When Globe Wernicke and Macey began realizing how popular their barrister(lawyer's) bookcases were. They sought other ways to increase sales. This cabinet, sold by Globe(I believe because of their'scissors' style door closure) was marketed as a china cabinet or curio cabinet. Super piece completely original with heavy leaded and beveled glass doors. Fancy brass pulls with three bombay drawers for silver(I have the original key) Bottom drawer for storage. Very nice antique bow front china cabinet. It is made of oak and has 4 shelves. It is in good condition with some imperfections-it has a small hole that was cut out of the back and patched with veneer-you can't see it from the front as the bottom shelf is right in front of it. There is a slight separation of the wood on the top as seen in picture. The side pieces are glass; however. The door has a piece of Lexan in it-this was placed because curved glass is very expensive. Lexan is a very tough polycarbonate that is barely distinguishable from glass-you really cannot tell the difference when you look at it. I was told it is easy to take care of but not to use paper towels or ammonia on it. Of course, you could always replace it with glass if you didn't like it. It has a key, but it doesn't lock. Overall, these imperfections are ... morenot that noticeable-I just like to be up front and point everything out.
