This castor is 12 1/2" tall and stands on 4 ornate feet. The jar is in the"Daisy and Buttons" pattern. Normally called"Vaseline" or"Uranium" It glows brightly under black light lamps. This is one of the more stunning vaseline jars I've seen in many years. It glows with natural sun light alone. All the photos provided were taken with natural sun light shining through a nearby window except photo#4. Which obviously was taken with a black light lamp nearby. There are no chips. Nicks, cracks or stains in this jar. The"W" representing L.G. Wright, is imprinted on the inside base as shown on last photo. The lid is probably not original and fits tightly. The silver plating on the tongs. Lid and frame is in great condition and I have no reports of any damage or abuse. Please do not assume I am an expert with the items I sell or that pickle castors are all original or"Mint" Unless specified as such. Many pickle castors on the market from the 1870's to the early 1900's have had parts replaced or changed out, due to breakage, lost tongs/forks or damaged parts. Gorgeous Victorian Pickle Castor w/ Tongs Optic Swirl Jar Pairpoint Silverplate
Up for auction. I have this lovely Pairpoint silverplate pickle castor. I purchased this item at a local estate auction. The castor set measures 9 1/2" to top of frame and 4 1/8" across. The clear swirl jar is 6" tall(including lid) and 3 1/4" in diameter. The castor frame, lid and tongs are all silverplate. This set is in very good condition with no chips or cracks to the glass. The silverplate parts are also in very good condition. The metal rod frame and the rod part of the tongs is gold colored. Hartford Company Quad Silver Plate 739 PICKLE Castor Jar Complete w/Lid & Tongs
This 9 1/4" total PICKLE Castor is made by Hartford Silverplate Co. Quadplate 739. The silverplate is highly tarnished. The glass canister is 3 3/4" tall x approx. 3" in diameter across the top opening. There is a small surface chip in one of the diamond shape designs in the glass as shown in photo 4. The diamonds on the two side and again on the bottom add a nice accent to the lined jar. The lid fits well and tongs are included. Up for auction is a lovely complete antique pickle castor from the Wilcox Silver Co. Quadruple Plate( which is the heaviest plating) The frame is in wonderful condition. Doesn't wobble, nothing broken or dented and the plating is great, clean, shiny and with minor wear for its age. The crown is highly decorated with leaves and flowers, the handles on each side near the base are very ornate and the bright work around the bottom if you look closely is also quite detailed, this is only something you would get from the 1880's silversmiths. The lid which is also in good condition other then some light surface scratches has a finial that seems to match the small little flowers as the top of the frame(the dark areas you see on the lid is just reflection) The inverted cranberry thumbprint pickle jar insert is a gorgeous color with no cracks. ... moreChips and only the most miniscule tiny nick on the rim which you can hardly see and barley feel(I tried to take a picture but it didn't show) This Victorian set is completed by a nice pair of antique pickle tongs. Tufts antique silverplate pickle castor stand complete with the original glass optic design jar and the 2 original silverplate tongs. Measuring approx. 10 3/8 inches from top to bottom. The lid shows some wear and the tongs and base do. As well. Little dots of pitting exist on the bottom part of the base that holds the jar. There are some bends on the lid and the bottom of the base. However. Both do their job well, with no visible problems of these issues and neither is a detraction. A former owner has etched his name"Preston" the inside of the lid and the bottom of the base. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN MERIDEN PICKLE CASTOR WITH SPECKLED BLUE GLASS INSERT This auction offers an antique Meriden silverplated pickle castor with a speckled blue and white glass jar. The frame is 10-1/2" tall and about 4-1/4" wide. The jar is blue glass with a speckled white finish with cutouts. It is 4" tall and 3" in diameter. The frame is apparently slightly bent because the insert rests up against one of the columns. Which you can see in the photos. It is not harming anything-the insert still fits fine and can probably be straightened by hand, but I have not attempted this. The tongs are 6-1/2" in length and probably not original to the set. This pressed glass. Quadruple silver-plate pickle jar is a nice example of Victorian tableware. The glass jar is pressed with a lovely floral and etched design. The silver-plate has a nice ring design with little flowers and sits are 4 ornate feet. The jar measures 4 ¼ inches high but when placed in its stand it measures 11 ½ inches high. The tongs have the matching flower pattern and measure about 7 inches long. The lid in the glass is chipped. Where the lid fits in. The silver-plate lid on the jar is scratched– all the silver is tarnished, slight dent in the bottom. Despite its age issues- it is a nice Victorian piece. The frame and lid are unmarked. However the jar is made by Fostoria glass and it is in their swirl pattern. The castor measures 10 1/2" tall and 4 3/8" diameter at the base. The jar is 4 1/4" tall and 3 1/8" in diameter. The jar is in very good condition with no chips or cracks, however there are a couple scuffs on a couple swirls and a spot that looks like it touched something before the glass cooled. Ontario– Canada, specifically Kitchener and Ingersoll, after immigrating to Canada from Pennsylvania from the 1760’s. Antique silverplate pickle castor or cruet, by Simpson Hall Miller& Co, dating around 1870-1890. This has been passed down within the family for many years. It comes complete with elaborately designed SP frame, amber glass insert, lid and fork tongs. ALL original pieces in excellent condition- no breaks, chips, damage or repairs. The glass insert jar measures approx 7" tall(to top of lid finale) x 3" bottom diameter. The silverplate frame has elaborate detail to it- the top with leaves and flower detailing and the bottom base with floral etching all around. The amber glass jar is a checkered bar or almost a pinecone pattern. Very beautiful and not often seen. The lid has a charming acorn or fruit motif finale. The tongs which rest aside the jar on it's hook, has silver flowers to the sides with claw feet to the bottoms. The bottom is stamped with the makers mark: Simpson.
