Offered from a NJ estate is a rare and beautiful Victorian ear double castor set A silverplated stand with flower and scroll embossing around cups and handle. Flared embossed feet. Decorative scroll hook for the tongs which have 3 claw scaled grabbers and dogwood flowers applied on the handles where you'd grip. The jars are gorgeous cranberry glass in a melon rib pattern. They flare at the bases and taper to straight sides. The silverplated lids are beautifully embossed with raised scroll and have knobs with feather motif. Excellent vintage condition with no dents. Scratches or dings to the plate. The bottles are in excellent condition with the exception of a 3/8" shallow rim chip. On one that is shown in close up in the final photo. Stand is 10" to top of handle 8" wide and 4" deep. Jars are 4" across at widest. ... more3" at waist and 5 3/4" tall to top of finial. RARE ANTIQUE 5 HOLE CASTOR STAND CONDIMENT HOLDER SILVERPLATE POT METAL PEWTER
Up for auction my RARE ANTIQUE c1800's 5 HOLE POT METAL PEWTER look CASTOR HOLDER STAND. This is a great old Castor Stand measuring 13 1/2" tall X 6" diameter at the widest point. Each of the 5 holes measures 1 3/4" diameter. This appears to have been silver plated in its prime. However most of that has worn off. This is a very old piece, mid to late 1800's and these metal holders did not stand up well to heavy daily use. They were usually replaced several times in the lifetime of the glass Castor Set itself. These are hard to come by and I truly hate to part with it. This has a wonderful Old World pewter look. It retains its original old patina. This looks used. There is a slight bend in the outer ring and salt or corrosion at the feet(see photos) and a small ding or two. There are no cracks, breaks or repairs. This ... moreis beautifully and artfully designed, with a finely detailed carry handle and 3 fancy feet. Beneath the carry handle there is a detailed peas-in-a-pod or corn-row motif. Overall the piece has a simple elegance. This is one of the nicer Castor Stands I have seen over the years. This is not junk. It is solid and sturdy. It stands well with good balance. It is well made, quite heavy. These really are hard to come by so this is a great find. I am downsizing and need to let some of my favorite possessions go. Lot of 2 Silverplate Victorian Pieces Pickle Castor Basket This auction is for a lot of two silverplate pieces from a recent estate sale. One piece is a pickle castor stand and features beautiful flowers. The opening of the pickle castor stand is about 3.5" wide on the inside of the rim. The stand is about 9.5" tall. It includes the piece on the side for the spoon to rest on. I am not sure if the second stand is to a brides basket. A squatty pickle castor or something else. It measures approximately 4.125" wide and is about 4" tall. It has an intricate pattern around the edges and also has a spoon rest on the side. Both of these pieces are tarnished and I don't see any marks. I assume that they are silverplate. But could possibly be pewter. They come as-is with no guarantee as to the material. This auction is for an old Victorian Era pickle"stand/ holder/ frame" with its lid and tongs. There is NO glass jar. There is a toe broken off one of the claws on the tongs. And part of the ornamentation is broken off one side near the base. You can see where the stand sides are welded to the base. Otherwise this is a very very pretty stand, lid, tong set. It just needs a jar to complete. Even with the missing parts it is still functional and would make a lovely addition to a Victorian table setting. Webster& Bros.New York.They were in business from 1873-1886.It is silver plate with a wonderful animal motif around each tier.The ornate handle has a squirrel eating nuts or berries and the tiers have deer,a swan, squirrels,a deer being chased by a dog,a rabbit and a bird.This needs to be polished.The stand is 17 inches tall and 7 inches at it's widest pointThere are 6 cruet holders but I only have 4.Three of the cruets have the same vine etching on them and one has a floral etching. Antique 4 Bottle Etched Glass Castor Cruit Condiment Set Metal Stand Dragons
ANTIQUE 4 BOTTLE ETCHED GLASS CASTOR CRUIT CONDIMENT SET METAL STAND DRAGONS For your consideration is a BEAUTIFUL set of 4 cruit bottles with covers in original stand. Two of the bottles appear to be salt and pepper. One has a very rounded top which unscrews very easily and leaves a silver band on the bottle after taking cap off. Silver top has some light wear to the finish of the silverplating. I don’t see any chips or cracks. Next bottle is also salt/pepper. Cap is not as rounded and unscrews easily but the top of the bottle is all chipped. After taking top off. There is not a silver band left on the bottle like the previous bottle. No cracks or chips other than under the cap. Next bottle(looks like maybe vinegar bottle) Has a glass stopper for a cap. Not sure if the stopper goes with the set as the bottle has a very slight purple/pink ... moretone to it but the stopper is clear glass. Stopper has a chip out of the part that goes into the bottle. Around the top of the bottle. There are 2 chips– see photos. Looks like someone was not careful when they were taking the glass stopper in and out. No other chips or cracks that I can see. Last bottle might be a pickle jar. It has a metal flip top cover which I cannot unscrew. The flip top part of the cover is missing– please see photos. No cracks. Chips that I can see The metal base is in very good condition for it’s age. On the top of the handle in the center there is what appears to be 2 long dragon heads. Very nice detailing. The holder for the 4 bottles spins around for easy access while eating. The very bottom of the stand. Where it touches the table, has two dents in it– see photos. They don’t hurt the integrity of the holder at all. Just visually you can slightly see them. All in all. A very nice set. Gorgeous Victorian Condiment/Castor/Cruet Set FRAME/STAND ONLY REDUCED!!!!!!!!!!
This is a beauty! The auction is for the frame ONLY. NOT THE BOTTLES. All the silver has been REPLATED and is in amazing shape. The photos show shadows and do not do it justice, as it is nicer than it looks! The handle is very ornate and there is a pretty floral pattern around the outside of the apron. There is a stamp underneath the base that is hard to read but does say quadruple plate, has the number 103 and it looks like MERIDEN COMPANY in a circle.
