Here's a fun silent butler or crumb tray in silver plate. The front of the tray has a crest depicting two unicorns and an arm holding a dagger. The tray could us a polishing. But there are some areas in the edge of the tray where the silver has worn away. The handle slides into the back of the tray. It appears to be Bakelite. A great vintage item! The tray measures about 6 inches wide at the widest point. The brush measures about 4.25 inches wide. The brush and tray measure about 4½ inches long when the brush is attached to the back of the tray. It has an incised mark"EPC" and the Sheffield mark. This piece is in excellent condition with some minor scratching. The silverplate has a couple of areas of wear that can be seen in the pictures. 1880s Victorian Silver Plate Silent Butler Crumb Tray by F B Rogers Silver Co
I am selling this wonderful 1880s Victorian Silver plated. Silent butler or lidded crumb tray, with turned wooden handle. It was made by F. B. Rogers Silver Co. who were a silversmithing company founded in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts in 1883. The company was acquired by Edmund W. Porter and L.B. West, who incorporated the company and moved manufacturing operations to Taunton, Massachusetts in 1886. For several years, the company became known as West Silver Company, and was producing silver products for the William Rogers Manufacturing Company of Hartford, Connecticut. In about 1904, West and Porter retired and sold the company to William Davison, Carleton A. Woodward and H.E. Nearing, who changed the company's name back to F.B. Rogers. It measures 8 inches by 6 inches. And the handle length is 5 inches. The condition is very good with ... morelight surface scratches and some tarnishing. Overall it is in fine fettle for the age. Vintage Friedman Silent Butler Silver Plated Crumb Tray w/ Dragon
For auction is a Friedman silver-plate crumb pan with hinged lid. The top is stamped with the dragon. The bottom is stamped with the Friedman stamps. Horse head, crab? and 3 birds as well as the number 153. There is nice beading around the cover. The wooden handle is worn in the area where it attaches to the metal pan but it is solid, not wobbly. No dings or dents. The pan with handle is almost 11" by 8 1/4" wide by 3" to the top of the thumb pull.

Made in Western Germany" engraved on them. The tray has the hallmark for the F.W. Quist Co. The tray is 6 1/2" across and 5 3/4" tall. It has an openwork pattern. The graceful curved brush is 8" long with 3 3/4" on bristles that are 1" tall. The brush has a pattern of curved lines going down it. The bristles are clean and are firm and flexible. They are mounted in what looks like light colored wood which is then attached to the silver-plated top. The brush has a hanging ring attached to the handle end. Western Germany was used beginning in1949 and the Quist Company was in business until 1981. They are in very good condition. There ... moreare minor surface scrapes on the tray from use. This is a beautiful quality Art Nouveau Silver Plated Silent Butler of Crumb Tray. It is wonderfully heavy and made from heavy gauge silver plate. What is unbelievable is the craftsmanship of this piece that I believe was made by the Silversmiths Baker Brothers. This is such a stylised Nouveau piece and hopefully the photographs do this piece justice. The chasing or hand engraving is breath taking and is made up of a collection of flowers and leaves. Everything about this piece screams Art Nouveau and even the handle is wonderfully chased in classic Nouveau curves and forms. The piece is in wonderful antique condition with no damage or dings to the silver. There are very tiny age spots that are only mentioned as I like to describe pieces as fully as possible. These are tiny and do not detract from this amazing piece; these are consummate ... morewith age and use of a period antique piece. The silver plate is in very good condition with no plate loss to the top of the piece. There is a small area of plate loss or mark to the underneath of the piece consummate with use on a table. OLD SHEFFIELD SILVER CO SILENT BUTLER CRUMB TRAY 268 UNICORN DESIGN
I am offering the Antique Sheffield Silver Co. EPC) Silent Butler's Crumb Tray. It is number 268. And made in the USA. It has 4 claw feet and stands about 2" tall x 7 1/4" oval shaped x 5 1/2" wide. The lid is hinged, and it has a thumb finial for easy flipping. The lid also has an embossed unicorn pictured at the center. The interior is 1" deep and measures 7" x 5" It has a spindled design wooden handle. It is in relatively good condition for its age. With perhaps a bit of polishing needed, and some sprucing up on the handle, a bit of old English will do the trick. There are no dings or dents. And certainly presents itself nicely. Vintage 1940s Oneida Silversmith Silverplate Silent Butler Crumb Catcher Tray
Fresh from an upstate New York estate! This offering is for a most handsome"Silent Butler" circa 1940's. These versatile silent butlers were used for clearing unwanted crumbs at the end of an elegant dinner to ready the table for the dessert. Coffee or after dinner drinks. Ah, those were the days of elegance! You can re-live that bit of elegance or use this hinged lid silverplate"butler" as many do- for serving nuts or mints, guest soaps or pot pourri in a bathroom or for an ashtray to keep the smoking ashes from cigarettes, pipes or cigars from wafting their odor into the room. The butler has an elegant round form with lightly convexed sides and is mounted on three elegant"Queen Anne" shaped feet. The flat hinged lid features a knight in armor profile with shield with scrollwork(Coat of Arms) very Art Deco! ... moreThe wood handle has a very dark, almost ebony finish. From the shape of this butler, if it were used, it was used very little. There are no stains or burn marks and the only sign of use is some fine polish marks and some minor scattered very fine scratches on the underside. Truly it has a mirror finish making it hard to photograph due to the reflections. Lid fits nicely and hinge works fluidly. The underside is engraved"Oneida Silversmiths. The silent butler measures 10 1/2" long and is 6" in diameter. The tray portion is 1 1/4" high not including the scrolled lift handle or the wood handle. IMPORTANT PLEASE READ! These pieces are not part of any set. Crumb Tray measures 10 1/2" long and is 7" at the widest. Unrelated curved brush is 11 1/2" long. Brush has a thin wood base with a thin metal layer. Brass or copper color wash, but I can't tell which. condition: Silent Butler tarnished. Scratched, hinge a little wobbly, wear to handle.
