Circa 1900 Mahogany Green leather inlaid steps Sturdy and strong Minor surface wear, Here is a very hard to find set of antique library steps. These steps were made in England sometime around 1900 and we have recently imported them into our Atlanta. GA antique furniture store. Library steps like this were designed to allow someone to reach the top shelves of the bookcases in their libraries. Some are simple but others like this one are more decorative and add elegance as well as utility to the room they inhabit. The wood used is solid mahogany and the stairs themselves are covered in a green leather with gold tooling. A mahogany pole is central to the steps allowing one a place to use their left hand to keep balance while perusing books with the right. This pole is topped with a decorative brass cap. These antique library steps are in very good condition. The only wear is some superficial surface wear to the stairs as you can see in the photos. Structurally the steps are sound. At 180 pounds I am able to climb to the top stair and feel very stable. This is a very unusual find and would make a really interesting addition to any room with tall bookcases. These antique library steps are sturdy and beautiful. The four stairs spiral around the balance pole. Here you can see some of the minor surface wear to each step. The mahogany feet are quite sturdy. Each step is covered in gorgeous green leather. A beautiful and interesting addition to any home or office. The turned mahogany balance pole is capped with a brass top. Have Questions? Up for auction is an excellent vintage wooden two drawer card catalog. This piece measures 16 1/2 x 15 7/8 x 6 5/8" and features two drawers with dovetail detail. This is a vintage piece. So it does show sign of past use, including scratches, scrapes, and dings on the surfaces. At some point, it looks as though the original drawer pulls were replaced with metal knobs, which you can see in the photographs. The drawers still have the metal card catalog framework inside, and I can move the framework back and forth from the bottom. I have not cleaned or polished this piece, but I would imagine that it would look even better with a little care. Please view the photos carefully, as they best describe the condition of the item being sold.

This old Library Bureau SoleMakers. 2-Drawer Oak card file is fresh from an estate here in eastern Connecticut* The file is made from quarter sawn oak and beautifully dovetailed. File measures 12-1/2" wide by 13-1/2" deep and is 4-1/2" tall. The dovetailed drawers will accommodate cards up to 3-1/4" by 5" The rods and card stops have been removed and the holes in the drawer fronts filled in with wood putty. The nameplate is missing and the holes filled in with wood putty. It looks like this card file had once been painted red. This auction is for pick up only) Antique 30 Drawer Oak Library Catalog Card File Cabinet(actually used in a library) 2 Shelves-silver colored(non-magnetic) pulls- Dovetailed- I think it is from around the 1950's or 60's but not sure- The drawer section of the cabinet is in 2 sections, each with 15 drawers, one with the shelves- Height is 55-1/2" The width is 33" depth is 17" The drawer& shelf section without legs is 31-1/4" high; the drawers are 5-1/2" wide- The drawers do not have rods to hold cards in place but the back metal plate slides forward and back- The sides are an oak veneer and some of it has chipped on the bottom edge(see photos) there is some other edge nicks that don't look like veneer, and the drawer fronts don't look like they are but I don't ... morereally know. The sides also have the remains of some tape that was used to hang something on the sides when it was used in the library.

The dovetails are all still tight. The drawers open smoothly. There is a slight difference in the left drawer, it does not close completely into the opening. About a 1/4 inch to being flush. Wow! What a great set This is going to look awesome and work great in your home weather in the kitchen. Washroom, office, Truly a piece of OSU history or just a lovely item to have in your home as this item is marked with an OSU metal plate on the smaller one and was used in a local Columbus home for recipes. The smaller one is also marked Maceys however they were both together and are of the same design wood etc It does show some signs of wear and tear but is still in fully functional condition. There are some scratches and the veneer located on the back is a little loose. This item is tongue and groove construction and very solid- pls see photos I think this could be vintage, industrial or shabby look- depending on your decor The drawers open with library type pulls and there is spot for a little card to identify what is inside All original ... morehardware both boxes measure 14 in length, 5 3/4 in ht and small is 8 inches wide and large is 15 1/2 inches wide Keep it as is, polish it up, or completely sand it down and put a new coat on it.But I would just leave it alone and accept this beautiful little worn look Shipping will be calculated for this item as it is very heavy.

This is a great piece that was made by Yawman and Erbe(Y and E) in Rochester. New York. The drawers open by pushing down on the small metal knobs. There are steel back supports inside the cabinets that can be adjusted by clamping down at the top. The print on the top reads"Yawman& Erbe Mfg Co, Rochester NY" These come with plastic as well as card stock card guides. There is also two boxes of celluloided card guides. The drawers each pull out easily. The cabinet is made of steel. This is a great piece for display or for storing and filing! Condition: This piece is vintage and used with some ... morewear. There is some tape remnants from a previous owner intended to ensure the drawers held shut while transporting. There are some scuffs marks. And a small paint stain. The label is slightly wearing off but is still very legible. The drawer handles show some slight oxidation. Vintage industrial wood 2 drawer Macey library file index cabinet. Oak, dovetail
Up for auction to U.S. customers only is a very nice 2 drawer Macey library file. The oak cabinet has dovetailed corners. The drawers are designed to hold 3 x 5 inch cards(but obviously could hold a lot of other small items) and are 14 inches deep. The cabinet has a few small wood chips(pictured) but otherwise is in very good condition. A great piece and would fit in great with vintage or industrial decorating. This is an antique oak card catalog. Made around 1930S. It was made by the company"GLOBE" globe label and brass name plates and has the original brass tag and drawer pulls. It is in good original condition and drawers work as should. Both card supports are still present in the drawers and work well. This card file holds 3" by 5" index cards. This is a really well made file, with good construction all around. Please look at the photos. The finish is darker than the photos. The outside dimensions are 7 1/2" inches wide by 17" inches deep by 9 1/2" inches tall, so this is the great size to sit on a desk or kitchen counter top.

This auction is for an old oak 2 drawer 3 X 5 index card file. It is made by COLE STEEL EQUIPMENT CO. NY. USA. It measures 18" long, 14" wide and 6" high. There is a tight split in the top of the cabinet which is still secure. There is a few stains on the finish. The drawers slide smoothly. One metal frame rail on the bottom of the drawer, probably part of a system used to compress the index cards when the drawer in not full, is missing. Ple ase see photo's and email with any questions. The file is structurally solid(I believe maple wood) with dovetail planes on the bottom and on the drawers The bottoms of the drawers have cardboard inside but the split wood is underneath and is in fine shape.
