Very nice pair of Globe-Wernicke file boxes from Cincinati. Ohio. They are solid oak; very heavy! Measures 16x 7.25 x5.5" Holds 3 x 5 cards. The spring back card holders work fine; one of the handles on the front is a little marred; maybe melted celluloid plastic? These are circa 1900 and are great accent pieces for an office. Light sratches; also an old wax mark as to who they were sold to long ago. The name can probably be rubbed out. The paper labels are clean and visible when you take the drawers out. They read: Finish Number 3815 1/2 Light Oak; Catalog Number WG-13516. This file cabinet is in outstanding condition with desireable paneled sides. 4 parts comprised of a seperate top cap, one section that has 3 filing drwaers, the next section for storage and a seperate base. Item up for sale is a very rare bar globe reproduced after the Galician Globe. I have looked all over to find nearly no info on this item. I beleive it is from the 60s but cannot promise that to be true as I am only comparing it to other items I've seen somewhat similar. This globe splits into 2 and exposes a bar to hide all your drinks and cocktail mixes. also a place for ice. most of the globe is made of wood and also part copper surrounding the globe. Within the ring of the globe is what looks like astrology measurements and order. The language used on this globe is close to Italian or Galician. Over times it looks as though some of the paper on the globe has dried and bubbled slightly. I apologize I do not know too much more about the item. It is in decent condition for its age. From the early 1900s, there ARE 4 drawers, doors all slide IN AND out smoothly. Not real heavy about 80 lbs. Measures 52 1/2 inches high, is 16 1/2 inches across and is 25 inches deep. The finish is excellent, with just slight scuffs, and scratches, as would be expected for a old cabinet. Top is in remarkably great condition. Back bottom veneer is worn some as shown, but very fixable if it is important to you. Top drawer brown rectangular card holder is a replacement. All Bakalite pulls. The metal is in very good condition for the age no dents or gashes the paint is all original army green very cool looking. The 2 handles are brass. The inside mechanism and the locking bars are missing but the doors stay closed without them. When Globe Wernicke and Macey began realizing how popular their barrister(lawyer's) bookcases were. They sought other ways to increase sales. This cabinet, sold by Globe(I believe because of their'scissors' style door closure) was marketed as a china cabinet or curio cabinet. Super piece completely original with heavy leaded and beveled glass doors. Fancy brass pulls with three bombay drawers for silver(I have the original key) Bottom drawer for storage. Bullnose top with top section having a mirrored back for display. A very rare quarter sawn oak cabinet-circa 1895. Overall size of the cabinet is 17 deep, 34 wide, and 61 high. Up for auction is this really nice vintage library card cabinet by Globe Wernicke from Cincinnati.It is a 2 drawer unit. I don't know when it was produced. It still has a paper label on the inside of the cabinet that has the makers name and the stain number. The drawers have dovetails. The cabinet does not. There is a small strip of the veneer missing on the back panel of the cabinet at the bottom approx. 1/2' wide see photo no. 5. It also still has the catalog brass medallion on the side see photo no. 6. It has been refinished at 1 time or another. But seems to still be it's original color. Ohio this is both a great piece of history and very functional. This card catalog has all the maker stamps on both the inside and outside. Another amazing feature about this rare piece of the bottom where it is stamped"Property Air Force/United States Army. The stories this piece of history could tell! It's overall in great condition. This is really a great piece and one I have not had before. Manufactured by the Globe company which was known for office furniture. Especially barrister bookcases and file cabinets. This piece is a quarter sawn oak file cabinet but without drawers but a door. Inside are two adjustable shelves. Would be a great companion for your office and a nice match to an oak file cabinet. Size of the piece is 14.5 wide, 25.0 deep, and 48.5 high. Note the paneled door and sides and the'bullnose' top. I do have the original key and works well. Last Time! Antique Globe Wernicke Oak Map Blueprint Cabinet 5 Sections - Rare!
This is a RARE find. I am simply not going to get to all the"projects" I have acquired and this deserves to be cherished and used! This is a set of 5 Globe Wernicke Map- Blueprint Oak Cabinets each with 5 drawers. Will NOT sell individually. These were acquired from a university and clearly were used in a Department of Agriculture(they have the USDA inventory stickers still attached)office prior to be used in the university setting. I date their age to be 1920s or perhaps the mid 30's. These were clearly utility pieces. I recovered paperwork from the USDA from 1930 thru the 1950's. These were made when furniture was meant to be used for many. Many years and was not meant to be a disposable item. They are solid wood with dovetailed joints. While they are structurally very sound and solid(one drawer front was broken& glue ... morerepaired) they need some serious TLC and updating of handles- I will leave that to the new owner. I was planning to more thoroughly clean, sand, stain in a darker tone for consistency& replace handles with vintage bin pulls: of course, the new owner may decide to do more or less depending on preference. They could be painted( or even used almost as is. Overall dimensions each cabinet 33" wide x 13 1/4" high x 25" deep. All 5 units are approximately 66" high. Look carefully at the pics and I can send more detailed pics. These are in need of minor repairs and restoration. The 8 drawers have the original maroon painted metal bottoms with the super nice copper colored sliding dividers(see photos) There are no cracks. Splits, or gouges to any of the cabinet or drawers. There are 2 tiny tack nails missing from the metal drawer pulls. No key but the complete original locking mechanism is intact in back of the bottom right drawer. You will be hard pressed to find a nicer Globe Wernicke 8 drawer oak filing cabinet! Original patina- cabinet has not been refinished. Original GLOBE decal. Purchased from old building auction. I will do my best to describe. 12 drawers. Oak outer, metal inner all marked Globe. This is 2 pieces stacked, 6 drawers each. This will need some restoration. There is a laminate piece that was placed on the top. There are 2 drilled holes in the top. Faded paint? markings throughout. One drawer pull is split, there is one pull missing. Wheels were attached on the bottom with ply wood, can be removed. This stands 26.6" tall minus the wheels and ply wood. 33" in width. Very heavy. Both Wood Drawers have had the front metal file display note bracket removed and screw holes filled in and a single knob added to each Drawer- see my close up picture of that area. Right Drawer is missing the Wood Slide Compressor and the bottom of the Cabinet has metal brackets on the bottom for screw in legs but legs could not be found. Original quarter-sawn(or tiger oak) dove-tailed two(metal) drawer file cabinet in nice strong condition. See photos as the left side lower edge has a small piece of chipped wood. Measures 14" wide by 16" front to back and about 5-1/2" high overall. The interior of each drawer measures about 5" wide& 3-1/2" high to the interior top of the cabinet. This looks pretty good and original as is or can be refinished- for"purists.

This auction features an antique dovetailed oak library index card file. This gem measures 16 x 14 x 10 ¼ inches and has 4 sliding drawers. Each drawer measures 14 ¾ inches in depth. 6 inches outside measurement, and the inside measurement for the file is 5 inches wide. This piece retains the original finish with just a few areas with light damage from use. Mostly a few small scratches on the top. This piece is unmarked as to the manufacturer, but similar to the Globe Wernicke or Macey models I have seen in the past. The bottom retains the original felt. Very nice antique oak file cabinet by Globe. Very clean. Very rare size at about 48 inches tall. 24 inches deep and 11 3/4 inches wide. Great for smaller lawyers/doctor office or a library. Fits into small spaces. We have our kids arts and crafts, along with school materials in it. Back has wear but we have left it. Does not affect and cannot be seen. Very useful and solid. Brass hardware. I think one id holder is missing from front drawer at the bottom. Has nice recessed panels on side. No wear on top or sides. The doors have a nice mechanisim that allows the doors to open, then slant forwrd to view the contents. All drawers are in nice wroking oreder. Inside, there are wood dividers and metal dividers. This is a very nice two drawer quartered quarter sawn oak file cabinet manufactured by the GLOBE company. Each interior drawer measures 12 wide. 24 deep, and 12 high.
