Vintage Cool 1894 Oak Library Bureau Sole Makers 9 Drawer Card Catalog Cabinet
This is an old favorite of mine.Small enough to be very versatile.My mother was a librarian and I have her large 60 and 72 drawer units from her library but this guy is a real treasure.The larger units are from the 60s, this guy with it's dovetailed joints goes back to the 1890s. Each drawer has the 1892 and 1894 patent date on them.The Library Bureau Sole Makers Company was in business from the early 1880s to about 1925.I guess the library in the 1890s had to be the only gateway to the world and the hands that were in these drawers.Very nice old patina and there are a few issues but not major and easily addressed and fixable with low expense.There is a piece along the right rear back panel which is not really visible from the front.A couple drawers have some cracks and one has a piece of the rear panel gone but every issue is repairable ... moreand I have not altered or repaired anything so you are dealing with the original item.No screws or glue added but it could use some skill to keep it original.There was tape used on the exterior over the years and those are the shadows you see in the photographs.The shadow of the ring on the top was put there by the original librarian so I had a place to put my coffee cup.It is a really cool piece and soundly built.Another 100 years is no problem with this guy. Antique Vintage Library Bureau Sole Makers 4-Drawer Wood Oak File Cabinet
For auction is one beautiful vintage 4-drawer quarter-sawn oak file cabinet from the early 1900s. It is in fantastic original condition. The finish is original and has only minor nicks and scratches. The brass hardware retains its original patina. And all hardware is accounted for. Each drawer has a dark green metal adjustable divider inside, and the top drawer has the original LBSM patent decal inside the drawer face. All metal glides operate smoothly. The finish is slightly lighter inside the label holders. There is also a slightly darker area on the top towards the front left of the cabinet(see photo) There is only one side panel. But it is reversible, so assuming the file cabinet is placed with one side against a wall, you can use the side panel on whichever side faces the room. These cabinets were made to screw together in rows, so you ... morecan also attach it to an existing LBSM file cabinet of the same size and vintage. There is a date stamp on the inside(JUN 15 1922) which I assume is the date of manufacture. There are 60 drawers. 3 cabinet doors and 3 slide out shelves. It is in beautiful original condition outside of the normal use that would be expected. There are nicks on 3 of the top corners and 2 of the bottom corners as shown in the pictures. All of the rods and pulls are present and original. The black clasps on the bottom doors are replacements. Stands 60 inches tall. Is 40 inches wide and is 16 inches deep. The great thing about this file is that the oak drawers are pretty much solid on the bottoms so if you wanted to remove the rods it would make it a lot more usable for holding other items. This is a Antique Large 8 Drawer Golden Oak Library Bureau Sole Makers File Cabinet. The exterior is very nice. The interior has nicks and scratch from years of use. It is in overall very nice condition. Though the retaining knobs and rods the hold files in place are missing and one of the little brass category frames that are just above the handle. As well as two if the wood backing plates for the files I have included photo of the replacement piece that is being used. This is a matching eight drawer cabinet so it is quite heavy. I am guessing about 175 pounds? It measures 32.5" wide 27" deep and 52" tall. I can strap it to a pallet and have it shipped. I will charge 45.00 to strap it to a pallet, wrap it is cardboard and shrink wrap it. Buyer will be responsible for shipping.

Overall the file measures 19 3/4" wide. 15 3/4" deep and 14" tall; it weighs over 38 pounds! Very complete condition with all the original brass hardware and each drawer has the original sliding support dividers each having the Library Bureau decal. Earliest patent date listed is March 15, 1892 and last patent date is May 26, 1903. Solid oak with a wonderful aged patina to the finish. Antique 9 drawer index card file cabinet. Made of solid quarter sawn oak, brass label frames with pulls, metal label on front reads“LIBRARY BUREAU SOLE MAKERS” holds 3 x 5 inch file cards, measures approximately 19" inches wide x 17" inches deep x 14 1/2 inches high. There are some character nicks, stains, general wear to top front and sides. The top can be removed as pictured but fits nice and snug when replaced. There is one drawer missing but they are easily found here on ebay and I'm selling it as found. Please consider the photographs as part of this items description and thanks for looking.
