This is a very beautiful silverplated vintage 1992 jewelry box. It is a heavy box and it has a very nice design. With scrolling, flowers and leaves. The box measures 9" for length, 3 3/4" width, and the depth is 1 1/2" The inside has light grey velvet lining with a ring section, and three other compartments. There is also a mirror inside the lid of the box. On the bottom it reads Godinger Silver 1992. The box is is good condition, and I have not cleaned it or polished it. Natural Patina is intact. The hair brushes measure 9 1/4" long x 3 3/8" wide x 1 1/4" thick(bristles and all) The set is in good used condition. The Brush appears to have all of its bristles but there are small dents and dings. This Auction is for a Rare William Carmichael hand made Silver Dresser Jar. The jar is engraved with the intial's J B H with the date JUNE 11 1955 below. The jar measures 1 5/8 inches in height and 2 3/8 inches across the top. The jar is in very good condition; the inside of the jar or box is lined with a heavy blue plush lining. The bottom of the box has the makers mark for W. Carmichael- a Canadian Silversmith. And has a weight of 103 grams. I copied this from the internet- W.M. Carmichael was Victoria-born and-educated. The son of a professional engineer and artistic mother who had trained at the Slade School of Fine Art. After a brief practice in civil engineering and service in the First World War, he opened his first workshop behind his parents' home in Oak Bay. The first products were jewellery and electroplated tableware made ... moreto Carmichael's own designs. In 1924 a Sheffield-trained silversmith. George Bennett, joined the firm and showrooms were opened in Victoria. Expansion continued during the 1920s with the establishment of a larger factory on Government Street in 1927, followed in 1929 by the construction of the impressive Tudor revival business premises on Fort Street. The firm prospered, even during the 1930s. From 1935 to 1940 a showroom on Vancouver's Howe Street was maintained by the firm and supplied from the Victoria workshops. At the outbreak of war this was closed, however, and the firm concentrated on copper and brass utensils used to equip the warships being constructed and refitted in the shipyards at Victoria and Esquimalt. Incorporated in 1904 and merged with( became) Oneida in 1926. The base is about 4 to 4 1/4" across. The opening is approx. 3 1/4" across and it is about 1 1/2" tall without the lid. There are a few dings and plating loss(please review the pictures) But overall it is in nice pre-owned antique condition. Please note- My items did not come from a pet-free or smoke-free home.
