Indiana, but models were also crafted by other Indiana companies. Today the term"Hoosier Cabinet" is generically applied to any cabinet that fit's the following description. Measures(appx) 79" high· 42” wide· 25" deep(bottom) 12" deep(top) Top features two(2) glass door cabinets with shelves. Three(3) utensil drawers, and one(1) small bin in the center. There is a'hidden' maple cutting board, which slides out from beneath the work surface. A large bread box drawer is in the lower right side. And one large cabinet on the lower left side. When my mother got it she had it refinished and it has been on an enclosed porch for over 40 years. it was used as a Bar. There are 7 small glass containers. Six go in a holding rack with one extra one. There is a hopper for flour with a crank dispenser. The Hoosier is 70 inches tall by 40.5 inches wide and 27 inches deep. Vintage Oak Hoosier Style Cabinet By Klamer-Goebel Furniture Co. Evansville, IN
This is a beautiful old two piece Hoosier style bakers cabinet. It measures approx. 75" Tall x 26" deep x 42" wide. The counter top measures 48 1/4" wide as it overhangs the edges of the cabinet. The cabinet was made by the Klamer-Goebel Furniture Company in Evansville. Indiana. The label is still affixed to the back of the cabinet. If I had to guess the age of the cabinet, I would say that it is from the mid to late 1930's. It has been recently refinished which consisted of painstakingly stripping 3 layers of different colored paint and one coat of stain down to the original oak, then applying a coat of Sedona Red stain was applied to the outside of the cabinet in a manner which allowed the natural grains in the oak still to come through. if you zoom in the 1st picture you can see the natural grain of the oak! The ... moreinside of the cabinet was painted with a high grade paint and primer in a very similar color. The counter top is also oak and was also painted with the same color and sealed several times. New round casters were added to the bottom that are very similar to the original ones that were broken and not working. The color of this cabinet, which i consider to be close to a rich,warm cinnamon shade will go great with any color cabinets you have in your kitchen, white, medium or dark. There is a pull out biscuit prep board under the counter top. There are two tilt out bins on the bottom and a slide out drawer on the bottom left. There is no wood rot anywhere on the cabinet.The top middle door mirror is old and beveled with minor age spots and the other two top doors have an old frosted crackled ice type glass in them. There is also a smaller tilt out bin on the top middle with a drawer above it. Other than the cabinet being quite old and it's normal condition from age, there are no major defects whatsoever. Vintage Wilson Oak Hoosier Kitchen Cabinet Cupboard Buffet
This is a Vintage Wilson Oak Hoosier Kitchen Cabinet. It measures 70" tall x 41" wide x 25 1/2" deep. It is missing the flour sifter. All of the drawers and doors work well. The roll down door needs a little coaxing to go up and down and could use some TLC to make it work well. It has all of the original pulls. Hinges, latches and the original stained glass panels. The sliding pull out enamel tabletop is well worn having lost most of it's shine but only has a few minor chips. Some of the wood veneer has separated as shown in the photos. Beautiful antique hoosier style cabinet! Not scratched or beat up. A piece you can really show off in your home. Two small marks on the porcelian, otherwise, good and clean. It's two pieces, stands about six foot high and four feet across. One of the nicest old hoosier cabinets I have ever seen. Everyone was always in awe of it when they came in. Vintage Hoosier Cabinet 1900-1950, American, Medium Wood Tone, Oak
My dad has owned this cabinet for at LEAST 25 years. He is not the original owner. This cabinet is in excellent shape. The only real damage I could find is shown in picture 7. That is the very top of the upper cabinet and I have no idea what happened up there. It looks like someone fixed it or tried to. This cabinet measures approximately 70" tall x 26" deep x 40" wide the upper cabinet is 11" deep. The enamel porcelain metal work table extends to 34" It pulls out easy and is in good shape. My dad always kept a towel over it so it would'nt scratch. There is some scuffing on the back of it when pulled out all the way. It has the original pull out bread board which looks like it has never been used. It has all the original hardware. The top shelf in the lower cabinet is not original. On the back is painted and faded ... morenumber 226 on the top and bottom. There is also* CO STORE 1. The* is so faded we can't make it out that is highlighted in picture 9. There is also 226 Boome crudely painted on the back top piece and 226 painted on the bottom piece. I would have to guess this ended up at an auction house at some point and that is how they kept the two pieces together. The tambour door has the original webbing on the back of it. It rolls up and down easy. It has the original pull out flour bin with a sifter extending to the bottom door. It sits on four castors that roll easily. It has the original bottom bread drawer with the cover. The middle drawer has three dividers. These drawers are all DEEP. They extend almost to the back of the cupboard. I have a lot more pictures. Vintage American Light Oak Hoosier Kitchen Queen Cabinet
This is a wonderful example of American cabinetry from the early twentieth century. This oak kitchen queen is in great condition and really can be ready for use with no effort. Overall height of this cabinet is approximately 67" and 39" in width. The upper section is about 11" deep with the cabinet of the lower section at about 24" in depth. The porcelain coated steel table top when slid all the way back is about 26" and when pulled out the depth increases to 32" One of the unique things with this cabinet is that the drawers directly below the pull out table come out with the top. We have never seen one of these with this configuration. The upper section has the flour sifter in the left hand side. The upper right doors both have caramel colored slag glass in the top and opens up to provide two cupboards for storage. ... moreThe lower right section on the upper cabinet has the sugar glass bowl behind the wood tambour door. The lower section has a pull out cutting board top center below the metal tabletop. A tin lined drawer is on the left side. 2 center drawers and a single larger drawer on the right side. Purchase a piece of American history! The item(s) for sale is a GENUINE VINTAGE item bought with other items that belonged to army sergeant. Gordon H. King, d.o.b. 12-17-1910. He enlisted in 1945 during WWII. He served during 3 wars- WWII. Korean War, and VIETNAM WAR. He retired at Ft. Benning, GA on February 6, 1973 after 28 years of service. He was retired for 23 years when he died on Feb 13. 1996 at the ago of 86. These items were purchased at auction. Were neatly stored by his heirs, and not touched or used for almost 30 years. Anyone with an eye can see that a little love a restoration is all that's needed to bring this beautiful piece back to life. beautiful enough to be used in its current condition. History- Hoosier cabinets were manufactured between the 1890's and the 1920's and seemingly come in many configurations. Common features include a retractable counter top which was usually enamel. A built in flour sifter, a bread storage drawer and several cabinets and drawers for storage. They were popular because in that age, kitchens did not have built in cabinets and storage and the Hoosier cabinet filled that need. There is no set pattern for the drawer and cabinet configurations. Typically there's a space with a glass door for showing off your pretty pieces while the rest of the cabinet is completely utilitarian. Usually the enamel counter has a painted rim, usually in red or dark blue/black. I have been told that the original color was red. Drawers and cabinet space were usually equipped with racks and hooks. The cabinets themselves are not flashy or fancy. They were meant for the kitchen and not meant to be a show piece.
