Here is some general information on a hoosier cabinet below. Ever since the early 1900s the Hoosier cabinet has been one the most favored piece of kitchen furniture ever to exist. You might argue that the kitchen table is the dearest. And if it is, the Hoosier is a very close second. The official Hoosiers were made by the Hoosier Manufacturing Co. of New Castle. Indiana, but models were also crafted by other Indiana companies. Today the term"Hoosier Cabinet" is generically applied to any cabinet that fit's the following description. Has a base with doors and drawers on the bottom for storage, Has a porcelain work surface. Many times this will slide out, Has a top that often has a roll. Or tambour door. Top can include a sifter. A flour bin and other accessories, Usually the cabinet will be set on a set of small casters. There are many variations and styles Hoosiers and Hoosier type cabinets. From Country to Art Deco. Ever since the early 1900s the Hoosier cabinet has been one the most favored piece of kitchen furniture ever to exist. You might argue that the kitchen table is the dearest. And if it is, the Hoosier is a very close second. The official Hoosiers were made by the Hoosier Manufacturing Co. of New Castle. Indiana, but models were also crafted by other Indiana companies. Today the term"Hoosier Cabinet" is generically applied to any cabinet that fit's the following description. Vintage Hoosier Cabinet Slide Out Flour Bin & bracket
Slide Out Flour Bin This is a slide/ pull out flour bin for a" Hoosier" style cabinet. Going by the bracket I would guess this was originaly for a metal Youngstown cabinet. Most of these cabinets are refered to as"Hoosier. Sellers" With out any markings you would have to be a real expert to tell wich one the parts came out of. The best way is to know the measurements of what your looking for. This will fit many diff. cabinets as long as they have room for this size bin. This one has two channels on each side that would let this slide out on the bracket The flour bin measures; 6-1/2" tall including hieght of bracket. Actual bin is 10-1/8" wide, 10-1/8" front to back, mounting bracket is 11" wide x 12" deep. This is in useable condition. This has surface rust. Inside of bin is about same cond. as ... moreoutside. As with most of these bins this will need some cleaning/ restoring. With a wire brush a little elbow grease and a can of spray paint this will look great in your cabinet. Missing the sifter. Up for bid is this wonderful Hoosier flour sifter. It is in excellent condition for its age. It is 11.5 inches wide. 10 inches deep and 18 inches high. This is a vintage Hoosier Cabinet Flour Sifter. This is an original piece and needs to be put back into a cabinet and put back to use. The item still has some of the original white paint on the wood with all the tin intact. The sifter unit has some rust but is intact and even has the original wood ball on the handle. I couldn't get the cap off for the picture and like most things on this piece needs some elbow grease and some attension but a solid piece to work from. Building your own Hoosier cabinet. Or need a replacement part? Here's a Hoosier cabinet flour sifter with slide-out mount, sifter gizmo, sifter cap, and the bin. It would be spectacular if re-tinned, but if you're going for the vintage or antique look, you've got that right now. This is a used vintage or antique item, and as such has old paint on it, spots of rust, and general wear. It is not in mint condition. Dimensions are approximately 10x10 for the bin assembly, and the drawer slide is about 10 1/2" x 11" The entire assembly is about 9 inches tall when the bin is slid into the drawer slide, 8.5" tall for just the bin assembly. Measurements are approximate, as I used a tape measure, not a laser measurer or a caliper. Original Bread or Pie Bin removed from a Kitchen Maid cabinet. It doesn't look complete. But it is. In the second photo you see the front and the bottom of the bin. The walls, top, and back of the cabinet serve as the other sides. Included are four tracks that metal racks could slide on, as well as the moulding that frames the front of the bin. The bottom is 11" wide, 10 1/4" deep. The door is 10 7/8" wide, 7 7/8" deep. I would suggest that you know what you're doing before you undertake the installation of this. Approximately 69" tall; 40" wide; 22" deep without working table fully extended. Top left cabinet is a flour bin. While sifter is in the cabinet directly below it. I believe the red stencils to possibly be original(the back of the cabinet has a number and says"red- white" The working space is a heavy wood. The center panel goes up and down, but at this time does not move smoothly. The bottom doors open to a wide open area with an old wire towel hanger( New owner may want to refinish, but does not look bad as it sets. Vintage tall Flour Bin for Hoosier type cabinets. This Bin is 24" tall. 10" wide, and 8" deep. Overall it is in pretty good condition, but has a couple of minor issues. First, there is no lid, and no Sifter cap. Second, the Sifter portion is screwed on to the bottom of the Bin. It's definitely in place, however the catches and attaching pins are gone. If you feel you desperately need them, they're pretty easy to make and can be soldered on. The inside of this Bin is remarkably clean. And the front glass is intact. Up for auction is a Farmhouse Hoosier cabinet tin flour bin sifter with original'swingout' mounting brackets. The top of the bin flips up for adding flour. The screen. Sifter, and crank are all original and in perfect condition. There is some slight surface rust but it could be easily buffed out. It measures 10.5" deep, 11" wide, and 14" height; the bracket measures 3.75" diameter and is set 13" apart. The bracket can be removed by simple cotter pins. Hoosier Style Kitchen Cabinet With Enamel Work Surface And Flour Bin/sifter
This is a wooden kitchen cabinet that dates to the 1940s. The top and bottom are two separate units attached with brackets. The countertop work surface is enamel. The wood is not of high quality. I started stripping it and learned that the wood was not probably intended to be exposed. As it was a mix of species and grains. So I stopped stripping it and just repainted. The back of the upper part was so water damaged that it needed to be replaced, so I used bead board plywood painted red. There are still some missing knobs and latches. The tambour door was missing when I got it but the metal tracks were still there. They are in one of the drawers now for safe keeping. The flour. In with sifter tips out for filling. Original Hoosier Large Flour Bin Sifter Tin Metal Oval Glass Window Good Vintage
Another barn find along with pine wood trunk also listing currently. This one is unknown to me as to specific model. Looks like silvered tin construction with offset side featuring glass oval window 4 7/8" long x 2 3/8" wide. Paint residue but no cracks/chips and clear glass otherwise. Inside there is a rectangular metal frame holding rectangular cut glass insert and frame has impressed"PAT 0? which I obviously can't read without further cleaning- there may be a 7 somewhere in there, and glass is kept tight against body of bin by a nifty shaped pin. Top of bin is square shape 11 1/4" x 10 3/4" and recessed edge accommodates lid insert which is about 11" x 10 1/2" with foldable metal pull attached. Square upper is about 9 1/2" deep before inward funnel with sifter attached to the bottom. Sifting ... moremechanism fits over 5" opening in bin and has 5 1/4" diameter, held on both sides by bolts attached either side of container. What appears to be brass nuts and metal bolt assembly good, sifter crank has original porcelain knob and blades intact but needs cleaning as it is rusty. Bottom flange rusted just below collar. Paint, rust and years on this original cabinet bin/sifter attachment but a good rehab and/or parts piece. About 18" long in this state when assembled. Hoosier cabinet type flour bin w/brackets 11 3/4 w, 10 3/4 d, 15 1/4 t
You may be bidding on this great old flour bin. This is tin or light weight metal I believe. The outside looks great as it has been painted black. However the inside is in rusted shape. I hear people get these sand blasted and they are good as new, but I am no expert. Anyway the measurements are as follows. The bin itself is 11 3/4 wide, 10 3/4 deep, 15 1/4 tall from top of bin to lower bottom spout. The bracket to bracket measurement is 13 1/4. I do not see a maker name on this anywhere, it does have a small white porcelain knob on the handle and the spinning part is in good working order. Please note I only ship in the US. Nice sifter for your hoosier cabinet. Not sure what kind of cabinet this fits. It measures app. 10 1/2" across. 9 1/2" deep and 17 1/2" from the highest point to the bottom of the sifter. One pin is missing that holds the sifter on to the body of the bin. A piece of fairly heavy gauge wire holds the other side on so this is a very simple fix. Please see photos for best description. This is a vintage metal flour bin/sifter with a sight window for a Hoosier or Chatham cupboard coming from the contents sale of a long-time antiques dealer. It measures about 10" by 10" by about 21" tall(+ the bracket) and is overpainted in old pale green. The bin shows some dents and some flaking paint. Inside there is some minor surface corrosion from indifferent storage. The sifter works well and there are no breaks in the screen. VINTAGE ORIGINAL HOOSIER FLOUR BIN SIFTER BOWL W/Glass Window View
Up for your consideration is an original vintage flour bin for a" Hoosier" style cabinet. Most of these cabinets are refered to as"Hoosier" This will fit many diff. cabinets as long as they have room for this size bin. Dont forget when measuring to allow room for the side bracket that this will need to swing out. This one has a pin on each side that would have attached to arms that would let this swing out of the cabinet so they could fill it with out the hassle of reaching up and into the cabinet to fill this. The flour bin measures; 30" tall in the front including bin and sifter funnel. It's 10" wide. And 10" across(wide) The lip of the sifter is tapered the bottom edge is" and then it increases to" at the top of the lip. The pins on the side are just under 1/4" with a hole for a cotter ... morekey and are located 1" from the top edge of the bin. This is in fair condition. This has surface rust and paint and some minor dents. There is nothing that I would call major damage to this. As with most of these original bins this will need some cleaning/ restoring. With a wire brush a little elbow grease and a can of spray paint this will look great in your cabinet. THIS IS A VINTAGE BIN AND NOT A REPRODUCTION PIECE. This is not a reproduction. This is an AUTHENTIC tin sugar bin for a Hoosier Cabinet style Kitchen Cupboard. It is COMPLETE including the lift-up lid for filling the bin. The bail pull-out handle, and most importantly, the slide-plate for controlling the flow out of the chute. This slide-out plate is complete with it's stop tab. The bin measures 12" wide and 9" deep. Including the runners on each side the width is 12 5/8" The overall height is 12 1/2" This sugar bin is in very good complete working condition. There are some very shallow dents which are more noticeable in the photos than in person.
