Which measures 20 inches long by 14 inches wide by 14 inches tall, and which is in very good condition for its age of more than one hundred years. This handsome piece is marked on the inside as shown in photo#7. There is no damage and no repair and the patina is dark and slightly variable. The handle is cast pewter and is tight and held in place by a threaded screw and round nut. The rim is decorated with a cast pewter trim element(photo 10) This piece may be plated in silver but is not so marked. This auction is for the sale of a medium sized Victorian pewter food dome. Which measures 14 inches long by 11 inches wide by 8 inches tall, and which is in very good condition for its age of more than one hundred years. This handsome piece is marked on the inside as shown in photos 7-9. There is no real damage but for the slight bump visible in the photos and no repair. The patina is fairly dark and very smooth. It should shine up beautifully if you wish. The handle is cast pewter and is tight and held in place by threaded screws and nuts. A handy loop is built in to the rim for hanging. It was made by William Hutton. Sheffield, c.1880. Condition is good for age. There are a couple of shallow bruises& dinks and some small surface scratches. The silver plating is still very good. The dome has been cleaned and has a wonderful mirror shine. Unusual silver plate or 800 silver Persian/ Turkish meat dome. I know that's a big difference. But everything else from this estate was either 800 or 900 silve r. Will not scratch it to test it. I'm calling it Turkish because they were from Turkey. That's the only reason. There isn't any marking that I can see. I listed it from 1900 to 1940. Could be older. Old Handmade Sheffield Silver Plated Hotel/Restaurant Meat Dome Vintage
Offered here is a very nice. Heavy, silver plated meat dome which measures 12 3/8" long x 8 1/2" wide x(approximately) 6" high- to the top of the handle. There is a simple applied handle on the top and a small half round bead of about 1/4" on the bottom. The plating is in excellent shape with no loss of silver and no copper showing through. The condition is"vintage used hotel" with hand hammered marks on both the outside and inside. Overall. It is a lovely piece in very nice condition, CLASSIC. There is no platter, only the dome. Hand Hammered Silver Plate Turkey Meat Dome with Silver Tray / Platter
Large Silver Plate Turkey/ Meat Dome with Silver Tray Up for auction is a hand hammered silverplate dome in the Sheffield style. This measures 20 3/4" x 15 3/4" x 12" tall to the top of the handle. This piece weighs about 9 pounds and I believe it was made in the early 20th century. The engravings are on each side of the dome. see photos) I have not found any makers marks on the item. But it seems to be in the English style. It is in great shape for its age and only has a couple of small dents but these do not take away from its beauty. While we had this dome listed we found what we believe is a matching tray/ platter. It has the same reeded or fluted design. The dome fits pretty well. I think the dome's oval shape is a little out of round. The platter is marked silver on copper and made in England. The tray does have some ... morescratches on the serving part of the tray. The platter measures approx. 21 1/4" x 16 1/4" If anyone has any info. on this piece let me know and I will pass it along. I am pricing postage by USPS. It is in great shape except for a few dents which I'm sure can be pressed out. Inside is hallmarks, A bugle, and the word Harrods. There is a loop at the edge for hanging it up when not in use. Beautiful antique meat cover dome stamped inside Neill Belfast who were the renowned Sharman D Neill family of jewellers. The dome is silver plated and in very nice antique condition. It has had a brief clean but needs a more thorough one. It measures 12 inches long by 9 inches wide and stands 8.5 inches tall approx. There are marks on the silver plated that I am sure will polish out- there appears to be no major wear to the plate and it is all in good order. Nice decorative handle and a rope edging on this dome. A stunning and quite charming silver plated food dome or cover. With a wonderful and most unusual aesthetic engraved decoration in a floral and foliate design; with a couple of the most adorable birds(Swallows) incorporated. Take a good look at the photographs, it was hard to capture with the surface reflecting. The underside of the handle is clearly marked for the top-notch English silversmith, Walker& Hall of Sheffield, this mark dates the piece to around 1890, late Victorian in era. This dome has hallmarks(pictured below) from its maker. But we cannot identify the marks. This cover is topped with a twig form handle atop of an acanthus leaf decoration. The front of the cover is monogrammed with what appears to be the letters, AR. The cover measures approximately 9" tall, 14 11/16" wide, and 11 1/8" long. Condition: This meat cover does have minor scratching that is appropriate for its age and use. There are a few scratches that are slightly deeper than surface and some marks that may come out with cleaning. There is some plate loss and discoloration. Antique French Silver plate Meat Dome with Warmer and candles: This unusual French silver plate meat dome just came with us from France. It dates to the last quarter of the 19 th century and has a few marks to show for it. It is in overall very good condition. This is quality plate that easily took a polish. The dome has a large ornate handle; the warmer also has sturdy handles to each side. There are four silver plate ball feet. The base has a cup which holds an old fashioned Brevette or candle, the fore runner to the candle light. There is a box of new and partially used ones included, it came with the warmer. The piece has some age dimples, both in the dome and one in the base. The platter where the food sits also has a series of small dings consistent with 100 years of use. Antique H D Wilkinson and Sheffield Silverplate Meat Dome (Mid 1800's ??)
Antique- Used- Has obvious wear over time. Surface scratches and several dents throughout this piece of beauty. The inside of the dome is marked as H D Wilkinson and Co and Sheffield. I believe this to be Silverplate not silver. There are no signs of any other metals that I have noticed that have surfaced thru the silverplate on the top. There was either no silverplate underneath the dome or it has worn off. There is a crest with a reindeer on the front of the dome and is also engraved with the wording of"Nos Nostraque Deo"The handle is beautiful and is bolted together underneath. I am not sure if this was the original handle or if this was changed out over the years because I have not been able to find another meat dome on the internet exactly like this one. I have noticed around the beading on the dome in some areas it looks like ... moreperhaps maybe someone tried to replate with some silver.I am far from an expert and I could be completely wrong and it could be where the silver plate wore off- not really sure but with a magnifying glass it looks more like a touch up. If this piece is close to 200 years old it is very possible for someone trying to restore it to some degree. I do know that from researching H D Wilkinson and Co and Sheffield manufactured in the early to mid 1800's. This truly is such an interesting piece of history. It can be used over an oval silver or silverplated dish or silverplated meat tray. It is approx 13 1/2 inches long.the dome rises approx 6 inches and has an additional estimated 3 inches taller with the ornate handle. I have attempted to clean underneath the dome to determine if there was any silverplate but unable to determine. I have included in this auction a Wm Rogers Meat Tray with similiar roping.
