a a nice hand rubed durable soft glow hand rubed finish nice patina on the old brass pulls it is free of damage other than the normal imperfections and mabe a ding here and there. and blemishes It is all solid oak with very well made dove tails. Vintage 1901 Macey Tiger Oak 4 Drawer Dovetail Library File Cabinet Bureau
Here is a vintage Macey. Of Grand Rapids Michigan, four draw index card file cabinet in beautiful tiger oak wood. It is made of solid oak and is in excellent condition. The original Macey litho is in very nice condition. It has all of the original hardware and everything works as it should. Please take a look at all the pictures. There looks to be some finish wear on the top and the top right draw has a slight crack in it. Both are very easy fixes if you feel like doing so. All of the brass hardware shows surface wear from years of use. It's a great piece with tons of character. It measures approximately 14" deep x 14" wide x 9" tall. Nice, original, aged patina. Made by Amberg File& Index Co. a contemporary competitor of Globe Wernicke. Quarter sawn oak construction with dovetailed drawers. Original pull with label holder. Drawer opens and closes smoothly. It measures approx. 16 1/2 inches long, 7 inches wide, and almost 5 1/2 inches tall. Inside drawer measures 5 1/8 inches wide, 3 3/4 inches tall and a little over 12 inches deep. Nice, well built example. Shows ordinary wear, dings, holes, etc. Very good overall condition. A 12 1/2" by 13" by 8" four drawer Sole Makers Library Bureau made of quarter sawn(tiger) oak. The 4 drawers are made to fit 3" by 5" cards. This piece is quality made with hand worked dovetails. Paneled back, quality workmanship throughout, two of the draws have the original inserts that would be adjusted front or back depending on how full the draw was, these inserts are both labeled"Library Bureau" with patent dates listed for New York/ Chicago, Boston/ Washington, and Philadelphia/ London, the dates range from March 15, 1892, to May 26, 1903. The case is tiger oak, dovetailed and the drawers are dovetailed as well, as photographed. This well-made card file is solid, heavy and was built to last. It surprising still has all of the inside wood stops, which are wood- not metal, spring loaded and work as they should. The drawers slide open& close properly. Each drawer measure 6” wide, 4” tall and 14 ½” long. The name plates/bin pulls each measure 1” x 2, are solid brass and appear original. The card catalog has been well used, has no manufacturer name that we could find, but does have a beautiful patina to which we added a light coat of wax to enhance and preserve its character. Here is a really nice antique tiger oak library Index 4 drawer Card Catalog made by Amberg File& Index. Genuine. Circa early 1900's. Nice aged patina. Quarter sawn oak construction with dovetailed drawers. I am not sure all are the original drawer pulls-the bottom 2 are the same, but the other 2 are different. All 4 drawers have label holders. Drawers open and close smoothly. The original block of wood inside the drawer remains in all 4 drawers. It measures approx. 15 1/2 inches x 15.5 inches and 11.75 tall. Nice, well built. Weighs about 26 lbs. Shows ordinary wear, dings, markings etc. Very good overall condition. There is a half torn off label with a zip code from Rittman, Ohio on the side. Very nice collectible!

Original brass makers tag says SIEKERT& BAUM STATIONERY CO. MILWAUKEE WI. They were contemporaries and competitors of Globe Wernicke. I have added cardboard sides to drawers, so they are more useful now. This high quality piece is in wonderful condition. The finish does have some minor flaws. There is what look like a little paint on the top in 1 spot. The overall appearance is nice. It would look very nice with a light coat of clear wax to clean it and bring out the beautiful grain. The pulls are non-magnetic and appear to be brass. The construction is very nice with dove tail joints and is still in good shape as far as the stability. Each drawer has a card hold the works to keep them from falling back if the drawer isn't full. It measures about 13 1/4" wide by 16 3/4" deep(with the brass pulls and 5" high. Each drawer has a usable space of about 5 1/8" wide by 14" deep ... moreand 3 3/8" high. The 12 drawers offer lots of storage possibilities. But for me it's all about the style& décor. Nothing looks so awesome, authentic and enriching as these old office furnishings, with all their details of incredible quartersawn joinery& cast, aged brass. This is a nice piece of fine American Oak. These were the file cabinets of their day. But to make such a thing now would be an immense extravagance. And you can't fake this kind of character and lived-in feel of a fine old piece like this. But of course you can adapt card-file cabinets to hold every sort of smallish thing in very organized grids of drawers. The Tiger-Oak is awesome. This kind of dense. Spectacularly ... morefigured old growth White Oak is virtually extinct, if you found one of these ancient trees that were once ubiquitous in the Eastern Woodlands, it should be preserved as among the very last individuals of their kind. The hardware is all nicely sculptured cast brass and not thin stamped sheet. A very convincing piece, and very well made by one of the premier makers during the age of the gorgeous golden-oak offices& stores that we all pine for. The size of this one is great for an end-table. And it's gorgeously paneled on all sides so its meant to be freestanding and beautiful from every angle. Drawers are nicely dovetailed, finish is in decent shape overall, certainly very livable& lovable. Measures overall about 24-3/8" high. 30" wide& 15-7/8" deep. The 8 drawers have the original maroon painted metal bottoms with the super nice copper colored sliding dividers(see photos) There are no cracks. Splits, or gouges to any of the cabinet or drawers. There are 2 tiny tack nails missing from the metal drawer pulls. No key but the complete original locking mechanism is intact in back of the bottom right drawer. You will be hard pressed to find a nicer Globe Wernicke 8 drawer oak filing cabinet! Original patina- cabinet has not been refinished. Original GLOBE decal. The smaller one is also marked Maceys however they were both together and are of the same design wood etc It does show some signs of wear and tear but is still in fully functional condition. There are some scratches and the veneer located on the back is a little loose. VINTAGE LIBRARY BUREAU 6 DRAWER FILE CARD CABINET~BEAUTIFUL TIGER OAK
This cabinet is probably close to 80 years old and is in still really good condition it has dovetail jointing on the cabinet and on the drawer pulls themselves. It is Tiger oak wood and there are a lot of tiger stripes throughout. I've never seen one with with such an array of tiger stripes. One of the drawers has a solid bottom in it for pencils and tape and staplers and what have you. The plywood on the back has a 1 inch to a 1& 1/2 inch wide piece of veneer missing off of it which could be darkened and backed up against a wall and not even noticed. The cabinet measures 13& 1/2wide by 13& 1/2 tall by 16&1/2 deep. The drawer measures 5& 1/8 wide by 3& 1/4 tall by 14& 1/2 inches deep. The keepers all work properly too.
