Vintage 1 Drawer Antique Oak Library Bureau File Card Catalog Index Yawman Erbe
This listing is for a nice vintage cabinet by the Yawman and Erbe It is a one-drawer example. With the original brass drawer pull, and brass tag that reads"Y and E" It has the original adjustable sliding card holder in the drawer. Everything operates smoothly, the back however is missing(see picture) and there is some paint splatter on the front. These files were in common use in the early part of the 20th century in libraries, schools, and offices and were built to last. This example has wonderful quartersawn oak wood grain patterns and quality dovetailed construction with a few small cracks on the sides from over the years, but does not affect the overall condition. The dimensions of this file are approx. 7.5" wide by 16" deep by 10.5" tall.quite a bit taller than a standard card catalog. It is a Globe Wernicke four drawer library card file cabinet. It is made out of quarter sawn oak and appears to have the original finish. The cabinet is 9 1/4" tall x 17" deep x 14" wide. It weighs almost 30 pounds. Overall. The cabinet appears to be in very good used condition. One of the drawer fronts has been repaired. The cabinet has a slight front to back wobble. The cabinet has some scratches and scuffs but I really like the way that makes it look antique. This piece would finish very nicely if that is your preference. The cabinet measures 19 ¾” x 16” and 13 ¾” tall. It is in great shape as pictured. It is solid oak except for the back which is a veneer. There are some chips ... morein the back veneer as pictured… nothing big. On one side. The wood has split, but this a minor cosmetic issue as the joints remain solid. There is an ERIE sticker on top, and we think it is the Erie Railroad. Antique Wooden Oak Library Index File Card Cabinet Single Drawer This file box is generally in very good condition. There is an old repair to the veneer on the top and a few scratches and scuff marks. The outside has a nice patina. The inside mechanism is complete with slider that holds cards upright. It works smoothly and is nice and solid. There is a partial maker's label which appears to be redish with a gold border. The letters that can be somewhat read appear to be"cide" or"eis" Measures: approximately 15" deep x 7" wide x 5.5" high. Drawer holds 3" x 5" cards. Hi. Up for your consideration is a Vintage Globe Wer. Co. library catalog file cabinet/box. I believe it is made out of Tiger Oak. All the joints are dovetailed. This was an estate find. I have done nothing to it-no polish or Old English. It is a beautiful piece of History and would make a wonderful addition to someone's personal library! All the drawers are made to fix 3"x5" index cards and they all are still in fine working condition. On the top of the cabinet, at the far back edge it says'GLOBE WER.CO#9428-I-IAA-19-15-30-and I believe) $16.20" Two of us looked at it and we both think it is a dollar sign in front of the 16.20. Here is a really nice antique tiger oak library Index 4 drawer Card Catalog made by Amberg File& Index. Genuine. Circa early 1900's. Nice aged patina. Quarter sawn oak construction with dovetailed drawers. I am not sure all are the original drawer pulls-the bottom 2 are the same, but the other 2 are different. All 4 drawers have label holders. Drawers open and close smoothly. The original block of wood inside the drawer remains in all 4 drawers. It measures approx. 15 1/2 inches x 15.5 inches and 11.75 tall. Nice, well built. Vintage Card Catalog This is vintage 6-drawer card catalog. It is composed of oak wood with a medium-tone finish. The bottom of the catalog is made of pressed board. The catalog was made to hold standard 3" by 5" index cards with holes in them. A rod inserts through the hole in the cards to hold them in place. The rods are released when a small amount of pressure is applied to the bottom of the knob as it is pulled outward. Each drawer is approximately 1/4 full of blank index cards. The drawers stick out from the body of the cabinet approximately 1/8" On the face of each drawer is a brass handle with a window for inserting a drawer label. GREETINGS! This fabulous oak 60 drawer stacking library index card file was manufactured by the Yawman& Erbe Manufacturing Company Y& E of Rochester New York. The company was founded by Philip H Yawman& Gustav Erbe in 1880 and I believe this piece to be from circa 1900. It breaks apart into 12 sections of 5 drawers each plus another piece which is the top of the cabinet. It measures 59" tall at it's highest point and is 33" wide and 17" deep(18" with the handles) Each shelf measures 5 1/8" wide x 15 1/2" long x 2 1/8" to the top of the of the drawer or 3 1/2" to the top of the front of the drawer without an insert. I have inserts for each of the shelf units though so you can use them for storage without having to worry about the fact this was at one time a library card index file. This antique GLOBE 8 Drawer Tiger Oak Library Index Card File Cabinet is in excellent original condition! Measures 14" wide X 17-1/2" tall X 17" deep. This tiger oak cabinet is a real beauty. The 8 drawers have the original maroon painted metal bottoms with the super nice copper colored sliding dividers(see photos) There are no cracks. Splits, or gouges to any of the cabinet or drawers. There are 2 tiny tack nails missing from the metal drawer pulls. No key but the complete original locking mechanism is intact in back of the bottom right drawer. You will be hard pressed to find a nicer Globe Wernicke 8 drawer oak filing cabinet! Original patina- cabinet has not been refinished. Original GLOBE decal. No repairs- exactly as found in an old estate office room.

Washroom, office, Truly a piece of OSU history or just a lovely item to have in your home as this item is marked with an OSU metal plate on the smaller one and was used in a local Columbus home for recipes. The smaller one is also marked Maceys however they were both together and are of the same design wood etc It does show some signs of wear and tear but is still in fully functional condition. There are some scratches and the veneer located on the back is a little loose. Antique ca. 1910 era Library Bureau Sole Makers Oak 4 Drawer Large Index File Cabinet. Unique size will hold 8" wide and 5 1/2" tall in each drawer. Overall the file measures 19 3/4" wide. 15 3/4" deep and 14" tall; it weighs over 38 pounds! Very complete condition with all the original brass hardware and each drawer has the original sliding support dividers each having the Library Bureau decal. Earliest patent date listed is March 15, 1892 and last patent date is May 26, 1903. Solid oak with a wonderful aged patina to the finish. The only issue is there is a stain top right and it runs down the right side, I believe that spot could be sanded out and refinished nicely or just polish it up the way you see it. Some staining on the top(2nd last photo) A glued split across the top face of the lower left drawer, chipped veneer on the back at the bottom(last photo, color not accurate) and the bottom has been replaced with newer plywood. The brass label holder pulls and the brass corner braces/ trim have been polished enough to show its brass, leaving some age and patina. Overall size is 19 1/2" wide x 14 tall x 15 deep. Drawers are sized for 5 x 8 cards and are 13" deep. Weight is 36 pounds.

Up for auction to U.S. customers only is a very nice 2 drawer Macey library file. The oak cabinet has dovetailed corners. The drawers are designed to hold 3 x 5 inch cards(but obviously could hold a lot of other small items) and are 14 inches deep. The cabinet has a few small wood chips(pictured) but otherwise is in very good condition. A great piece and would fit in great with vintage or industrial decorating.
