It has a couple of small holes above the bevel glass mirror on the right-hand side of the wood. I would guess it had a shelf there, but it doesn’t take away from the beauty of this antique sideboard. We used to get these all the time and they used to sell for thousands, but you can’t find them often anymore. Condition: Used Location: Des Moines, United States This tall antique oak file-drawer cabinet with flat file drawers dates to sometime between the late 1800s to the first decade of the 20th century. Before ... morethe era of vertical-file filing cabinets. The cabinet was manufactured by Rockwell& Rupel of Chicago, Illinois, and I have not been able to find another example of it anywhere online-in fact, I've only been able to find two file drawer cabinets made by this company: one is a smaller tabletop model, and the other was a wider one that was auctioned by Christies of London in 2006 for several thousand dollars. So, I think it would be fair to say that this is a rare piece of furniture. Probably used in an office setting in the late 19th to early 20th century. It later spent many years in use at a hand-crafted furniture company. When purchased it still contained piles of screws and cabinet knobs! As shown, the bottom two drawers are missing. I removed them, as they had been loaded down with screws and the bottoms were very beat up. HOWEVER, I saved the FRONTS(see second photo) and they could be attached as false fronts or of course a woodworker could replace the drawers. As shown, at some point in its long history the cabinet either had two top drawers replaced with one deep drawer, or perhaps only the cabinet pull was replaced. The drawer fronts have the remnants of old taped labels as well as scratches. Carved numbers, and plenty of wear. The bottom of the cabinet has significant wear to the trim, and I removed some of the side trim that was in bad shape. The cabinet and all its remaining drawers are in good structural condition and all the drawers are clean and open and close properly. The cabinet measures 60" tall, 30&3/4" wide, and 18&1/2 inches deep. Fixing this up is entirely optional-I love its worn. Industrial look and the hand-carved dentil molding and old-fashioned brass-plated label drawer pulls. It is solid tiger oak wood and is in wonderful clean condition. Each drawer fits properly; is in fine working order; and the index card holders move forward and back properly. I have placed a picture of the dovetail workmanship relative to the drawers in this listing. I have also placed pictures of all sides of the bureau. The front of the box has solid brass pulls and display frames. It would be very hard to find one of these in this type of condition. It appears to have a locking mechanism for the bottom right drawer. However, the key is missing. It also appears to have been partially restored, as the finish has been stripped and cleaned. It retains its original brass hardware, however, the bottom screws on each handle are missing. These however, could likely be easily replaced. Here is a vintage Macey. Of Grand Rapids Michigan, four draw index card file cabinet in beautiful tiger oak wood. It is made of solid oak and is in excellent condition. The original Macey litho is in very nice condition. It has all of the original hardware and everything works as it should. Please take a look at all the pictures. There looks to be some finish wear on the top and the top right draw has a slight crack in it. Both are very easy fixes if you feel like doing so. The case is tiger oak, dovetailed and the drawers are dovetailed as well, as photographed. This well-made card file is solid, heavy and was built to last. It surprising still has all of the inside wood stops, which are wood- not metal, spring loaded and work as they should. The drawers slide open& close properly. Here is a really nice antique tiger oak library Index 4 drawer Card Catalog made by Amberg File& Index. Genuine. Circa early 1900's. Nice aged patina. Quarter sawn oak construction with dovetailed drawers. I am not sure all are the original drawer pulls-the bottom 2 are the same, but the other 2 are different. All 4 drawers have label holders. Drawers open and close smoothly. The original block of wood inside the drawer remains in all 4 drawers. It measures approx. 15 1/2 inches x 15.5 inches and 11.75 tall. Nice, well built. Weighs about 26 lbs. Shows ordinary wear, dings, markings etc. Very good overall condition. There is a half torn off label with a zip code from Rittman, Ohio on the side. Very nice collectible!

The person I bought this from told me that this was the condition he bought it in from a Savings and Loan bank that had gone out of business in southern Ohio. As you can see from the photos the file is in great condition. It has a nice golden oak finish that really shows off the tiger graining in the oak. The cabinets overall dimensions are 52" high X 27 1/4" deep X 14 3/4" wide. The inside of the drawers measure 12" wide X 10 1/4" high X 25" deep. The only thing I see wrong with it is one of the drawers has the bracket missing on the bottom which holds the adjustable wood slide vertical. It is ready for use in your home or office. Great Antique Shaw Walker 4 Drawer Tiger Oak Card File Cabinet Up for sale is this great antique Shaw Walker 4 drawer index card file bureau. It is Tiger Oak and possibly has been refinished. It is 13 1/2" wide. 14 1/4" deep and 9 1/2" tall. The drawers have brass pulls with card holders to label the drawer. It has the Shaw Walker gold label on the top, you can read Chicago below that but it is partially worn off. There is the number 354-Y impressed into the bottom which is probably the model number. The condition is very nice. There is a small area on the top left corner where the varnish or lacquer is worn off(see photo) and in the back on the bottom edge there is a 4"x 1/2" area where the veneer is missing. These minor flaws do not detract from the appeal of this piece. The drawers hold 3x5 index cards. Only one ... moredrawer has the sliding mechanism to hold the cards in place. Nice old early 20th century c.1910 4 drawer index filing cabinet. The dovetailed drawers are designed to hold many 3X5 index cards. Each one retains their original bras pulls and each have their own metal flap to hold your cards upright. There are tons of dividers inside the drawers which we will include. All of the drawers glide in and out with ease. The tiger oak grain is highly figured and glows warmly with its original golden oak patina. The cabinet is tightly dovetailed on both the top and bottom. A sign of high end construction.You will see a dark spot on the left side of the cabinet. This spot is not nearly as evident in person as it is in the pictures. Measurements are about 14" deep X about 13 1/4" wide X about 8 3/4" high.
