The tin has a hinged lid and once contained biscuits from Scribbans Kemp. It dates to circa 1954. There is generalized patina on the tin for an antique look. The vintage wear and patina includes some small areas of wear. Some small scratches and scuffs, some handling marks and soiling, some small dents and dings, etc. Lid is a little more muted than base and has some noticeable soiling. Noticeable denting on front side and one end of base. Some sticky sticker residue on front side. A few more noticeable scratches here and there. Still fairly small. Much of inside is covered with dark patina. There is rust inside- around the interior crevice. And around the upper edges and around the lid, including at the hinge areas. Several reverse dings and some other normal wear on bottom. Hinges seem attached well enough and they move freely until they hit a kink when the lid is almost closed. So there is some wonkiness to the open/close situation. And a little coaxing is required. Again. Condition issues of note: NOTICEABLE DENTING ON FRONT SIDE OF BASE AND ON ONE END. Lid is more muted and has noticeable soiling. A few more noticeable small scratches here and there. Some sticky sticker residue on front side. Some rust inside– at crevice. Upper edges, around inside lid edge, at hinge area, etc. Some wonkiness to the hinges. Open/close requires some coaxing. Approximate size of tin is about 11.25” by 3.5” by about 4” tall. The Chesapeake Hospice Consignment Store asked me to sell some donations. Offered here is an antique wood. Porcelain and silverplate biscuit barrel. It came if from an antique store with a label saying it was circa 1870. The barrel is made of oak wood. The bands, handle, lid and shield are all silverplate with the lid marked EPNS. The inside is lined in porcelain. The barrel is 6.25 inches tall, not including the lid or handle. The porcelain is crazed and the silverplate could use a polish, but it is in otherwise very good condition. Garands, ribbons, and a central shield. The shield is not monogrammed. Just below the top rim is a series of wavy lines and repeating double row of dot motifs. Lid sports a pineapple finial. Biscuit box measures approximately 6-3/4" long(widest part of lid) 6-1/4" long(widest part of body) x 5-3/16" wide(width of lid) 4-5/8" wide(width of body) x 7" tall(top of handle to bottom) 4-5/8" tall(top rim body to bottom) and is found in very good condition. Antique Victorian Silverplate Biscuit Jar, Charming and Rare!
This is an absolutely charming antique silverplate biscuit jar. There's no lid. I'm not at all sure that there ever was. There is a very slight hallmark on the bottom that is in the shape of a diamond but even with a magnifying glass. I still can't read it. The jar measures four inches in diameter and is four inches high, not including the handle. If you're the successful bidder, please plan to pay within two days of the auction's end. I found this exquisite Victorian Biscuit Barrel on a recent buying trip to England. Others wanted it so I was glad I got up early! Winged Griffins on each side hold loops for handles. Front of barrel has a shield shaped cartouche that you could engrave to personalize this piece if you wanted. Background of barrel has intricate chase-work all the way around to include the top. This lovely barrel has a beaded platteau base with detailed paw feet. In wonderful antique condition. Underside is marked with the numbers 88 393. This could mean piece is from 1888. This is a beautiful Made In England Biscuit Jar. Imported by IFS Silver LTD. Israel Freeman& Sons) and has the hand in hammer mark. I believe IFS was originally in Sheffield, England, as I read on the Internet,and moved to NYC in 1920 where they imported from England and I have seen some silver plate from Italy marked IFS LTD, Made In Italy, hand and hammer symbol. The item has a leaded glass insert with a waffle design-one row plain and one row with cross hatches. About 7" tall; oval is 7-1/2" x 6" The silver is a heavy silver-plate with a gilt wash. Beading around the lid, around the top of band, and around the bottom of the band. Medallion with bow hangs from top band and swags of maybe olive leaves hang between. This is a very pretty canister. It is polished silver on the lid and the bottom but it is matt silver on the canister body. It has the initial R on the back side. Don't know if that is for ROCKFORD or for a past owner. It needs a little polish and has a few light scratches. It has a couple small dents one on the lid and one close to the bottom of the canister. I tried to take photos so you could see them.The canister is about 5"tall. 8 with the handle. It is about 7" across. Over all this is a very nice piece It is# 401.

Here is what I believe is a Biscuit Box that is stamped'LUNT SILVERSMITHS 101-R' on the bottom along with a'LUNT SILVERPLATE' sticker and a'Made in U.S.A. sticker. Paul Revere pattern with a hinged lid. Measures 7 1/2 inches to the top of the lid. 5 1/2 inches across, 4 inches deep and 5 1/8 inches to the top of the canister without the lid. Besides needing a good polishing I would say it's in very good condition, no dents or dings, very nice, well done pattern. Hinge works fine. HUGE Antique English Silverplate BISCUIT Barrel Israel Freeman HAND CHASED. Description Among its many fine qualities. One thing that makes this biscuit barrel most desirable is large size. It is much bigger than you usually find. It is all one piece(the barrel attached to the under plate and a hinged lid on the barrel) It is beautifully hand chased with a floral motif and has a center cartouche on the front, free of any monogram. Size: Measures about 10 1/8" wide. About 8 1/2" tall and about 7 1/2" deep. The top oval opening of the barrel is about 8" x 5 1/2" Maker: Israel Freeman& Son. Made in England. Freeman was working in London at the beginning of the 20th century and moved to NYC in the 1920s and continued in business in New York for many years. Likely dates to the early years of the 1900s. If exact date ... morematters to you, please do your own research. Condition: A touch of wear to the silverplate on the top of the finial as would be expected from normal use over the years. Antique silverplate Walker & Hall SHEFFIELD English biscuit barrel C1910
This footed biscuit barrel s a lovely addition to your the table. It maintains its hinged lid in perfect condition. All plating in tact on the outside of the item. Condition of the inside consistent with its well earned patina as shown in the pictures. It will polish to a shining gleam! I used it for wrapped sugar cubes in my kitchen. Would also be a wonderful tea caddy. It measures 6 x 6 including the attached underplate. The diameter of the jar itself is 5" Please see my other items as I am downsizing my silver collection.

1850-1899 JOHN GALLIMORE SILVERPLATE & CUT GLASS BISCUIT JAR DISH
REALLY NICE ANTIQUE JOHN GALLIMORE ELETROPLATED NICKEL SILVER AND CUT GLASS BISCUIT JAR 1876- 1896 I AM CALLING THIS A BISCUIT JAR HOWEVER. IT COULD BE A CONDIMENT SERVING DISH, SUCH AS MUSTARD, MARMALADE, ETC. THE DETAIL ON THIS IS REALLY PRETTY. THE TOP HAS A SECURE KNOB WITH BEAD WORK AROUND THE RIM. IT SITS 1 1/8" ABOVE THE LID. THE LID HAS A VERY ORNATE EMBELLISHED RIM WHAT ALMOST LOOKS LIKE A FLORAL CROSS IN THE MIDDLE OF MANY CUT OVALS WITH CONNECTING FLEUR-DE-LIS RISING UP BETWEEN THE OVALS, VERY NICELY EXECUTED. THE DESIGN CIRCLING THE KNOB IS OF INTRICATE LEAVES ALONG SIDE A RING OF WHAT LOOKS LIKE 4 LEAF CLOVERS. VERY NICELY DONE. THE OUTSIDE OF LID HAS OLD AGE PLATE LOSS. BECAUSE OF THE THICKNESS, THERE ARE NO DINGS, OR DENTS. THE INSIDE OF THE LID IS LIKE BRAND NEW, WITH NO PLATE LOSS. THE FRAME HAS THE SAME BEAD WORK(THAT ... moreIS ON THE KNOB) CARVED IN THE HANDLE AND THE UPPER RIM. THE LOWER RIM HAS AN INTRICATE CUT ALL AROUND. THE FOUR POST HOLDING THE TOP RIM TO THE BOTTOM RIM ARE DONE IN AN ELEGANT ALMOST SHAPED LIKE A MUSICAL NOTE AS IN"S" FLOWING LIKE THE FLEUR-DE-LIS ON THE LID. THE FINIAL ON THE HANDLE. SOMEWHAT MATCHES THE LID KNOB IN SHAPE. THE FRAME STANDS ON 4 VERY SUBSTANTIAL BUN FEET, PLACED UNDERNEATH EACH ELEGANT POST. THE PIECE IS SIGNED AS YOU CAN SEE IN LAST PHOTO. THERE IS PLATE LOSS DUE TO OLD AGE. THERE ARE NO DENTS, OR DINGS. THE LID AND FRAME ARE VERY HEAVY AND REALLY TIGHT. HALLMARK- JG OVER S = JOHN GALLIMORE. ANT. VICTORIAN SILVERPLATE ETCHED COVERED JAR BISCUIT JAR LUNCH PAIL
This is an antique Victorian etched covered jar but I am not sure what it is exactly for. It could be a lunch pail but I can't find anything like it in my American Silverplate book. They had an item for just about everything or use. It is marked World Silverplate Co. Triple Plate. It is 4" in diameter at the handle with the base being 4 7/16" in diameter. It stands 4 3/4" high plus the lid and 9" with the handle. Condition is pretty good with loss of plate and a few dings but the opening and the lid are a little out of round or shape as seen in the photos. An interesting piece for display or use. We are offering a beautiful. SHEFFIELD, silver plate rimmed and handle, crystal, biscuit barrel, manufactured in ENGLAND. Unfortunately, the lid was missing when we acquired this piece, but other wise, it is in perfect condition. Absolutely no chips, scratches or detectable flaws on this elegant piece of crystal. The original SHEFFIELD label is attached to the piece. The crystal is over 24% Pbo and the word ENGLAND is stamped into the silver rim at the opening of the piece. This would make an eye catching, beautiful display piece. We are asking $40.00, simply because this piece is in such wonderful condition. The height is 5 and a half inches from the bottom to the top of the rim, 4 and one half inches across the top opening.
