Up for auction is this beautiful cranberry enameled thumbprint pickle castor in a silverplated frame marked Meriden# 0639. The cranberry insert is beautifully decorated around the entire perimeter with daisies and gold highlights around the jar and at the top rim. It is a corset shaped insert in very good condition with just a few flea bites at the top of the insert. The insert stands 4 1/2" tall. The silverplated frame is in very good condition also with no loss to the silverplate. It stands 11 1/4" tall. The sides of the frame are beautifully embossed with leaves. Flowers and fruit. There is a pair of tongs that hang from the side of the frame.

Here is a beautiful Cranberry enameled thumbprint Pickle Castor in a tall footed Silverplated frame marked Reed& Barton# 1230. The frame stands 11 1/2" tall and is in perfect condition with no loss to the silverplate. It is highly embossed and has a pickle fork hanging from the side of the frame. The Cranberry enameled thumbprint insert stands 4" tall and is beautifully decorated with sprays of blue and pink flowers. The insert has a few very tiny flea bites at the top of the insert. This is a great castor for any pickle castor collection.

Up for auction is a lovely complete antique pickle castor from the Wilcox Silver Co. Quadruple Plate( which is the heaviest plating) The frame is in wonderful condition. Doesn't wobble, nothing broken or dented and the plating is great, clean, shiny and with minor wear for its age. The crown is highly decorated with leaves and flowers, the handles on each side near the base are very ornate and the bright work around the bottom if you look closely is also quite detailed, this is only something you would get from the 1880's silversmiths. The lid which is also in good condition other then some light surface scratches has a finial that seems to match the small little flowers as the top of the frame(the dark areas you see on the lid is just reflection) The inverted cranberry thumbprint pickle jar insert is a gorgeous color with no cracks. ... moreChips and only the most miniscule tiny nick on the rim which you can hardly see and barley feel(I tried to take a picture but it didn't show) This Victorian set is completed by a nice pair of antique pickle tongs. This is a wonderful set which I have owned for many years and now time to pass on to someone else. The stand stands 8 1/2" tall and has a pair of tongs hanging on one side of the frame. The silverplate is in good condition. There is a tiny rough spot at the top edge of the frame. There is no loss to the silverplate.The cranberry insert is very heavy old glass with beautiful floral decorations and sprays around the perimeter of the jar. We purchased this at an estate sale. It does have some flaws to the plating on the lid which we have tried to show in the photos. The stand also has some light scratches. Scuffs and a light ring where the glass has been sitting on it for so many years. The glass jar is in terrific condition with only one very very small chip to the wave like pattern around the rim. Has the thumbprint pattern and has been hand-enameled on three sides with lovely flowers. The silverplate lid is unmarked and has a pickle(cucumber) shape with two leaves on either side. Lid fits perfect. This piece came the Dick Black estate out of Dayton. Ohio. Mr. Black was the artist/illustrator who created Smokey the Bear and Mr. Clean. Very prominent illustrator of the mid-century. CONDITION: Very good to excellent condition. No cracks. Repairs, or crazing. There is a very miniscule chip on the edge of the top of the jar. Up for auction is this beautiful victorian pickle castor. The glass insert is thumbprint cranberry glass. The glass is perfect. No rough edges around the top. One air bubble inside the glass on the bottom.see pic. I have a victorian home and started to collect these for my curio cabinet in the dining room and the price tag was still inside the glass insert. This one has been re-silver plated at some time. As you can see the price was $350. There is a spider web hallmark with a"W" in the middle. And there are the numbers 82. I am not an expert on these victorian pickle castors, I bought some cause i liked them and they are different. This one has an interesting tong with hands on the end.
