Condition: Used Location: Des Moines, United States This tall antique oak file-drawer cabinet with flat file drawers dates to sometime between the late 1800s to the first decade of the 20th century. The cabinet was manufactured by Rockwell& Rupel of Chicago, Illinois, and I have not been able to find another example of it anywhere online-in fact, I've only been able to find two file drawer cabinets made by this company: one is a smaller tabletop model, and the other was a wider one that was auctioned by Christies of London in 2006 for several thousand dollars. So, I think it would be fair to say that this is a rare piece of furniture. Probably used in an office setting in the late 19th to early 20th century. It later spent many years in use at a hand-crafted furniture company. When purchased it still contained piles of screws and cabinet knobs! As shown, the bottom two drawers are missing. I removed them, as they had been loaded down with screws and the bottoms were very beat up. HOWEVER, I saved the FRONTS(see second photo) and they could be attached as false fronts or of course a woodworker could replace the drawers. As shown, at some point in its long history the cabinet either had two top drawers replaced with one deep drawer, or perhaps only the cabinet pull was replaced. The drawer fronts have the remnants of old taped labels as well as scratches. Carved numbers, and plenty of wear. The bottom of the cabinet has significant wear to the trim, and I removed some of the side trim that was in bad shape. The cabinet and all its remaining drawers are in good structural condition and all the drawers are clean and open and close properly. The cabinet measures 60" tall, 30&3/4" wide, and 18&1/2 inches deep. Fixing this up is entirely optional-I love its worn. Industrial look and the hand-carved dentil molding and old-fashioned brass-plated label drawer pulls. It is solid tiger oak wood and is in wonderful clean condition. Each drawer fits properly; is in fine working order; and the index card holders move forward and back properly. I have placed a picture of the dovetail workmanship relative to the drawers in this listing. I have also placed pictures of all sides of the bureau. Here is a vintage Macey. Of Grand Rapids Michigan, four draw index card file cabinet in beautiful tiger oak wood. It is made of solid oak and is in excellent condition. Here is a really nice antique tiger oak library Index 4 drawer Card Catalog made by Amberg File& Index. Genuine. Circa early 1900's. Nice aged patina. Quarter sawn oak construction with dovetailed drawers. I am not sure all are the original drawer pulls-the bottom 2 are the same, but the other 2 are different. All 4 drawers have label holders. Drawers open and close smoothly. The original block of wood inside the drawer remains in all 4 drawers. It measures approx. 15 1/2 inches x 15.5 inches and 11.75 tall. Nice, well built. Weighs about 26 lbs. Shows ordinary wear, dings, markings etc. Very good overall condition. There is a half torn off label with a zip code from Rittman, Ohio on the side. Very nice collectible!

There are 2 tiny tack nails missing from the metal drawer pulls. No key but the complete original locking mechanism is intact in back of the bottom right drawer. You will be hard pressed to find a nicer Globe Wernicke 8 drawer oak filing cabinet! Original patina- cabinet has not been refinished. Original GLOBE decal. No repairs- exactly as found in an old estate office room.

It's a 2 drawer and holds 4" x 6" index cards. It has brass rails that run through the drawers to hold the cards and all of the hardware is still there! When you turn the knob on the front. The rail expands of contracts depending on how you turn it. This is a very nice feature if you use these in that way. We think this little guy is old as the latest patent listed on the inside is 1899! Most other ones we've seen are usually dated around the 1920's or 30's but not this one! It's tiger oak and it's in good shape. The color is good and the wood has been well cared for. The top has some water marks and one or two dark spots as you can see in the ... morepicture but don't let that detract you from the beauty. The front drawers are near perfect and have the brass label holders. The knobs for the rails and the little brass maker's plate. The maker's plate is not legible any more. It measures: 15.25" W x 12.5" D x 6.5" H. The drawers are straight mortised(not dovetail mortised) and measure 6" W x 4" H x 11" D. There is a small gap on each side where the top and sides come together. This could likely be glued and clamped but we didn't mess with it. We like original items and this one is all original. It's got great color and the beauty of something made over 100 years ago! Wow! Stunning. The person I bought this from told me that this was the condition he bought it in from a Savings and Loan bank that had gone out of business in southern Ohio. As you can see from the photos the file is in great condition. It has a nice golden oak finish that really shows off the tiger graining in the oak. The cabinets overall dimensions are 52" high X 27 1/4" deep X 14 3/4" wide. The inside of the drawers measure 12" wide X 10 1/4" high X 25" deep. Hi: For your consideration here is a nice vintage or antique oak Globe Wernicke 2 drawer card file! Measures about 16 1/2" front to back. 16" wide, and 6 5/8" tall. The label holders/pulls are brass with a nice patina. Steel/metal green painted drawers both have the original sliders. File is in good condition with variable wood grain on all sides and between the two drawers. Top(2nd photo) has seen a lot of use with dark marks, a couple nicks/small gouges, and a few shallow stress splits in the top left(facing) corner. Drawers have some light rust and missing some paint as shown in the last four photos. All four metal drawer runners on the inside top are intact. This is an antique Macey tiger oak 2 drawer card file in lovely condition with silver Macey logo on the front. It has one chip out of the back. See pic. It's very strong. The two brass nails that hold the drawer pull plate onto the drawer are missing on one side. I didn't replace them as you might want to remove the hardware for polishing. This cabinet is probably close to 80 years old and is in still really good condition it has dovetail jointing on the cabinet and on the drawer pulls themselves. It is Tiger oak wood and there are a lot of tiger stripes throughout. I've never seen one with with such an array of tiger stripes. One of the drawers has a solid bottom in it for pencils and tape and staplers and what have you. The plywood on the back has a 1 inch to a 1& 1/2 inch wide piece of veneer missing off of it which could be darkened and backed up against a wall and not even noticed. The cabinet measures 13& 1/2wide by 13& 1/2 tall by 16&1/2 deep. The drawer measures 5& 1/8 wide by 3& 1/4 tall by 14& 1/2 inches deep. The keepers all work properly too. File Cabinet Tiger Oak Dove Tail Top Drawer Quarter Sawn Old Antique Refinished
I just found this fantastic 1930s solid quarter sawn tiger oak( except for backside panel) file card cabinet in great condition. I stripped and refinished the cabinet with a real nice deep golden oak stain. The winner of the auction will hand select the type of final coat finish they desire. Either satin poly or gloss. All fours corners of the cabinet is dovetailed as well as the drawers. There are a couple darker stains but for a piece that is close to 90 years old it's not that bad. Solid brass original pulls. On the backside towards the bottom a couple of small pieces of veneer have cone off. They always used oak veneer on the back because the cabinet was usually placed against a wall. Great Antique Shaw Walker 4 Drawer Tiger Oak Card File Cabinet Up for sale is this great antique Shaw Walker 4 drawer index card file bureau. It is Tiger Oak and possibly has been refinished. It is 13 1/2" wide. 14 1/4" deep and 9 1/2" tall. The drawers have brass pulls with card holders to label the drawer. It has the Shaw Walker gold label on the top, you can read Chicago below that but it is partially worn off. There is the number 354-Y impressed into the bottom which is probably the model number. The condition is very nice. There is a small area on the top left corner where the varnish or lacquer is worn off(see photo) and in the back on the bottom edge there is a 4"x 1/2" area where the veneer is missing. These minor flaws do not detract from the appeal of this piece. The drawers hold 3x5 index cards. Only one ... moredrawer has the sliding mechanism to hold the cards in place. This is a really gorgeous and useful file cabinet that I've had since about 94. I purchased it from an antique store on Lincoln Ave just south of Irving Park Road for $1.100. The only hardware missing are the rods at the bottom of each drawer, has original handles and label cards. The drawers are removable and slide on wooden slides. Really a great piece. I'm getting rid of it because if just doesn't fit in our office space. Which has knee walls that are 3 feet tall, and there's just no where to put it. Also, I mainly used to it store compact discs, and well, they don't make those any more, do they? The cabinet is 55" tall. From floor to top, 16" wide from left to right, and 26 3/8" deep, not including the projection of the brass handles. In full disclosure. The interior of the drawers measure approx 10.5" ... morewide, so this would not be practical to use as a file cabinet for traditional 8.5 X 11 sized paper. Nice old early 20th century c.1910 4 drawer index filing cabinet. The dovetailed drawers are designed to hold many 3X5 index cards. Antique Globe Tiger Oak 2-Drawer Card File Cabinet. Circa 1900. This is a fine and early 2-drawer file cabinet, made by Globe(later Globe Wernicke) c. 1900. The piece is made of solid tiger oak, and is in good condition. It is complete, with the two original sliders in the drawer. There is minor separation at some of the seams as well as holes in the bottom of the cabinet. Recently refinished: the Globe stamp has been sanded off, but it is 100% authentic. St eel inside drawers and a metal tag with a serial number on it from the company that owned it 14" wide x 16 1/2" deep x 5 1/2" tall overall.

This is a late 19th-early 20th C tiger oak quarter sawn oak filing cabinet. It is a solid and well made piece of office furniture with some wear showing it's age but with a stunning wood grain. I believe at one time there was another cabinet on top of the other 3 separate sections because of 2 small holes there. But this is not really noticeable and it measures 44" high x 14 1/2" wide x 24" deep with four legs.
