Antique Vitrine Curio Cabinet, Hand Painted French, Circa 1910, Excellent
You are viewing a fabulous French Vitrine Curio Cabinet. Around 100 years old and in excellent condition. The cabinet measures about 55 inches tall, 27 inches wide and 13.5 inches deep. This one is from my personal collection. I owned this about 12 years now. I own a few of these and have seen many more over the years. Most of them have paint loss, missing ormolu, are loose or the varnish has darkened the painting. This one has none of those issues. The paintings are vibrant and have no loss. The metal ormolu is all there. The piece is solid and tight. This was well made, I included a picture of the back to show the original brass screw construction. There is two glass shelves and one felt shelf inside. There is a round, lite stain on the top that's not noticeable but just wanted to mention it. I don't have a key but any standard ... moreantique key should fit it. There is a 1277 stamped on the back, no other makers mark. I took HD photos, so no surprises, just a really beautiful cabinet looking for a new home. I priced this much less than any cabinet like it on EBay and lower than others have sold for in much worse condition than this one. ANTIQUE FRENCH VITRINE DISPLAY CASE CABINET HAND PAINTED FIGURAL SCENE GOLD GILT
This is a fantastic and cool French vitrine from approx. 1890 to 1910 which has a black dark original finish. All original glass which is very wavy and old, an original mirror in the back, and is decorated with gold gilt trim and a romantic scene with several men and women on the front hand painted panel. It came from a great estate sale here originally 7 or 8 years ago and has been in the same place since. I was at that estate sale and remember this cabinet and not being able to purchase it that day. It is the interesting features of the carved moldings.the carving and color on the legs with the bellflowers and foliage.the beading around the glass panels.the lovely glass panels themselves.the original gold gilt rosettes with all present.the way the top is slightly raised.and the hand painted panels on each side.is what drew me to the cabinet ... moreoriginally years ago. This cabinet has the original key and will lock completely. Height to the top = 63" Width at widest = 28 1/4" Depth at deepest = 16" I have many other pictures if you are interested. At some point. A light was added to the top of the glass section which could be easily removed or add a nice touch to your display. There could be two added glass shelves for the top section which would increase the versatility of the display area. The painted scene on the left has some paint chipping off, but the other 2 panels are in excellent condition. The piece is overall in very good condition with the curved glass door and sides all in excellent condition. This piece measures 27" wide x 14" deep and 58" tall. The cabinet has 2 removable glass shelves as well as the bottom of the cabinet to display china(I displayed my antique French Limoges) Collectibles or smaller dolls. The cabinet stands 40 1/2" tall on pencil legs ending with small wheel casters x 17 3/4" wide x 14 3/4" deep. The back of the interior cabinet was wood. An outstanding French curio cabinet from around 1910 has curved glass and the famous frosty"Vernis Martin" finish with lovely and subtle floral hand painted landscape and cherub or angel scenes. The top has significant wear. There are minor mars and touchups elsewhere, otherwise the finish is very fine and original, see photos. The key is a handle only. The lock is lost. Plate glass shelves have polished edges, the original back mirror has"smoke" to show its age. Original curved glass is old and wavy. There is a hairline under 1" crack at the left rear as shown.
