ANTIQUE SILVER TOAST RACK HOLDER W/COVERED BUTTER DISH D& S* DEYKIN& SONS Up for auction is an antique toast rack/holder with a covered butter dish. I am certainly no expert in this field. I don't think it is sterling. It is probably silver plated. There are some marks on the bottom, one says REGISTERED. DEC. I. 1870. The other mark is some letters and symbols, there is a letter A inside a shield, a rooster and another mark and the letters D& S, all inside squares. I think this may have been made by Deykin& Sons. This rack measures 8 7/8" x 6 1/8" x 7 3/4" tall. I think the butter dish is original, it is a milky colored glass with beading around the upper edge. There are some imperfections and air bubbles in the glass and there are a couple of small chips on the bottom edge. The lid has a design on the top ... moreand a cut out design around the lower edge. The rack is quite nice, there is a little tarnish and there are some light colored spots, looks like someone used some silver polish on it. The rack has screws and is held on with nuts, all of these nuts are a little different, probably replaced over the years. Very nice piece. I find most of my auction items at estate sales and yard sales. There may be some smoke or pet or musty odors. I will make a note of any odors in the description. I try to clean things as much as possible, if something needs extra attention, I will let you know. Some items I will not clean if I don't know the proper cleaning method. vintage silver toast rack letter holder marked International Silver Co of Canada
toast holder with markings. On one of the inner silver pieces facing upwards reads"R.C.N. On the bottom it reads"International S.C.O. of Canada LTD" and beside that is"silver soldered" and beside that is"EPNS" The toast holder was used on a regular basis and is in good condition. These Victorian toast racks are as popular today on the desk-top as they are on the breakfast table. Some are particularly suited to this use like these solid English Oak and silver plated ones. Scarcer to find as each day goes by. The solid Oak base stands on it's original four silver plated feet. The makers mark can be found on the shield shaped mount on the underside for the silversmith Bourne& O'Neill of Birmingham, this mark being used between 1881 to 1886. In excellent condition. Toast or Letter Holder Very nice vintage estate item Not sure if it's silver or silver plated. There's no maker's mark. Only the numbers 25.66 are stamped on the back- as shown. This is a cute antique silver or silver plate? hallmarked Cheltenham England toast or bread holder. A lot of people call them letter or napkin holders and they do work for that also. I polished this and there are few areas that I did not rub long enough on so there are still some black on them( see pictures) I have been polish silver for days. It has killed my hands. It measures approx 4 1/4" long by 3 1/2" wide at the widest point by 4" tall to the top of the round carry handle. There is approx 3/4" between each slot. It is not marked with any other markings and did not have a normal tarnish on it. So I am not sure if this is silver plate or silver. Your guess is a good as mine. VTG Antique HH&S Silver Plate Floral Engraved Etched Toast/Bread Letter Holder
This is a gorgeous hallmarked H.H&S silver plate toast/bread holder. On the bottom it is hallmarks on one end. H.H&S, just below it is stamped with different little symbols, and below that it has the numbers 01959, see pictures) on the other end it has a clover and the number 8. It has 2 different type of nuts opposite each other, then going the other way there are 2 really cool what I would call a fancy wing nut? There are 4 solid round feet. The bottom does have some minor scratches. The top toast/bread top part holder is in excellent antique condition. There might be a few minor scratches, but I did not see to many when I was polishing it. The center flat part of the top has a beautiful floral etched area in it under the holder area. A wonderful and most unusual toast rack made from English Silver Plate or EPNS(Electro-Plated Nickel Silver) dating to around 1900. Late Victorian or Edwardian. Standing on four decorative hoof-type feet, there is a large floral shaped dish below, perfect for butter to simply to catch crumbs. Victorian silver plate Toast Rack, Caddy, Holder, letters spell out TOAST
For your consideration. I offer this vintage Silver plate toast stand or holder. Holds 4 slices of bread, but could also be used to support letters or like sized items. It is 4" long 2.5" across, 5.75" tall, and weighs 10.1 oz. Was tarnished when I got it but a little tarnex made it look like new again. Unnamed but a magnet won't stick to it anywhere and appears solid like a silver plate over brass. It will weigh about 1lbs packed so shipping is according to that. Up for auction is a lovely. English, silver plated, toast rack with a crystal, jam or jelly dish in the middle. This is a great addition to a toast rack and one not usually found. The piece was manufactured by the Sheffield, England firm of Phillip Ashbury and the hallmark was used between, 1856– 1935. A striking piece that measures 6.25 inches high and 9.50 inches long x 5 inches wide. The crystal. Jam dish measures 3.25 inches square. The toast rack accommodates 4 pieces of toast at one time and a goodly amount of jam. A striking gadroon pattern decorates the bottom rim. The piece rests upon four cannon ball style feet. The rack measures approx. 7 1/2" by 4" and stands 5 1/2" in height on four bun feet to the top of the looped handle. The silverplate is in very good condition and I see no faults. You may want to give everything a quick polish but I see no plating loss. It is marked as pictured with what I believe is a registration number 1508 on one end and 41 in a diamond. Perfect for brunch. Breakfast in bed or table use. Vintage toast racks also make very functional and useful letter holders for the desk. This rack is very sturdy and well made. It weighs 13 ounces.
