Vintage Cool 1894 Oak Library Bureau Sole Makers 9 Drawer Card Catalog Cabinet
This is an old favorite of mine.Small enough to be very versatile.My mother was a librarian and I have her large 60 and 72 drawer units from her library but this guy is a real treasure.The larger units are from the 60s, this guy with it's dovetailed joints goes back to the 1890s. Each drawer has the 1892 and 1894 patent date on them.The Library Bureau Sole Makers Company was in business from the early 1880s to about 1925.I guess the library in the 1890s had to be the only gateway to the world and the hands that were in these drawers.Very nice old patina and there are a few issues but not major and easily addressed and fixable with low expense.There is a piece along the right rear back panel which is not really visible from the front.A couple drawers have some cracks and one has a piece of the rear panel gone but every issue is repairable ... moreand I have not altered or repaired anything so you are dealing with the original item.No screws or glue added but it could use some skill to keep it original.There was tape used on the exterior over the years and those are the shadows you see in the photographs.The shadow of the ring on the top was put there by the original librarian so I had a place to put my coffee cup.It is a really cool piece and soundly built.Another 100 years is no problem with this guy. Vintage 1 Drawer Antique Oak Library Bureau File Card Catalog Index Yawman Erbe
This listing is for a nice vintage cabinet by the Yawman and Erbe It is a one-drawer example. With the original brass drawer pull, and brass tag that reads"Y and E" It has the original adjustable sliding card holder in the drawer. Everything operates smoothly, the back however is missing(see picture) and there is some paint splatter on the front. These files were in common use in the early part of the 20th century in libraries, schools, and offices and were built to last. This example has wonderful quartersawn oak wood grain patterns and quality dovetailed construction with a few small cracks on the sides from over the years, but does not affect the overall condition. The dimensions of this file are approx. 7.5" wide by 16" deep by 10.5" tall.quite a bit taller than a standard card catalog. ANTIQUE OAK LIBRARY SOLE MAKERS CARD CATALOG FILE CABINET RARE LONG OPEN DRAWERS
Antique Library card catalog. Made by the Library Bureau Sole Makers Company. Made of oak. Appears to have never been refinished. Shows years of loving wear. Please see all the pictures for a better idea of condition. There are 3 drawers with 6 areas for cards. The drawers are unlike most cabinets and are open rather than seperated into cubbies. This actually makes it much more usefull than most other cabinets. Only one drawer still retains the inside hardware. All drawers retyain the original outside hardware. One very interesting thing about this cabinet are the hand holds that were carved into the sides. This cabinet was apparently moved alot so the hand holds were added after production to aid in moving the cabinet. Normally I would say this would hurt the value but in this case they were probably added around 100 years ago and I feel ... morethis actually makes it even more interesting. I wish I knew the story of why they were added. Possibly a portable library. Think about it. Its very interesting and personally I feel since it was done so long ago it adds to the history and interest of this wonderfull piece.We will ship anywhere in the Continental United States fully insured for 35.00. I have never come across one like this in 30 yrs. of buying and selling antiques, it has 3 seperate compartments in each drawer also the drawers faces are hinged to swing out of the way to remove the rods, however the rods are missing and the key also is missing. These are easy to make keys for and the rods are standard round stock. Most people that would use this would not need the cards locked in like this, so it can be used as is. Hi. Up for your consideration is a Vintage Globe Wer. Co. library catalog file cabinet/box. I believe it is made out of Tiger Oak. All the joints are dovetailed. This was an estate find. I have done nothing to it-no polish or Old English. It is a beautiful piece of History and would make a wonderful addition to someone's personal library! All the drawers are made to fix 3"x5" index cards and they all are still in fine working condition. On the top of the cabinet, at the far back edge it says'GLOBE WER.CO#9428-I-IAA-19-15-30-and I believe) $16.20" Two of us looked at it and we both think it is a dollar sign in front of the 16.20. Up for auction is this really nice vintage library card cabinet by Globe Wernicke from Cincinnati.It is a 2 drawer unit. I don't know when it was produced. It still has a paper label on the inside of the cabinet that has the makers name and the stain number. The drawers have dovetails. The cabinet does not. There is a small strip of the veneer missing on the back panel of the cabinet at the bottom approx. 1/2' wide see photo no. 5. It also still has the catalog brass medallion on the side see photo no. 6. It has been refinished at 1 time or another. But seems to still be it's original color. Quarter sawn oak construction with dovetailed drawers. I am not sure all are the original drawer pulls-the bottom 2 are the same, but the other 2 are different. All 4 drawers have label holders. Drawers open and close smoothly. The original block of wood inside the drawer remains in all 4 drawers. It measures approx. 15 1/2 inches x 15.5 inches and 11.75 tall. Nice, well built. Weighs about 26 lbs. Shows ordinary wear, dings, markings etc. Very good overall condition. There is a half torn off label with a zip code from Rittman, Ohio on the side. Very nice collectible!

Vintage, Antique Oak Library Card Catalog with 2 stacks & 4 Drawers C. 1912
Up for sale is a vintage library card catalog. It is a four drawer. Dovetailed oak, two piece stacking unit. The drawers are wood, and in excellent condition with their original brass pulls. All the drawers slide fairly easily, except for drawer L-Q which has some wear on the wood but it still works fine. The metal rods and card stop/supports are all there and work well. Supports are stamped Pat. June 25, 1912. The bottom stacking piece has some age cracks along the sides in addition to some scuffs and scratches. Paint spatters, and a few dings to the wood. The pictures show the worst age cracks where the wood is split in two places, but it is still solid and together. Dimensions of the two stacks combined is 13 3/8" wide. 10 1/4" tall, and 15" deep. Vintage Card Catalog This is vintage 6-drawer card catalog. It is composed of oak wood with a medium-tone finish. The bottom of the catalog is made of pressed board. The catalog was made to hold standard 3" by 5" index cards with holes in them. A rod inserts through the hole in the cards to hold them in place. The rods are released when a small amount of pressure is applied to the bottom of the knob as it is pulled outward. Each drawer is approximately 1/4 full of blank index cards. The drawers stick out from the body of the cabinet approximately 1/8" On the face of each drawer is a brass handle with a window for inserting a drawer label. Antique Mission era oak card catalog. It is probably Weis. This is a 2 piece stacking unit. More pieces could probably be added. It has great patina with a dark oak finish. It would be lovely refinished. The cards drawers are wood and slide easily with no breaks. The unit does show some age cracks on the side and is actually missing some wood- see pictures. The other drawer was replaced with a drawer that is wood on the outside and plastic on the inside. you can't tell any difference unless you open the drawer. there are little brass pulls on the drawers. this box measures about 13 1/2 wide. 17" long, and 5 1/4 high. I have two different lengths. They are in all the same shape from the same maker and time period. They held the 3X5 file cards. This drawer measures 19 1/8” long X 5 3/4” wide. The drawer face measures 5 3/4” wide X 3 15/16” tall. The PHOTOS are a representation of what you’ll be receiving. That means I don’t have the time to take 100+ photos of what are identical drawers. The all have the normal use aging. The scratches are quickly hidden with Howard’s Restore available at most home centers. A quick wipe and scratches are well hidden. No. I don’t work for the place, or have stock in it, but as furniture dealers we’ve been using it forever because it works. You are welcome to also pick up if you want a larger quantity. Antique dark brown wood card catalog. 60 drawers Beautiful wood antique card catalog on legs with 60 drawers. Was repurposed to hold screws etc. for a workshop. I am not sure what kind of wood this is but I think it may be oak. I have included a picture of one of the slide-out drawers as well. Very cool. Wow! What a great set This is going to look awesome and work great in your home weather in the kitchen. Washroom, office, Truly a piece of OSU history or just a lovely item to have in your home as this item is marked with an OSU metal plate on the smaller one and was used in a local Columbus home for recipes. The smaller one is also marked Maceys however they were both together and are of the same design wood etc It does show some signs of wear and tear but is still in fully functional condition. There are some scratches and the veneer located on the back is a little loose. This item is tongue and groove construction and very solid- pls see photos I think this could be vintage, industrial or shabby look- depending on your decor The drawers open with library type pulls and there is spot for a little card to identify what is inside All original ... morehardware both boxes measure 14 in length, 5 3/4 in ht and small is 8 inches wide and large is 15 1/2 inches wide Keep it as is, polish it up, or completely sand it down and put a new coat on it.But I would just leave it alone and accept this beautiful little worn look Shipping will be calculated for this item as it is very heavy.
