Antique Library Bureau SOLEMAKERS 4 Drawer Tiger Oak Index File Card Catalog Up for auction is a very nice tiger oak Library Bureau by Sole Makers. It is a 4 drawer cabinet that has the original slide adjusters in each drawer. It is dovetailed made as pictured. The cabinet measures 19 ¾” x 16” and 13 ¾” tall. It is in great shape as pictured. It is solid oak except for the back which is a veneer. There are some chips in the back veneer as pictured… nothing big. On one side. The wood has split, but this a minor cosmetic issue as the joints remain solid. There is an ERIE sticker on top, and we think it is the Erie Railroad. ~ NO RESERVE 7-DAY AUCTION ~ Up for auction is this antique and very heavy wooden Library Solemakers Bureau Cabinet. Item has hand-made dovetailing on top with a felted base. This box is 100% genuine and original! Item measures 10-1/8" tall. 14" wide and is 15-3/4" deep. The wood is in nice condition. There is front wear from the drawers being taken in and out and staining to the top. There is also a portion with a red and white spray-painted area on the side just below old'ORC' lettering. The box is very sound though. And aside from the minor imperfections it is very sturdy. There are no broken or missing pieces and the boxes slide freely and work perfect. One box has had small repair, I could see glue where the dovetailing was reattached. These issues can all be addressed with a simple refinish or left alone. Your ... morechoice. Antique quartersawn oak Library Bureau Solemakers file cabinet. Measuring 11.5"L x 9"H x 17.25"W. Dovetailed construction throughout with original brass hardware and name plate. The drawer will hold a larger 5 x 9" index card and it has its adjustable divider inside. I do not have the key for the mortise lock. Cabinet is a little darker then the usual"golden oak" color of the Library Bureau line. Nice big cabinet and very heavy for its size.

Up for sale is an awesome Library Bureau Solemakers 9 drawer file/index card cabinet. Made of solid quartersawn oak with the great rays and flecks in the wood. Dovetailed construction throughout and original brass hardware. missing the brass rods and drawer dividers, 1 drawer does have a metal divider) Will hold a 3x5" card. It measures 19.5"L x 13.35"W x 12.75"H. The pictures show how great this cabinet really is. The only flaws that are really visible, besides normal wear and tear, are seen in the last 2 photos, a small gouge in the upper right drawer and 2 small screw holes that have been filled, in the middle lower drawer. The drawer is a piece of art and would compliment any cabinet collection. It is very heavy due to the solid wood! The listing has been updated with a new photo showing the insides of the 9 cabinets.

The 12 drawers offer lots of storage possibilities. But for me it's all about the style& décor. Nothing looks so awesome, authentic and enriching as these old office furnishings, with all their details of incredible quartersawn joinery& cast, aged brass. This is a nice piece of fine American Oak. These were the file cabinets of their day. But to make such a thing now would be an immense extravagance. And you can't fake this kind of character and lived-in feel of a fine old piece like this. But of course you can adapt card-file cabinets to hold every sort of smallish thing in very organized grids of drawers. The Tiger-Oak is awesome. This kind of dense. Spectacularly ... morefigured old growth White Oak is virtually extinct, if you found one of these ancient trees that were once ubiquitous in the Eastern Woodlands, it should be preserved as among the very last individuals of their kind. The hardware is all nicely sculptured cast brass and not thin stamped sheet. A very convincing piece, and very well made by one of the premier makers during the age of the gorgeous golden-oak offices& stores that we all pine for. The size of this one is great for an end-table. And it's gorgeously paneled on all sides so its meant to be freestanding and beautiful from every angle. Drawers are nicely dovetailed, finish is in decent shape overall, certainly very livable& lovable. Measures overall about 24-3/8" high. 30" wide& 15-7/8" deep. Up for sale is a Beautiful Old Vintage Antique Oak File Filing Office Legal Cabinet Furniture by Library Bureau Sole Makers(or Solemakers) This is a very nice cabinet that has the perfect Mission. Arts& Crafts style. I believe this was made in 1901 as the metal clasps on the inside of the drawers(see photo) are marked"Pat. Sept. 24 1901" This cabinet features 4 drawers with nice architectural pulls/ hardware. The plaque on the front of the cabinet reads"Library Bureau Sole Makers" It's a very heavy piece. It weighs about 55 pounds. It measures 17 5/8" tall, is 15 1/4" wide and is 23 3/4" deep(front to back) Please see photo with soda can for a sizing reference. I'm not sure if this used to sit on an office table or a library ... moredesk. The drawer face measures 12 1/2" wide x 3 1/2" tall/high. There's 2 section in each drawer so I think they were used for card filing. There are wood pieces in the back of each drawer(which I guess was used for adjusting the cards) but there is one drawer that's missing one. The cabinet shows wear as would be expected of an old. Heavily used wood(tiger oak? not sure) cabinet- it has scratches, scrapes marks, dings, dirt etc.The metal parts display tarnish. On the bottom the left corner, on the front of the cabinet, there's an approximately 1 1/2"2" section of damage to the wood. Antique Library Bureau Solemakers Oak File Cabinet--4 Drawer--RARE SIZE
Nice Library Bureau Solemakers file cabinet. In solid quarter sawn oak. The cabinet measures 15.75"W x 19.75" L x 14"H, and will hold a 5 x 8" index card in the drawers. Features dovetailed construction with original solid brass fixtures and drawer dividers. The rays and the flecks of the wood are nicely highlighted in this piece. Drawer dividers are all present, but the brass rods are missing. There is a stain on the top and side of the cabinet, but it adds to the patina and age of the piece. The last drawer picture also shows a crack across the middle of it which has been repaired and is barely noticeable. Very heavy piece and bigger then usual Library Bureau cabinets. Happy bidding!
