The glass insert measures 6 inches high to the finial on the cover and is 4 3/4 inches in diameter across the bottom of the jar. This fine silver plate piece features a round base with 4 cabriole feet in the Rococo style. It has oval medallions around the base with a scrolling acanthus leaf handle that raises above the base. The glass jar is acid etched and hand painted with a large landscape scene featuring a mother and child walking on a large estate. The painting is further enhanced with heavy applied gold enameling. We are offering an Antique Victorian pickle castor made by the Rockford Silver Company during the Aesthetic Era(late 1800's, ... moreearly 1900's) It boasts 2 matching tongs and a bright L.G.Wright Uranium jar. This castor is 12 1/2" tall and stands on 4 ornate feet. The jar is in the"Daisy and Buttons" pattern. Normally called"Vaseline" or"Uranium" It glows brightly under black light lamps. This is one of the more stunning vaseline jars I've seen in many years. It glows with natural sun light alone. All the photos provided were taken with natural sun light shining through a nearby window except photo#4. Which obviously was taken with a black light lamp nearby. There are no chips. Nicks, cracks or stains in this jar. The"W" representing L.G. Wright, is imprinted on the inside base as shown on last photo. The lid is probably not original and fits tightly. The silver plating on the tongs. Lid and frame is in great condition and I have no reports of any damage or abuse. Please do not assume I am an expert with the items I sell or that pickle castors are all original or"Mint" Unless specified as such. This auction is for truly one of the most elegant Pickle Castors/ Caster/ Cruets I have seen in a long time ~ so beautiful its screaming to me to go into my collection. This beauty sits 10" tall to the top of the frame. The base mesures 5" across and it sits on 4 feet. in a Homan Silver Plate Frame standing 10" tall with lots of curly ques on the and a rope twist base. Due to the condition of the silver my guess is its been resilvered along the way. The Insert is Custard and glows beautifully under a black light, unfortunately the photo lights washed out the Custard color. The base of the castor is 3" Heavily enameled with Cobalt Blue Flowers, the top of the jar and the base are decorated with a gold band, this is so beautiful the pictures do not capture the real beauty of it ~ much more elegant in person. Antique glass pickle vanity cookie jar silver plate lid pineapple shape large. This unusual jar could have been used for many things. E.g. holding biscuits, candy, cotton wool, combs, pickles, etc. Measures 4.5 inches across the base, by 7.5 inches tall. No mark or stamp. Lid appears to be silver plate, while the base metal could be pewter, or else the servants got to zealous and polished off all the silver plate in the manor house! Glass is a pressed design, with stars and curved sections that rise to a point. It reminds me of the base of a pineapple. The lid sits on top, does not screw on. No chips or cracks. Some wear to the silver plate.

Up for auction is this lovely Ca. 1800's Silver Plate Pickle Castor From The Meriden Co. Connecticut. Quite ornate with scrolling Flowers And wreath type handle on lid. The Claw Feet tongs are fantastic as well. The glass has a sunburst center and nicely etched 4 sides as well. Overall a real sweet piece. The castor measures 9 1/2" overall height and 7 1/2" to point of top finial. It is 3 7/8" wide& deep. It is marked Meriden B* Company 137 on the base. The entire piece is in excellent condition. Nicks or repairs to the glass. The plated holder has had both side attachments repaired. They do need to be repaired again. Toronto Company Silver Plate 0101 Pickle Castor Glass Jar 11" Tall
This lovely. Vintage PICKLE CASTOR jar was made by Toronto Company. It is marked S.P. 0101. It is complete with a secure fitting lid. The glass canister measures 4 3/4" tall and approx. 3" in diameter across the top opening. The jar has a fluted design. Possibly because of the design. All the lower edges of the glass have rough edges due to minor chips that are visible when viewed up close. The total height of the highly tarnished piece is 11" The frosted glass canister has a bit of a rough edge on the bottom rim. The top inside of the glass. Along the rim, have tiny crackle lines or maybe striation marks. There are no chips or breaks though. Please view the photos carefully and contact me if you have any questions. Ornate Victorian Quad. Silver Plate Pickle Castor Blue Glass/Crystal?
I have seen some of the other pickle castors that have sold for ridiculous money recently and in my opinion this would fall into a higher quality category. Both the lid and base have such beautiful detail. The blue of the glass or crystal(not sure) is a great color and has no chips or cracks. No damage to piece whatsoever. Antique Barbour Quadruple Silver Plate and Amber Glass Pickle Castor With Tongs
This is an elegant pickle castor with tongs that I have had since the 70's. The silver plated base is marked"Barbour Silver Co. quadruple. 2309" The base is adorned with a fine embossing. The header has stylistic flowers or leaves and a large flower at the top center. A leaf and bud design hold the tongs. There is very slight wear of the silver on the lid edge, which is topped by a decorated knob. There are no dents or scratches or dings in the silver base. The tongs are decorated with a flower and a bow and the claws at the end. They are only slightly tarnished. The amber glass is thick glass with"V"s of smooth glass at the top and inverted"V"s of smooth glass at the bottom. Between the"V"s are daisies and buttons. The glass has a couple small bubbles from the manufacturing process, but no chips ... moreor cracks. The total height is 10 3/4 inches tall and 4 inches diameter at the base. Here we have a very unique. 1880's era ~ VICTORIAN"DOUBLE" PICKLE CASTOR WITH BOTH ORIGINAL CUT GLASS INSERTS WITH FIGURAL BIRD GLASS LIDS ~ This was made by SIMPSON HALL& MILLER WALLINGFORD, CONNECTICUT. I imagine it is not a real easy example to find, as it is the only one like it we have ever seen. It is certainly quite fancy and was probably fairly expensive to purchase, some 125 or so years ago. I would guess that not all that many were ever sold, and you usually find pretty basic single models, and one like this would have been purchased by a fairly affluent family. The condition is actually quite good given its age. The only thing that needs mentioned on the cut glass inserts is that one of the lids has an edge chip on the top and bottom in the same area approximately. see picture#9. Both bases and the other lid is ... morein excellent condition with no chips or damage" which is pretty amazing" The two cut glass inserts measure 6 1/2 inches tall" to the top of the bird" by 3 inches across at the base, and get larger near the top. The frame measures 11 1/2 inches tall by 8 1/2 inches wide by 4 1/4 inches deep. The fancy figural silver plate frame shows some wear to the silverplate, and we have not tried to polish or clean it. This is just the way the pickle castor looked when it was discovered in an estate this week. It would make a fine addition to any collection. A very fine antique. Circa 1880's, Meriden silver plate pickle castor in Aesthetic Movement style. The molded jar is sapphire blue glass. Includes the matching silver plate lid and one tongs. Castor measures 12' tall, the jar alone 4-1/2" tall by 3-1/4" square. Very good condition: white metal without breaks or losses, original solderings. Silver plate is unworn on castor, some wear spots on the lid. The jar has a tiny rim chip and short crack there, and rim with a few short firing cracks. The castor with tongs is for one price.

Meriden Britannia Company Meriden. Connecticut circa 1852- 1862 Elegant. Limited edition design, Pickle Castor made by the Meriden Britannia Company circa 1852- 1862. Horace and Dennis Wilcox formed the Meriden Britannia Company in 1852 and the hallmark on this piece is from that era. In 1862 they purchased Rogers Brothers Mfg. holloware division, tools and dies, and by 1869 Meriden had completely taken over Rogers. The Meriden hallmark changed in the early 1860's to include Rogers. Meriden's limited edition designs were numbered next ... moreto the hallmark, and this piece is numbered 222 with what appears to be a 3 underneath. The design for the stand is an elegant, streamlined style floral pattern, in keeping with the use of nature themes in the Aesthetic Movement of that era. The sleeve is made of blue glass that was blown into a mold(no seams) And it has a faceted"Daisies and Buttons" design with many high points to give it a lot of sparkle. The bottom also bears the"QUADRUPLE PLATE" stamp next to the hallmark, meaning that 4 layers of silver were applied to this piece. This beautiful rare Pickle Castor is in wonderful antique condition; no cracks or breaks to the metal of the stand, tongs or lid, there's some age/use wear to the surface of the silver plate including tarnish and there's a small ding to the lid(see photos) The glass sleeve has a tiny flea-bite to the top edge and there's a small chip to the side of one of the petals on one daisy(see photo) No other chips, cracks or breaks to the glass, and the silver plate needs to be polished to look its' very best. Up for auction is this beautiful victorian pickle castor. The glass insert is a very thick heavy amber amber glass insert with raised squares. Much heavier than the cranberry one i have listed. This glass is perfect condition. I see no chips cracks or breaks. I don't see any wear or roughness on the glass. The lid fits snug. The silver plate is decent. Needs a cleaning.it is tarnished. I pretty much just displayed them in my curio cabinet in the dining room. I'm not much for cleaning silver! I like the patina"old" look myself. This is one of the nicest pickle casters I've ever had. The frame is very unusual and the lid definitely matches the base. The jar is a wonderful rubina glass with enameled flowers. Condition: the frame has separated at the top behind the flower nothing a little epoxy wil not fix. Around the back side the gallery the jar sits in has two losses in the little design. The glass is in excellent condition ground and polished along the top. You must insure this item If eBay overcharges shipping I will refund anything over $5.00. This auction is for an old silver plated pickle castor with an amber Early American Pattern Glass insert. The bottom of the frame is marked Reed& Barton as seen in the pictures. I do not see any makers marks on the tongs and do not know if they are original or replaced along the way. The tongs are old and look great with the pickle castor. The frame stands about 9 1/2" high to the top of the handle and has 4 cupids/ cherubs around the middle. The amber glass insert stands just ... moreover 4" high. I do not see any chips or cracks in the glass insert. The frame could use some cleaning/polishing because there is some tarnishing. There is some wear to the plating where the glass insert sits inside the base. New Jersey residents please add 7% sales tax. Up for auction with no reserve is an estate lot of 19th century Victorian Period silver plate and cranberry pickle casters. This lot includes 2 matching beautifully enameled cranberry glass with a matching floral hand painted designs. The frames are also quite nice but do show some wear as seen in photos. The jars are in excellent condition. With the exception of a small chip on the mouth of the small jar. Both jars have a lovely cranberry matte finish on the outside and shiny on the inside. The largest jar is 6" high x 6 wide" The smaller matching jar is 3 1/2" high x 3 3/4" wide. Stamped on the silver of the smaller jar frame is a mark with"MS Benedict MFG Company Quadruple Plate and numbered 427" On Jan-06-15 at 05:48:36 PST. Antique Victorian Wilcox Silver Plate Pickle Castor EAPG Etched Glass Jar This Wilcox quadruple silver plate pickle castor is a beautiful. Turn of the century piece. The castor is missing its lid and the side fork holder appears to be broken off. The bottom of the castor says"quadruple plate. Wilcox Silver Plate Co. 0693" The inside glass jar is very nice and appears to be EAPG. The bottom has some flea bites but is in overall great condition for its age. The jar is ridged and has a very nice etching around the upper band. The Wilcox Silver Plate company was based in Meriden. CT in the mid-1800's and produced some of the finest silver plated pieces. It measures approximately 11 inches tall and 6 inches wide. The glass is approximately 4 inches tall and 3 1/2 inches in diameter. Thanks for looking!

The jar itself is the main attraction on this set with its perfect condition and beautiful design. The jar is pressed glass and is an 8 sided octagonal design. Every other side of the jar is a classic starburst pattern with the opposite sides in a 6 lines of 3 each octagonal motif which is really the highlight of the set. Antique Rare Mechanical Silver Plate Pickle Castor w/ original EAPG glass jar
Rare Mechanical Lift Pickle Castor ca. 1880– Frame#1270 Mfg'd& Plated by Reed& Barton is stamped on the bottom of this silver plated frame. This trick frame measures a tall 16” H x 7” W x 5 ¾” Deep. The set was inspired by the Gothic Revival of the late nineteenth century. Gothic Revival drew its inspiration from the medieval architecture of the sixteenth century. This tall Gothic styled frame was designed to be reminiscent of the flying buttresses and arched ceilings found in cathedrals throughout Europe. Even the turns that lift the mechanical lid have a Gothic shape. The frames patina is dark and consistent in color from the top to the bottom. It is a strong excellent frame. A three tine Victorian pickle fork attaches comfortably to the main frame arm. The fork measures 8” A pressed glass jar with a plain panel design ... moreis original to this set and in like new condition. The condition of the entire set. Lid, mechanical works, lid and jar are all top notch. Very few Mechanical Sets in excellent condition like this pickle castor set, exist today. Don't miss this truly rare find!
