Vintage 1 Drawer Antique Oak Library Bureau File Card Catalog Index Yawman Erbe
This listing is for a nice vintage cabinet by the Yawman and Erbe It is a one-drawer example. With the original brass drawer pull, and brass tag that reads"Y and E" It has the original adjustable sliding card holder in the drawer. Everything operates smoothly, the back however is missing(see picture) and there is some paint splatter on the front. These files were in common use in the early part of the 20th century in libraries, schools, and offices and were built to last. This example has wonderful quartersawn oak wood grain patterns and quality dovetailed construction with a few small cracks on the sides from over the years, but does not affect the overall condition. The dimensions of this file are approx. 7.5" wide by 16" deep by 10.5" tall.quite a bit taller than a standard card catalog. Antique early 1900's Quartersawn Oak mission stepback file cabinet. about 41 inches wide. The bottom section is 25 1.2 inches deep, the piece with the file drawers is 16 1/2 inches deep. The drawers measure 13 by 12, and the bottom section cabinet doors are 19 inches wide and 22 inches high. This file cabinet is in outstanding condition with desireable paneled sides. 4 parts comprised of a seperate top cap, one section that has 3 filing drwaers, the next section for storage and a seperate base. I could not find a name but it looks to be a globe wernicke piece or Yawman and Erbe. Very useful quality mission oak file cabinet. Came from an estate sale from Rochester NY. I believe this to be the best quartersawn oak office filing cabinet piece I have ever offered for sale. Manufactured by Yawman& Erbe the two piece unit consists of 24 drawers and six doors. All drawers have full sides and backs and are fully functional. The doors have raised panels-please note the fancy detail work along the top of the unit. Original manufactures label-all pulls are brass and/or metal-drawer pulls have the Y& E insignia. Pristine condition would not be an exaggeration for this piece-smooth and even finish. Some measurements: top interior door spaces are 21 wide. 14.5 deep, and 13 high. The bottom door spaces(adjustable shelves) are each 21 wide, 23 deep, and 23 high. The drawers with the alphabet letters(original) on them are 9 wide, 13.5 deep, and 3.25 high. Let me start by saying we have not cleaned or oiled this unit and it can look far better. Each of the sections are tight and the unit stands sturdy. There are many small issues with wood corners and trim pieces but the unit as a package is very nice. It measures overall at 58” tall x 33” wide x 26” deep including the drawer handles. There are four original pull rods and one replaced escutcheon. I'm guessing Globe-Wernicke though it is not marked. There are some marked numbers on the front of the unit and some on the wood support pieces. If you opt for shipping we will send 5 individual packages via Greyhound Express $400. These are standard size files that match Library Bureau& Globe Wernicke; each measures 33" long and 17" wide; 2 are 7" high and 1 slightly taller at 7 1/2" high. Also includes the matching topper top section with the Yawman& Erbe brass label center front. Each section as 3 oversize index type drawers. All the drawers have the original brass pull handles and the brass label card holder. Some drawers have the center guides inside and some are just wide open. All 3 sections have the desirable paneled sides. Magnificent quartersawn oak- a classic 1910 era oak office file. Perfect for expanding your current ... morefile collection. The files have normal surface wear; the top cover section has a stain and 1 deeper scratch; the backing wood on the larger bottom file is loosening but backing wood is an easy fix if desired. The photos should tell you a fine idea of the condition of the 4 section. Overall very good and quite solid. The oak has a wonderful aged patina. We would prefer a local pick-up. Antique Solid Oak Yawman& Erbe Stacking File Yawman& Erbe. Rochester, New York This stack has been sitting unused for decades. Considering its age. It looks remarkably good after only an hour of cleaning. I think it’s close to 100 years old. Some of the drawer faces and side panels are quarter sawn“tiger” oak. But many of the drawer faces have simple, straight grain. The stack is made up of 7 components. The large and small drawer sections can be stacked in any order. The photos show the components in the following arrangement: 1– Top(with Yawman& Erbe decal) 2– Card Index Section 3– Card Index Section 4– Card Index Section 5– Document File Section 6– Document File Section 7– Base The interior dimension of each small(Card Index) drawer is 15 ½” x 5 1/8” 3 ½” L x W x H) Each small drawer can hold 16 standard CD jewel ... morecases. Or 14 cases if you slant them so that you can see the titles(see photo) Each large(Document File) drawer can hold 14 DVDs. The interior dimension of a large drawer is 12 ½” x 4 ½” x 10 ½” L x W x H) Overall Height: 50” Width: 33” Depth: 18 ½” including handles) Weight: 181 lbs. If you look closely at photo#1. You can see that the trim on one of the small drawer components is slightly different than the other two. And if you look closely at the large drawers, you will see that one set has flat faces with rounded edges, and the other has beveled edges. One of the photos shows a small drawer and two large drawers sitting on the floor. All of the small drawers are of the same design. But o nly 6 have a sliding backstop. All of the large drawers are the same except for one. Which is built like most drawers, with wooden sides and back, rather than a metal frame. The drawers with a metal frame have an adjustable backstop. Problem areas: As you can see in one of the photos. It has a total of 10 easy sliding, dovetailed drawers with 9 thinner at the bottom and one thicker at the top. This is a really great 16 drawer quartersawn oak stackable file cabinet. Manufactured by Yawman and Erbe of Rochester NY-note the pretty paneled sides. The drawers retain the original Y& E embossed drawer pulls with label holders(some have the Y& E embossing and some do not but all match perfectly) There are 3 different size drawers. The top 6 drawers have internal dimensions of 9 wide. 15.5 deep, and 6.5 high(these drawers have paper holders or followers so you can use for paper or just for storage-your choice) The middle six drawers have internal size of 9.5 high, 15.5 deep, and 8.0 high. GREETINGS! This fabulous oak 60 drawer stacking library index card file was manufactured by the Yawman& Erbe Manufacturing Company Y& E of Rochester New York. The company was founded by Philip H Yawman& Gustav Erbe in 1880 and I believe this piece to be from circa 1900. It breaks apart into 12 sections of 5 drawers each plus another piece which is the top of the cabinet. It measures 59" tall at it's highest point and is 33" wide and 17" deep(18" with the handles) Each shelf measures 5 1/8" wide x 15 1/2" long x 2 1/8" to the top of the of the drawer or 3 1/2" to the top of the front of the drawer without an insert. I have inserts for each of the shelf units though so you can use them for storage without having to worry about the fact this was at one time a library card index file. In ... morethe pictures one drawer is missing the metal piece which I do have but just need a couple screws to put it back on. Overall this wonderful piece of antique furniture is in excellent condition with only minor scuffs. Scrapes etc. This is too large to ship so you will need to pick it up. Stunning Yawman& Erbe Filing Cabinet. Made from quarter sawn American white oak in the early 1900's. This is a stacking sectional cabinet: five sections with separate top and bottom pieces. These sections can be arranged in any order desired. The top section contains 14 flat file drawers. The second section consists of. 3 pull out clip boards with drawer fronts. The 3rd and 4th sections each have 6 vertical file drawers. The 5th section is composed of 3 large index style drawers. The condition of this cabinet is excellent with no notable issues. Available for sale is this stunning early 1900's industrial YAWMAN& ERBE MFG CO. cabinet. It features 15 DRAWERS with white and brass colored knobs resting in a cabinet that has 4 nice long legs to predominately displace this piece of furniture in ANY room of your home or office. This piece is made of what I was told is called Tiger Oak. It features groved trim all around as well as recessed sides. This was the Cadillac of the cabinet world in its day. The shear craftsmanship required to make this would be out of 99% of people's price range today. Cosmetically. This piece is gorgeous! 1917 3 pc Yawman & Erbe, Rochester NY Oak File Drawers Outside is Painted Green
Antique 1917 Yawman& Erbe. Rochester NY File Cabinet Drawers- Three Sections The Cabinet sections are in very good condition but the outsides have been painted green. One back panel has a crack. One back panel has a cut out section. The front left& right side edges have some ding marks. The sections could use a minor cleaning. There are metal rollers that help the drawers move in and out easily without wear to the drawers and outer cases. There are two rollers located on the top back edge of each drawer and two rollers located on the front inside edge of the cabinet cases. The sections are made for stacking and somewhat locking together so there is no sliding around. Each drawer has a painted over brass name tag holder. The drawer pulls are steel. Measurements: Three sections together 38" high- 14 1/4" wide- 24 1/4" ... moredeep. Each section is approx. 12 1/2" high. Here is a very nice Yawman& Erbe 2 drawer card file cabinet. Inside drawer measures 5 1/4" wide and 3 1/2" tall. Overall dimensions are 13" wide. 15 1/4" long and 5" tall. It is in very good condition but one card slide is missing as seen in the last photo.

Thanks for checking out our listing! Offered here is a gorgeous. Early Yawman& Erbe Manufacturing Co. antique floor model library or office twenty five drawer index file cabinet or card catalog. This hard-to-find model has some great things going for it.it is high quality, large with 25 drawers, free standing and an early model! In addition, t his unusual piece is a rare stacking model.the top and. Each consecutive layer of drawers, lift off all the way to the base. A total of 7 pieces including top, base and five rows of drawers(5 drawers each) Solid wood(sorry but I'm unsure what kind.possibly Walnut as it is quite dark and not as dense as Oak) with beautiful grain and dark finish. Both the top and base feature lovely. Wide moldings that are deeper than the actual drawers, creating a nice decorative accent not normally seen on cabinets ... morelike this. There is also a simple, decorative molding that runs the height of the cabinet on each side of the drawer rows. All original, untouched finish with the exception of the bottom, left hand drawer front which someone has stripped/begun to refinish. this isn't very noticeable. However, if you are looking to refinish the entire piece, it's a good sign of what's beneath because this drawer looks great! Each of the drawers has a solid wood front, dovetailed into secondary solid wood sides. All of the hooked handles/label holders on drawer fronts are original, solid copper with terrific patina(please note that one of these on the bottom left corner has been refinished/polished as mentioned above) Each of the drawer fronts on the bottom row features a small, copper tab with the company logo, Y& E Co. embossed on it. It appears that perhaps these were also originally present on the drawers just above but now there are just small pre-cut holes. I could be mistaken about this but I'm unsure what other purpose the holes would serve. Most of the drawers and interior plates slide easily.a few tend to stick but do open.
