You might argue that the kitchen table is the dearest. And if it is, the Hoosier is a very close second. The official Hoosiers were made by the Hoosier Manufacturing Co. of New Castle. Indiana, but models were also crafted by other Indiana companies. Today the term"Hoosier Cabinet" is generically applied to any cabinet that fit's the following description. Has a base with doors and drawers on the bottom for storage, Has a porcelain work surface. Many times this will slide out, Has a top that often has a roll. Or tambour door. Top can include a sifter. Lets not forget the bob Evans tin can. It is GREAT. This is 70" tall, 47 1/2" wide. 28" front to back. The tambour roll is 13" tall, 22 1/4" wide, all doors in the top section are 11 1/4" wide, and are 18 1/4" and 35 1/4" tall. In the base the right hand drawers are all 10 1/4" wide. 21" front to back. They have depths of 2 3/4" 4, and 8 3/4" deep. Behind the two doors you will find. Two original wire baskets for lids or pots and pans. Also two original pull out shelves. These shelves are usually missing. Behind the large left door in the top section. A Baker's Cabinet has loosely been refered to as a Hoosier cabinet due to the large number sold by"The Hoosier Manufacturing Company" Originally a typical baker's cabinet would consist of a table with drawers and bins for flour or meal. The upper shelf would include shelves for dishes or utensils. In the Midwest Ohio region. By the turn of the century, a few small furniture companies began to mass produce these free standing kitchen ... morecabinets. These company's accomodated the independent baker to store all the items needed right at their fingertips. Built in flour bins with sifters attached. Sugar containers, and spice jars were helpful. Large bottom cabinets provided storage for utensils and pans. A work table top attached to the cabinet provided space to roll out the dough and prepare the breads and pastries. Various materials. Including wood, zinc, and alluminum, have been used for the workstation tops, the most popular and healthiest was porcelain. Through the use of a bracket to lift the upper cabinet above the lower, the work table could extend out for a larger working space. Roll doors were used as sanitary means and ant proof casters placed at the 4 feet kept the pests from crawling up into the cabinet. Boone Cabinets were designed by 369 women. There are a couple mild straw marks on the interior, done in the making. There is a slight bit of excess glass at mold seams on handle end, also done in the making. Nice sifter for your hoosier cabinet. Not sure what kind of cabinet this fits. It measures app. 10 1/2" across. 9 1/2" deep and 17 1/2" from the highest point to the bottom of the sifter. This is not a reproduction. This is an AUTHENTIC tin sugar bin for a Hoosier Cabinet style Kitchen Cupboard. It is COMPLETE including the lift-up lid for filling the bin. The bail pull-out handle, and most importantly, the slide-plate for controlling the flow out of the chute. This slide-out plate is complete with it's stop tab. The bin measures 12" wide and 9" deep. Including the runners on each side the width is 12 5/8" The overall height is 12 1/2" This sugar bin is in very good complete working condition. Purchase a piece of American history! The item(s) for sale is a GENUINE VINTAGE item bought with other items that belonged to army sergeant. Gordon H. King, d.o.b. 12-17-1910. He enlisted in 1945 during WWII. He served during 3 wars- WWII. Korean War, and VIETNAM WAR. He retired at Ft. Benning, GA on February 6, 1973 after 28 years of service. He was retired for 23 years when he died on Feb 13. 1996 at the ago of 86. These items were purchased at auction. Were neatly stored by his heirs, and not touched or used for almost 30 years. Anyone with an eye can see that a little love a restoration is all that's needed to bring this beautiful piece back to life. beautiful enough to be used in its current condition. Pieces is solid wood and structurally sound. Almost 100% certain it's Hoosier because of the red counter and some other features. ... moreHowever. This has not been authenticated by an appraiser. Great to restore; repurpose, This item is unique and rare. As is sale no refunds. History- Hoosier cabinets were manufactured between the 1890's and the 1920's and seemingly come in many configurations. Common features include a retractable counter top which was usually enamel. A built in flour sifter, a bread storage drawer and several cabinets and drawers for storage. They were popular because in that age, kitchens did not have built in cabinets and storage and the Hoosier cabinet filled that need. There is no set pattern for the drawer and cabinet configurations. Typically there's a space with a glass door for showing off your pretty pieces while the rest of the cabinet is completely utilitarian. Usually the enamel counter has a painted rim, usually in red or dark blue/black. I have been told that the original color was red. Drawers and cabinet space were usually equipped with racks and hooks. The cabinets themselves are not flashy or fancy. They were meant for the kitchen and not meant to be a show piece.

Antique Vintage c1940s Napanee Bread Cabinet Hoosier Style Enamel Top Restored
This cute Napanee bread cabinet from the 1940s was salvaged from an estate and fully restored(painted inside and out) The base is a creamy white with mint green drawer fronts and accents. It boasts the original chrome hardware. They c1940s teapot and teacup Meyercord decals on the front doors and drawers are a fun add on! The white porcelain enamel over metal top is in great shape with only a few spots of character adding loss to the porcelain along the edges and some very minor surface scratches on the top. The metal bread drawers on the sides have only been cleaned and not painted. The center drawers have the original varnish that cleaned up beautifully– the top drawer is divided for silverware. The interior features a sliding metal rack. It comes with the original Napanee-Coppes tag on the front of the piece and it is also stamped on the ... moreunderside. Old Vintage Rustic Primitive Red Wall or Hoosier Spice Rack Shelf Antique NICE!
Hi- Though I don’t know its actual age. For sale is what I believe to be an antique or vintage, homemade and handmade Hoosier style or wall spice shelf rack. It is made out of a fairly lightweight wood so it won’t be super heavy to hang- it has two little hooks on the back that you can use, they swing flush behind the wood. There are three rows for spices. This sweet shelf measures just about 16” tall at the longest dimension x 12.25" wide. It is 2.75” deep with the space on each shelf being about 11.25” long x 2.5” deep. The red paint is in good shape, but you can see some drips. It is overall in good vintage condition but of course shows wear from use- please see the photos and contact me before bidding with any questions. I want you to be happy but no returns allowed. For sale here is a antique OVERSIZED OAK KITCHEN CABINET TOP. I do not see a makers name. It measures about 37 1/2 inches tall x 54 1/2 inches across x 11 1/2 inches deep. I would guess it to be hard to find another oversize top if you have a base. Pictures show it well. All original- one small crack in the glass- corner. Roll does not work. Antique vintage hoosier cabinet with mfg name plate in metal on it that says NAPANEE. The back has"Ivory and Green" printed on it so that must have been the original colors. The hardware appears to be original as is the lovely yellowish color flour sifter and bin.
