Rare Victorian Double Pickle Castor Silverplate Stand Cranberry Melon Jars Tongs
Offered from a NJ estate is a rare and beautiful Victorian ear double castor set A silverplated stand with flower and scroll embossing around cups and handle. Flared embossed feet. Decorative scroll hook for the tongs which have 3 claw scaled grabbers and dogwood flowers applied on the handles where you'd grip. The jars are gorgeous cranberry glass in a melon rib pattern. They flare at the bases and taper to straight sides. The silverplated lids are beautifully embossed with raised scroll and have knobs with feather motif. Excellent vintage condition with no dents. Scratches or dings to the plate. The bottles are in excellent condition with the exception of a 3/8" shallow rim chip. On one that is shown in close up in the final photo. Stand is 10" to top of handle 8" wide and 4" deep. Jars are 4" across at widest. ... more3" at waist and 5 3/4" tall to top of finial. Up for auction is an awesome Victorian pickle jar lid. It is silverplate with heavy embossing. Depicting birds, flowers and butterflies. The plating is in great condition, bright and shiny without any bends or breaks. What makes this piece so outstanding is the wonderful finial on top of a butterfly in exceptional detail that only the Victorian silversmiths seemed to take pride in doing. The lid measures 3 1/4 inches inside diameter. Sometimes the lid makes all the difference in the beauty of your pickle castor insert and a less detailed frame. Any light or dark areas are just shadowing. All of the items that I sell are not new but are antique or vintage. This is one of the most beautiful. Antique victorian, and exceptionally tall Meriden B pickle castor. It was made around 1886 in Meriden CT. The quadruple silverplate stand or frame has an amazing flower motif design all over it. This will be a fabulous addition to your antique collection. The castor has four beautiful tall feet at its base. It is hard to find a 13 inches tall pickle castor.The hook for hanging tongs is an eagle's head figure. The tong has a very nice design. This rare and beautiful daisy and botton pattern vaseline or uranium glass jar has a light green color. And under a black light the color is changed to the deep green. Here is an antique silverplate pickle castor with a hand blown glass insert. Unique squared blown cream colored glass insert. This piece is free from damage. The insert had extensive handpainted enamel flowers but have since worn off the glass. Measures"approx" 7 1/2' high and 7 1/4" across from handle to handle. Beautiful Antique Pickle Castor by Forbes Silver stands 9 1/2 inches in height. It has a Graceful design. There are Beautiful raised flowers and leaves surrounding the base and also on the gracefully curved handle. There are four legs with leaves and either berries or grapes on them. There are no dents. Nicks, or scratches on the silverplate frame. The frame has some tarnishing and wear on it. The silverplate top is in good condition with no dents, nicks, or scratches. The bottom of the frame is marked Forbes Silver Co. quadruple with an eagle in the center. It is also marked 279. The EAPG jar insert is Bright& Shiny! Antique Pickle Castor Yellow Quilted Satin Glass Silverplate Frame Lid Tongs
My parents collected antique art glass(among other things) in the 1960's- 70's& this is from their collection. The glass part is screaming yellow quilted cased satin glass; no maker's mark but it has the pontil on the bottom so it was hand blown. The inside is white satin glass; the outside is a the yellow that is lighter at the bottom going to darker as it gets higher. There's an impressed quilted pattern plus the quilt pattern is made the colors in the glass(hard to explain& hope you can see what I mean in my pics) It's a fine piece of victorian glass. It measures 4 3/4" tall; 3 1/8" across the top& 2 5/8" across the bottom. The glass has no chips. Breaks or other damage. There are a few small dark spots where the silver of the frame has touched to glass. The lid has no marks on it- it fits ... moreperfectly. The tongs are also unmarked and are 6 5/8" long. The frame is 11 1/2" tall. It has 4 round ball feet. There's a place to hang the tongs. The frame is stamped Wilcox Silver Plate Co. 4696 Quadruple Plate. The ring that holds the glass in may have been repaired at some time; or it may have been put together that way originally. I cannot tell. Just acquired out of a wonderful Private Midwest estate. We are able to offer this exceptionally hard to find, ~ MERIDEN FIGURAL SILVERPLATE DRESSER SET WITH ALL THREE ORIGINAL CUT& ETCHED GLASS BOTTLES ~. We have never seen this early example of Meriden silverplate, and I am quite certain that not many were ever made or exist as well. It is marked MERIDEN SILVER CO# 46 and dates to the early 1880's we would estimate. It measures 15 inches tall by 10 inches wide by 5 inches deep. It is in very nice condition, although it could use a gentle polishing. The silverplate looks to be in pretty nice condition with some fairly minor expected wear from age and use. The amazing thing is that this set was found with all three original cut glass inserts that are in fabulous condition! There are two cologne bottles and one lidded powder jar in ... morethe upper center. There are no chips or cracks on any of the pieces and only a few little flea bites around where the stoppers go in the cologn bottles. I can't imagine that you could ever find a nicer example to add to your Victorian silverplate collection than this one here. The clear swirl jar is 6" tall(including lid) and 3 1/4" in diameter. The castor frame, lid and tongs are all silverplate. This set is in very good condition with no chips or cracks to the glass. The silverplate parts are also in very good condition. The metal rod frame and the rod part of the tongs is gold colored. Silverplate frame and top, no makers marks, no markings of any kind, no plate marks either but it is silverplate, It is missing the fork. The lid is domed but it had a dent which was fixed from the underside but it still is not perfectly round at the top, slightly off not perfectly round really not that noticeable I had a hard time trying to get a good photo. The ring around the bottom that holds the jar in place is slightly off round. The glass jar is handblown. I see no seams that you would find in pressed glass, it is a heavy weight piece of glass, ribbed panels with a band of floral etchings. There is a small clam shaped chip at the bottom of 1 of the ribbed panels, some tiny flea bites and rough marks around bottom edges of jar, no breaks or cracks. There is wear to the plating. Here is a beautiful Victorian Serving Castor with the original glass insert. This is a hard to find piece. I believe this piece is from the 1877 to 1890's era. I tried to find info about J Rogers Silver Co and found only one piece of info that claimed J Rogers sold his business in 1877 and retired. It is marked J Rogers Silver Co on the inside of the lid. I purchased this fine old piece at an estate sale this last summer. The home was previously owned by a very long standing antique dealer well known in Portland by many. She collected everything and hoarded as well. It holds 12 spoons around the side of the piece. I have shown 6 on one side for viewing. All 12 holders are intact. This piece has been used. It is not a flawless piece. I have taken photos so please view each and every one. The last photo shows three and I want to reiterate ... morethis- I said three very itty bitty. Teeny flea nips along one side of the glass bowl. You can't hardly see them when viewing them up close. The camera does pick them up on the screen. There are no cracks or chips. This Quadruple Silverplated Pickle Castor made in Taunton, MA by Beacon Silver Company(later purchased by Rogers) This is#430 and in superb condition. It was owned by a great aunt in the Boston area and the piece was lovingly cared for. Being sold by the owner(not reseller) who loves antiques but is at the point of downsizing. Up for auction is this beautiful cranberry enameled thumbprint pickle castor in a silverplated frame marked Meriden# 0639. The cranberry insert is beautifully decorated around the entire perimeter with daisies and gold highlights around the jar and at the top rim. It is a corset shaped insert in very good condition with just a few flea bites at the top of the insert. The insert stands 4 1/2" tall. The silverplated frame is in very good condition also with no loss to the silverplate. It stands 11 1/4" tall. The sides of the frame are beautifully embossed with leaves. Flowers and fruit. There is a pair of tongs that hang from the side of the frame.

Up for auction is a lovely complete antique pickle castor from the Wilcox Silver Co. Quadruple Plate( which is the heaviest plating) The frame is in wonderful condition. Doesn't wobble, nothing broken or dented and the plating is great, clean, shiny and with minor wear for its age. The crown is highly decorated with leaves and flowers, the handles on each side near the base are very ornate and the bright work around the bottom if you look closely is also quite detailed, this is only something you would get from the 1880's silversmiths. The lid which is also in good condition other then some light surface scratches has a finial that seems to match the small little flowers as the top of the frame(the dark areas you see on the lid is just reflection) The inverted cranberry thumbprint pickle jar insert is a gorgeous color with no cracks. ... moreChips and only the most miniscule tiny nick on the rim which you can hardly see and barley feel(I tried to take a picture but it didn't show) This Victorian set is completed by a nice pair of antique pickle tongs. The frame has a 12 flute sided CRANBERRY GLASS insert with beautiful enameled daises and for-get-me-not. The lid fits the insert perfectly. The frame is 11 1/2" high and 4" across at the base. The insert is 4 1/4" and it measures 3" across. The bottom of the frame has the Rockford maker's mark and is marked and numbered"Quadruple Rockford Sil_ 663" There is a small chip on the outer side of the glass rim(see photo) of the insert. Victorian Reed & Barton Silverplate Pickle Castor - Goat Bird Aesthetic Figural
This listing is for an Antique(second half of 1800s) silver plated Reed& Barton pickle castor with a gorgeous Victorian Aesthetic design. This magnificent four footed piece measures 14 1/4" inches tall(to top of frame) and 6 1/2" inches wide(across frame) It features a glorious design of a goat's(or possibly even deer) head on each side. With a heavy scroll floral pattern and a peacock/ bird motif along the lid. The claw tongs feature a flower design that matches the frame, but I do not think they were original to it. It has a very old, handblown green glass mason jar insert that does look lovely on it. The jar has normal age bubbles and straw marks, a rough base and rim surface, but is free of chips and cracks. The castor lid does not fit tightly on the jar but does stay firm when a lid is placed on the jar. The frame is ... moremarked on its feet with the Mfd& Plated by Reed& Barton mark and the pattern number# 1260. The frame is in excellent condition with average(possibly less than average) age wear. There is a small spot that looks like it could have been repaired along the top section of the frame(see photo) This castor set is even more appealing in person than my pictures could show. It's a fantastic example of Victorian Aesthetic design and a very rare piece from Reed& Barton. I do accept returns if you are unhappy with your item for any reason.
