The quadruple silverplate stand or frame has an amazing flower motif design all over it. This will be a fabulous addition to your antique collection. The castor has four beautiful tall feet at its base. It is hard to find a 13 inches tall pickle castor.The hook for hanging tongs is an eagle's head figure. The tong has a very nice design. Meriden was one of the companies absorbed by International Silver in the 1890's. The frame additionally has a hook for the pickle fork. Fork is adorned with a flower on each side. Cradled in the large leaves at the base is the circular ring that hold the FIGURAL PICKLE BARREL JAR. The large leaves actually wrap around the jar to hold it in place. Just acquired out of a wonderful Private Midwest estate. We are able to offer this exceptionally hard to find, ~ MERIDEN FIGURAL SILVERPLATE DRESSER SET WITH ALL THREE ORIGINAL CUT& ETCHED GLASS BOTTLES ~. We have never seen this early example of Meriden silverplate, and I am quite certain that not many were ever made or exist as well. It is marked MERIDEN SILVER CO# 46 and dates to the early 1880's we would estimate. It measures 15 inches tall by 10 inches wide by 5 inches deep. It is in very nice condition, although it could use a gentle polishing. The silverplate looks to be in pretty nice condition with some fairly minor expected wear from age and use. The amazing thing is that this set was found with all three original cut glass inserts that are in fabulous condition! There are two cologne bottles and one lidded powder jar in ... morethe upper center. There are no chips or cracks on any of the pieces and only a few little flea bites around where the stoppers go in the cologn bottles. Quadruple Beautiful leaf detailing across the top with birds Offered for sale is a beautiful Victorian pickle castor originating between 1890 and 1910. A set of tongs is included. This piece measures 14" high and 5" in Diameter at the base. The bottom has the trademark for Meriden Co. This pickle castor is in very good estate condition with no damage except small chip in the bottom as shown in the photo. Which is not visible when seated in its base. Up for auction is this lovely Ca. 1800's Silver Plate Pickle Castor From The Meriden Co. Connecticut. Quite ornate with scrolling Flowers And wreath type handle on lid. The Claw Feet tongs are fantastic as well. The glass has a sunburst center and nicely etched 4 sides as well. Overall a real sweet piece. The castor measures 9 1/2" overall height and 7 1/2" to point of top finial. It is 3 7/8" wide& deep. It is marked Meriden B* Company 137 on the base. The entire piece is in excellent condition. No chips or cracks on the beautiful& ornate glass. The base. Lid and tongs are free of any cracks or repairs, the lid has a small indentation as seen in the first photo.

There is some very nice detail on this castor, on the base it rises up in front of the glass and shows nice detail of flowers and more on the lower part of the base it has a little bit of detail as well. The thongs are cool with detail that looks like birds feet. The glass jar is clear and in great shape. It has these amazing swirl designs. The jar lid is detailed as well, the jar lid just sits on top of the glass it does not go on tight, so you should be careful when you move it. The condition is what is expected for a piece this old. The color in this jar is deep cranberry, photos are actual and have not been altered. This castor has great attention to detail and ornamentation. It stands on 4 feet. Made by Meriden Silver Company. Circa 1870-80's. The Hallmark on the base is"Double Stamped" There is normal wear for the age and tarnishing on the frame and tongs. Silver plate is unworn on castor, some wear spots on the lid. The jar has a tiny rim chip and short crack there, and rim with a few short firing cracks. The castor with tongs is for one price.

Featured at auction is this Neat Antique Meriden Quadruple Plate Pickle Castor Set. With Repaired Pomona Glass Insert. The Castor Set stands 10 1/2" tall, with outside Base of 4 1/2" and 3 1/4" Insert Base and Cover. The Tongs are 7" long. On the bottom of the Holder is Meriden Quadruple Plate 227. The Glass Insert is Pomona Glass Circa: 1884 and produced by the New England Glass Co. and is damaged and someone tried to fix it, but we bought it this way, so we are selling it this way, so it stays together. The bottom of the metal frame of the pickle castor is marked"Meriden B Company" weighing scale design in the middle) and the number"9" The top of the metal frame has a ribbon type design with a flower in the middle. Beautiful scrolling metal work on the sides and etching on the front and back. The metal frame has 4 intricately designed metal feet. The lid has a lot of raised detail designs in it. The round glass insert is in excellent condition with a very detailed zipper type pattern all around. The tongs are EXQUISITE! They have a flower pattern on each side where your fingers would hold them and the tongs are in the shape of eagle talons with 3 fingers each. The glass and metal are ALL in excellent condition. Meriden Britannia Company Meriden. Connecticut circa 1852- 1862 Elegant. Limited edition design, Pickle Castor made by the Meriden Britannia Company circa 1852- 1862. Horace and Dennis Wilcox formed the Meriden Britannia Company in 1852 and the hallmark on this piece is from that era. In 1862 they purchased Rogers Brothers Mfg. holloware division, tools and dies, and by 1869 Meriden had completely taken over Rogers. The Meriden hallmark changed in the early 1860's to include Rogers. Meriden's limited edition designs were numbered next ... moreto the hallmark, and this piece is numbered 222 with what appears to be a 3 underneath. The design for the stand is an elegant, streamlined style floral pattern, in keeping with the use of nature themes in the Aesthetic Movement of that era. The sleeve is made of blue glass that was blown into a mold(no seams) And it has a faceted"Daisies and Buttons" design with many high points to give it a lot of sparkle. The bottom also bears the"QUADRUPLE PLATE" stamp next to the hallmark, meaning that 4 layers of silver were applied to this piece. This beautiful rare Pickle Castor is in wonderful antique condition; no cracks or breaks to the metal of the stand, tongs or lid, there's some age/use wear to the surface of the silver plate including tarnish and there's a small ding to the lid(see photos) The glass sleeve has a tiny flea-bite to the top edge and there's a small chip to the side of one of the petals on one daisy(see photo) No other chips, cracks or breaks to the glass, and the silver plate needs to be polished to look its' very best. This auction is for a Victorian Period Meriden B. Company"5" silver plated pickle castor which measures from it’s base to tip. 10.5" inches, base of stand is 4.25 inches wide. This pickle castor comes from a friends home and is in pretty very good condition. I do not polish anything I come across but prefer to allow the Buyer to use the methods of their choice on cleaning an item so this item has not been polished and therefore is not as shiny as it would be if silver polish was used on it.

Meriden Quadruple Plate Pickle Castor Jar w/ Blue Glass Insert & Tongs
ANTIQUE VICTORIAN MERIDEN PICKLE CASTOR WITH SPECKLED BLUE GLASS INSERT This auction offers an antique Meriden silverplated pickle castor with a speckled blue and white glass jar. The frame is 10-1/2" tall and about 4-1/4" wide. The jar is blue glass with a speckled white finish with cutouts. It is 4" tall and 3" in diameter. The frame is apparently slightly bent because the insert rests up against one of the columns. Which you can see in the photos. It is not harming anything-the insert still fits fine and can probably be straightened by hand, but I have not attempted this. The tongs are 6-1/2" in length and probably not original to the set. There is silverplate loss to the frame. It is marked Meriden B. Co. and Quadruple Plate 248. You are bidding on a Victorian era Britannia white metal pickle castor. The pickle castor measures approximately 4 in. in diameter and 9.25 in. in height. It features beautiful florals and scrolls. You are bidding on an antique and not a reproduction. It is in good condition and has no dents. This piece has silver plating apparent on the base. But the finish has largely worn off the lid. It is missing the decorative piece atop and tongs are not original to the piece. Glass has a few small bubbles, but is otherwise complete and intact. Base is monogrammed A.E.W. in script on the base and marked on bottom with a partial mark reading“MERIDEN B CO_ in a circular design with a pair of scales within a shield in the center. Antique Victorian Pickle Castor Jar with Tongs Quadruple Plate Meriden
This pressed glass. Quadruple silver-plate pickle jar is a nice example of Victorian tableware. The glass jar is pressed with a lovely floral and etched design. The silver-plate has a nice ring design with little flowers and sits are 4 ornate feet. The jar measures 4 ¼ inches high but when placed in its stand it measures 11 ½ inches high. The tongs have the matching flower pattern and measure about 7 inches long. The lid in the glass is chipped. Where the lid fits in. The silver-plate lid on the jar is scratched– all the silver is tarnished, slight dent in the bottom. Despite its age issues- it is a nice Victorian piece. The cranberry glass jar is decorated with 9 different. Multi-colored, hand painted enamel floral sprays- 3 rows of 3. Rare Victorian Meriden Silverplate Pickle Castor Double Handled Loving Cup Amber
This auction is for an elegant antique pickle castor in an unusual double handled form. The silverplate castor is stamped Meriden with a mold number of 216. The jar is amber pressed glass with a beaded dart design. The castor has a lot of plate loss and there are a couple tiny fleabites on the jar. But this is otherwise in good condition and displays beautifully. Measures approximately 7" tall when lidded and 6 1/4" wide from handle to handle.
