Rare Victorian Double Pickle Castor Silverplate Stand Cranberry Melon Jars Tongs
Offered from a NJ estate is a rare and beautiful Victorian ear double castor set A silverplated stand with flower and scroll embossing around cups and handle. Flared embossed feet. Decorative scroll hook for the tongs which have 3 claw scaled grabbers and dogwood flowers applied on the handles where you'd grip. The jars are gorgeous cranberry glass in a melon rib pattern. They flare at the bases and taper to straight sides. The silverplated lids are beautifully embossed with raised scroll and have knobs with feather motif. Excellent vintage condition with no dents. Scratches or dings to the plate. The bottles are in excellent condition with the exception of a 3/8" shallow rim chip. On one that is shown in close up in the final photo. Stand is 10" to top of handle 8" wide and 4" deep. Jars are 4" across at widest. ... more3" at waist and 5 3/4" tall to top of finial. There are five cranberry glass pieces included; four are matching shaped bottles, two of which have original lids, one has a multifaceted clear glass stopper, and the fifth is a 3 1/4" tall cranberry glass tumbler. Antique Victorian Cranberry Enameled Thumbprint Footed Silverplate Pickle Castor
Up for auction is this beautiful cranberry enameled thumbprint pickle castor in a silverplated frame marked Meriden# 0639. The cranberry insert is beautifully decorated around the entire perimeter with daisies and gold highlights around the jar and at the top rim. It is a corset shaped insert in very good condition with just a few flea bites at the top of the insert. The insert stands 4 1/2" tall. The silverplated frame is in very good condition also with no loss to the silverplate. It stands 11 1/4" tall. The sides of the frame are beautifully embossed with leaves. Flowers and fruit. There is a pair of tongs that hang from the side of the frame.

Up for auction is a lovely complete antique pickle castor from the Wilcox Silver Co. Quadruple Plate( which is the heaviest plating) The frame is in wonderful condition. Doesn't wobble, nothing broken or dented and the plating is great, clean, shiny and with minor wear for its age. The crown is highly decorated with leaves and flowers, the handles on each side near the base are very ornate and the bright work around the bottom if you look closely is also quite detailed, this is only something you would get from the 1880's silversmiths. The lid which is also in good condition other then some light surface scratches has a finial that seems to match the small little flowers as the top of the frame(the dark areas you see on the lid is just reflection) The inverted cranberry thumbprint pickle jar insert is a gorgeous color with no cracks. ... moreChips and only the most miniscule tiny nick on the rim which you can hardly see and barley feel(I tried to take a picture but it didn't show) This Victorian set is completed by a nice pair of antique pickle tongs. This is a wonderful set which I have owned for many years and now time to pass on to someone else. Measurements are 11 inches tall, insert hole 3 1/4 inches in diameter, Jar is 4 1/2 inches tall by 3 inches in diameter and tongs are 6 1/2 inches long. All of the pictures were taken outdoors in natural light, none of the pictures were retouched and no flash was used. All of the items that I sell are not new but are antique or vintage. Victorian Silverplate Pickle Castor, "Quadruple Rockford 663" Cranberry w/enamel
This is a very fine Victorian quadruple silverplated PICKLE CASTOR frame with Lid and Tongs made by the Rockford Silver Plate Company. The frame has a 12 flute sided CRANBERRY GLASS insert with beautiful enameled daises and for-get-me-not. The lid fits the insert perfectly. The frame is 11 1/2" high and 4" across at the base. The insert is 4 1/4" and it measures 3" across. The bottom of the frame has the Rockford maker's mark and is marked and numbered"Quadruple Rockford Sil_ 663" There is a small chip on the outer side of the glass rim(see photo) of the insert. There is some pitting in the base of the frame but it is covered by the glass insert.

Here is a stunning Deep Cranberry paneled Mary Gregory style pickle castor in footed silver plated frame marked# 168. It stands 9" tall. It appears to have its original patina. There are a pair of pickle tongs that hang from the side of the frame. There appears to be one leaf missing at the bottom side of the handle. The deep cranberry paneled glass insert is 4 7/8" high. The glass insert is beautifully enameled in the Mary Gregory style with a picture of a young girl collecting eggs. The glass jar is in good condition with just a few flea bites on the top of the insert.

Nice old antique circa 1900 Silverplate Hickerboch Company(I think that is what the base mark says) silverplate pickle castor with Northwood Cranberry Paneled Sprig Pattern Hand Decorated Enamel Painted Glass Insert with metal lid. Its a pretty set. The cranberry glass insert is in good condition with the only minor thing being some very small nicking on the top edge.seen only when the metal is removed and its is examined very closely. The metal lid has a small ding in the bottom edge and is a bit out of round but still looks great on the set and fits nicely over the cranberry pickle glass insert. The frame is marked on the bottom and it looks to me like it says Hickerboch Silverplate Co. not sure its hard to see. The frame is 10 3/4" high. The glass insert is 4 1/4" high and 2 7/8" wide across the top measured with the lid ... moreremoved. The set originally had a pickle tong that hung from the frame but this one was missing when I got it. They can be bought easily on Ebay if desired. This is a really pretty old set and its just in from a quality filled local estate. Starting auction price is very reasonable so don't miss it.

Antique 1800s Cranberry Glass Handpainted Pickle Castor with Tongs - Silverplate
The cranberry glass bowl itself is a gorgeous piece and is in exceptional condition with a beautiful hand painted floral design and painted gold accents on the embossed glass. The frame is quadraplate and worn. Tongs are missing one foot, but it's still a stunning piece with the fabulous cranberry glass as the focal point. There is a bit of residue inside the jar probably from not being rinsed out long ago. I’m sure this could be cleaned but thought best to leave it alone! I don’t have a clear indication of the year I suspect– sometime in the 1800s. It was a piece that came from my great grandmother. The jar is 4 ¼” in diameter and 4 5/8”H without the lid. Lid is 3 3/16” in diameter and 2”H, frame height is 11” tongs 6” L.

Cranberry Pickle Castor 1850-1899 silverplate Queen City
I want to sell my pickle castor from my fathers estate. It was in his home on display for over 50 years. It is one of two I am listing. This is the better of the two as the OTHER needs a lid. The frame is in good condition with no cracks or dents but is tarnished. The tongs match and are about 7" long. The glass vessel is cranberry. Melon shaped, paneled with enameling. I can find no chips or cracks and little if any, loss of enamel. The frame is marked with a round hallmark stating Queen City Silver Co. The top fits and has no dents or flaws. This is a very nice set. The silver plate needs a good cleaning and the tongs and top of frame look dull to me. Insurance is included with the shipping. My father has left a note that this set is in Kovels 1999 edition priced at $850. I wish!
