This is a vintage Hoosier Cabinet Flour Sifter. This is an original piece and needs to be put back into a cabinet and put back to use. The item still has some of the original white paint on the wood with all the tin intact. The sifter unit has some rust but is intact and even has the original wood ball on the handle. I couldn't get the cap off for the picture and like most things on this piece needs some elbow grease and some attension but a solid piece to work from. It would be spectacular if re-tinned, but if you're going for the vintage or antique look, you've got that right now. This is a used vintage or antique item, and as such has old paint on it, spots of rust, and general wear. It is not in mint condition. Dimensions are approximately 10x10 for the bin assembly, and the drawer slide is about 10 1/2" x 11" The entire assembly is about 9 inches tall when the bin is slid into the drawer slide, 8.5" tall for just the bin assembly. Vintage tall Flour Bin for Hoosier type cabinets. This Bin is 24" tall. 10" wide, and 8" deep. Overall it is in pretty good condition, but has a couple of minor issues. First, there is no lid, and no Sifter cap. Second, the Sifter portion is screwed on to the bottom of the Bin. It's definitely in place, however the catches and attaching pins are gone. If you feel you desperately need them, they're pretty easy to make and can be soldered on. The inside of this Bin is remarkably clean. And the front glass is intact. Hoosier Style Kitchen Cabinet With Enamel Work Surface And Flour Bin/sifter
This is a wooden kitchen cabinet that dates to the 1940s. The top and bottom are two separate units attached with brackets. The countertop work surface is enamel. The wood is not of high quality. I started stripping it and learned that the wood was not probably intended to be exposed. As it was a mix of species and grains. So I stopped stripping it and just repainted. The back of the upper part was so water damaged that it needed to be replaced, so I used bead board plywood painted red. There are still some missing knobs and latches. The tambour door was missing when I got it but the metal tracks were still there. They are in one of the drawers now for safe keeping. The flour. In with sifter tips out for filling. Sellers Cabinet Hoosier Style Flour Sifter Wood Oak Slag Stained Glass Windows
A fine example of the Hoosier style cabinet so popular in the early part of the last century. Oak and mixed woods construction with amber slag glass in the top cabinet doors. The sifter is intact and working. The tambour side-rolling doors are missing. And the latch to the center top door was replaced at some point with a hook and eye that works quite well for the purpose. As in many of these cabinets, the trays are missing from the bottom large cupboard and the sliding top is gone from the metal bread drawer. The cabinet measures 70" tall by 40" wide and 24" deep when the porcelain top is slid back, about 30-32" when it is slid out to make a larger work surface. Nice sifter for your hoosier cabinet. Not sure what kind of cabinet this fits. It measures app. 10 1/2" across. 9 1/2" deep and 17 1/2" from the highest point to the bottom of the sifter. One pin is missing that holds the sifter on to the body of the bin. A piece of fairly heavy gauge wire holds the other side on so this is a very simple fix. Please see photos for best description. Not many of these out there.it's the flour sifter/jar for a"Greencastle" Indiana Hoosier Cabinet. It measures 17 1/2" high and 11" in diameter. The sifter opening is 5 1/4" and the top opening is 7 1/4" It has the bracket but does not have the holder that holds the jar in the cabinet. It's also missing the lid and the metal sifter cone. I've had this for many years thinking I would run on a cabinet that was missing this jar. But. I no longer am in the hunt. It is COMPLETE including the lid/cap covering the sifter screen and the lift-off lid for filling the bin. It even has the metal hardware part that attaches to the cabinet with the side rails and the stops on each side. The sifter bin itself measures 10" square and 8 3/4" high. Including the hardware. It measures 11" wide and 9 1/4" high. This flour sifter is in very good complete working condition. The old white paint job isn't the best; it has some streaks and runs. Sale fail. So back up for auction: This flour sifter was installed in the kitchen of our 1911 French farmhouse. We are re-modeling and did not find a place for it. Good, working condition. Easy to install. Other than wear to original paint, I do not see any dings or damage of any kind. The sifter is 10 3/4 inches wide, 10 3/4 inches tall and 9 5/8 inches deep. It slides out to have access to the lid for refilling. Very fun addition to an antique kitchen. I hated to see it go.

It has pull out porcelain table top which extends to 28" and porcelain bottom in the roll slats compartment. The porcelain in the great vintage condition! The cabinet has a chip on the left foot(see pic#4) little gap between the right drawer and the carcass when it is closed(pic#8) Also a gap between left door and the carcass(pic# 9) which can be fixed by adding a cabinet's magnet. He enlisted in 1945 during WWII. He served during 3 wars- WWII. Korean War, and VIETNAM WAR. He retired at Ft. Benning, GA on February 6, 1973 after 28 years of service. He was retired for 23 years when he died on Feb 13. 1996 at the ago of 86. These items were purchased at auction. Were neatly stored by his heirs, and not touched or used for almost 30 years. Anyone with an eye can see that a little love a restoration is all that's needed to bring this beautiful piece back to life. beautiful enough to be used in its current condition. Great to restore; repurpose, This item is unique and rare. As is sale no refunds. History- Hoosier cabinets were manufactured between the 1890's and the 1920's and seemingly come in many configurations. Common features include a retractable counter top which was usually enamel. A built in flour sifter, a bread storage drawer and several cabinets and drawers for storage. They were popular because in that age, kitchens did not have built in cabinets and storage and the Hoosier cabinet filled that need. There is no set pattern for the drawer and cabinet configurations. Typically there's a space with a glass door for showing off your pretty pieces while the rest of the cabinet is completely utilitarian. Usually the enamel counter has a painted rim, usually in red or dark blue/black. I have been told that the original color was red. Drawers and cabinet space were usually equipped with racks and hooks. The cabinets themselves are not flashy or fancy. They were meant for the kitchen and not meant to be a show piece.

The one piece of glass on the right has a small crack on the bottom of it. Other Than that all the glass is in really good shape. The Hoosier has some cracks in wood on the left top side witch are very minor. The Hoosier has scratches and some minor finish loss. The inside of the Hoosier it was painted white and now due to age all the paint is flaking off. Also the bottom bread drawer that is metal has loss and holes as pictured. This vintage flour bin and sifter has seen many years of gentle use. And still has many years of use left. Based on other listings I’ve seen, it may have originally belonged in a Hoosier-style cabinet but actually came out of my kitchen where it had been installed in a stationary cabinet. The unit has a tin body with a glass front and measures roughly 28 inches tall x 13 inches wide by 9.5 inches deep. It still has its original tin lid. Springs, brackets, sifter screen and mechanism. It is clean on the inside, with only some surface rust on the outside. There is some inside metal discoloration but this is not rust. Time to give it a home with someone who knows how to bake!

Buy With Confidence 14 YEARS ON E-BAY 100% Positive Feedback! I have for sale an antique. Vintage, Hoosier cabinet flour sifter with the door. The door is not in good shape. The bin itself, the square area measures 16 1/2" tall at the front, 13 1/2" tall at the back,10" deep and 11 3/4" across. Add 8" for sifter and cone shaped area. These are appx. measures and could be off 1/8" or so. Paint and minor surface rust. Also needs to be straightened in places. The sifter does work, but needs to be straightened for it to close with the pin, also 1 is missing. It is in as found condition, with some dents, dings, surface rust etc. Please see the pictures as they are also part of the description. I am not an expert so please e-mail me with any questions. Vintage Flour Sifter With Cap for Hoosier Style Kitchen Cabinet Flour Bin
Description: This auction is for a Vintage Flour Sifter with Cap. It fits on the bottom of a Hoosier style flour bin although the flour bin is not included in this auction. The sifter is 5 1/8" at the top opening and 2 1/4" at the bottom. It has pins at the top to attach it to the flour bin. I would consider it in excellent condition for the age. It does have surface rust but is in good working condition. The sifter screen is intact and the crank turns smoothly. The wood knob shows wear on the paint but is not broken or cracked. The bottom cap fits snuggly. I do have two other pieces of kitchen cabinet hardware on auction at this time. If you bid and win more than one item. I will combine shipping. This listing offers a vintage Hoosier or Hoosier-style cabinet flour sifter bin. It has a wooden knob painted white. The rest of the unit is has both painted and unpainted areas. It has wear as pictured. With some light surface rust, scratches, dings, missing paint and other wear as pictured. EXTREMELY RARE Hoosier Kitchen Cabinet, Cast Iron Swivel Stool-Oak-Flour Sifter
Notice I did not list this as a hoosier style. This is an original hoosier cabinet. It has been in our home for about 5 years now. This showed up at a local estate auction. I've been a picker now for over 25 years. I went hoping the auction company knew what they were talking about. Many times these are listed as hoosier cabinets and they are hoosier style but not originals. I wish I could find the web site now that I found then. I really didn't think it was a hoosier because of that stool. I simply had never seen one like it. Hoosier cabinets are pretty easy to distinguish once you have seen a original. I personally have only seen in person maybe 5 that were actually a hoosier. The article I found over 5 years ago had a picture of this cabinet and was titled, Rarest of the rarest. This was a cabinet hoosier made but was only sold ... morespecial ordered. it was called a bakers hoosier. Not sure why but that's what the article said. It also went on to say that it was believed that only as few as 5 of them was ever made. It's not hard to know that this is a hoosier cabinet, it has everything that you need to know that. It's just very different with that cast iron stool. It's the only one that has the opening there and of course that's for the stool and a place to sit at it. I fell in love with it the first time I saw it. Trust me, I paid more for it than my opening price. I've learned thru the years that many buyers may not appreciate whether it's an original or not, but I do when I'm buying something for myself or when I'm buying to resale. I probably wouldn't have paid as much if my intentions was to resale. Well, now my wife and I have 2 grandchildren and probably more to come and we need the space to be what it was suppose to be, a breakfast nook. The cabinet takes up too much room for us to put a larger table to serve the purpose the space was built for. So, it's got to go. Metal Flour Sifter w crank for Hoosier Kitchen Cabinet
This flour sifter for a Hoosier Kitchen cabinet is in excellent condition. A few little dents that can be taken out. This could really be used, look at the pictures of inside and sifter part.
