Antique Victorian England Silverplate Salt & Pepper Caddy ~ 1 Cobalt Blue Liner
I was really excited to find this at an Estate sale I had attended. But the Victorian era Salt& Pepper Caddy has some issues. The caddy was made in England and is Silverplated along with the Salt and Pepper Shakers. They Shakers are beautifully ornate and feature cross-like piercings. Very nicely made. I had not noticed was that one of the shakers is missing the Cobalt Blue Glass liner. The other has the liner. But difficult to open, and I have not forced it to open. There are some fine markings from past openings near the edge of the cover. When examined(the empty shaker) contains a spring-like coil where the liner would rest and elevate the liner for refill. Very nice in so many respects. But with the issues described, I have priced the collectible accordingly.

This exceptional high quality butter keep has been in my family for many ears. This piece was produced by Charles Howard Collins. Birmingham, UK. It is beautifully pierced in three tiers with heavy bands separating the tiers. It sits on 3 claw on ball feet and is adorned with two handles. The thick cobalt blue glass liner is in PERFECT condition. Not even a flea bite! This was used by my old aunt as a butter keep. Jam or condiments as the need was. It looks stunning on any decorated table. It measures approx. 4" across(without the handles) and approx. 3" tall. The condition is excellent. Absolute no wear to the silver. Barn sales and antique shops along the way. I have a huge variety of oldees for you this week- from 19th century primitives to 1950s kitsch- there’s something for everyone! Here is a lovely pair of vintage silverplate salt& pepper shakers. The silverplate"frames" the interior. Which is cobalt blue glass. Each one measures 4" tall and 1 1/2" diameter at the base. They are in excellent solid and sturdy condition- both are marked on the bottom with a U.K. patent number, and that they were made in Hong Kong. I'm showing in photo 10 that there is a small nick to the top rim by the seam of one of the shakers- it's ... morehidden by the lid when on, and you could sand it down if you wanted to. I'd leave it as it is, as it's very small and you cannot see it unless the lid is off. The shakers are marked on the top by their shaking holes- S for salt and P for pepper. The plate has darkened and I have not tried to clean or polish them in any way. Prettyprettypretty! Please ask if you have any questions. Vtg Raimond. Distinctive Silversmiths for over a Century, up for auction. Box is in poor condition but still closes with a safety attachment. Three piece silver-plate set rests on a blue velvet cushion which off sets the silver-plated pieces. Cobalt blue glass inserts for the salt and hinged condiment holder. Naturally you can use the pieces for whatever you wish. I did not use them at all, as they were given to me by an elderly relative. I liked them because I collect cobalt blue. Time to downsize so. The shakers are made of cobalt blue glass and are nested inside a silverplate cage of vertical lines and curves. The tops unscrew for filling. The bottoms are marked silverplate. Japan and F. B. Rogers. They were found at an estate sale in their original box and protective plastic. They appear to have never been used. 1880s~MERIDEN~ANTIQUE VICTORIAN SILVERPLATE CUT TO CLEAR COBALT BLUE CASTOR SET~
This auction is for an 1880 era antique Victorian silver plated castor set. Marked: MERIDEN B(Brittania) COMPANY- This elegant tableware serving set was made in Meriden, Conn. and consists of 5 bottles or jars that are cut to clear cobalt blue with the same pattern on each side of each jar. There is a vinegar and oil set with glass stoppers, a salt and pepper set and a condiment jar with the original spoon. They rest on a rotating lazy Susan type tray with a tall handle and the perimeter of the tray features engraved or impressed floral designs. Overall this complete set is in excellent condition with a few very minor details. I think the silver plate was probably polished prior to the opening of the estate sale where it was obtained and there may be a few little areas that might need touched up but there are no dents or noticeable scratches. ... moreThere is one very tiny fleabite on one of the glass stoppers on the side edge where it begins to taper up to a point. The pepper shaker does not have the top little finial attached like the salt shaker does but it is included inside the bottle. The spoon has an A.S. monogram on the end. The tops of the salt and pepper jars show some copper where the silver plate is worn. There are no other chips, cracks, fleabites, or scratches on the glass bottles. Otherwise it is fully functional, appears only very lightly used, and overall in excellent condition in my opinion. The larger jars measure approx. 7 1/2" and 8" tall, the condiment jar is 5 1/2" tall, the top of the handle is 15" the 5 hole tray is 8" in diameter, and the total weight is 4 lbs. 3 oz. As always. It is silverplate and comes with it. All are in very nice condition with no damage. There is a solder mark on the inside of the lid by the hinge where it looks like it was repaired. There is a UK Patent#1014132 stamped on the bottom. But no maker name. They still look beautiful, but there are a few condition issues to mention. The footed box measures about 3" tall and is about 3 1/4" across the top. There is no damage to the glass. The interior has a silk lining and the fabric has deteriorated badly- photos 3 and 4. There is a small rough spot where the hinge meets the glass- see photo 7. The box does not set absolutely flat- there is no damage to the legs that I can see and no repairs so it must just be from the manufacturing process. I show the legs in the last 2 photos. There is some plate wear on the legs. Unless otherwise specified my items are preowned and vintage- they are not new.
